23.01.2022 Daily Gospel Readings for Tuesday the 20th of January 2015 Gospel, Mark 2:23-28 It happened that one Sabbath day he was taking a walk through the cornfields, and his disciples began to make a path by plucking ears of corn. And the Pharisees said to him, 'Look, why are they doing something on the Sabbath day that is forbidden?' And he replied, 'Have you never read what David did in his time of need when he and his followers were hungry- how he went into the house of God when Abiathar was high priest, and ate the loaves of the offering which only the priests are allowed to eat, and how he also gave some to the men with him?' And he said to them, 'The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath; so the Son of man is master even of the Sabbath.'

14.01.2022 Reflections for Lent Year B 2015 2015 - Rich in Mercy - Reflections for Lent preparation for Lent 2015- we are looking to set up groups of between 5-8 people to get together, and meet at a time to be agreed upon by the group and to help each other prepare for Lent. The Lenten resource, Rich in Mercy, Reflections for lent issued by the Archdiocese of Brisbane will be your guide, and this will take the form of an audio visual presentation and group discussions. The Gospel ...passages are the primary source of the reflections. The reading of each passage is supported by guided contemplation; reflection; personal sharing and discussion. The group process enables the participants to engage with the Gospel story and encourages each person to take the Good News into their daily lives. The opening prayer comprises songs and prayers which prepare the spirit to hear the word of God anew. The Closing prayer gathers up our sharing, our reflections and our hopes and help us prepare for the week ahead. This will be an enriching way to prepare ourselves for Lent. There are signup sheets in the foyer. Put your name down today. This will be a wonderful way to prepare for Easter. For more information please speak with Fr Jerald or register your interest with the Parish Office.

06.01.2022 Daily Readings for Monday the 19th of January 2015 Reading 1, Hebrews 5:1-10 Every high priest is taken from among human beings and is appointed to act on their behalf in relationships with God, to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins; he can sympathise with those who are ignorant or who have gone astray, because he too is subject to the limitations of weakness. That is why he has to make sin offerings for himself as well as for the people. No one takes this honour on himself;... it needs a call from God, as in Aaron's case. And so it was not Christ who gave himself the glory of becoming high priest, but the one who said to him: You are my Son, today I have fathered you, and in another text: You are a priest for ever, of the order of Melchizedek. During his life on earth, he offered up prayer and entreaty, with loud cries and with tears, to the one who had the power to save him from death, and, winning a hearing by his reverence, he learnt obedience, Son though he was, through his sufferings; when he had been perfected, he became for all who obey him the source of eternal salvation and was acclaimed by God with the title of high priest of the order of Melchizedek.
