25.01.2022 Today is Australian Primary Principals Day, a day to acknowledge how fortunate we are to have dedicated leaders in our schools. We give thanks for our own Principal, Mr Greg Martin, who has transformed OLA since his arrival at the school. Greg also ensured our kids had access to online and at home learning during Covid-19 and provided a steadying hand throughout the pandemic. Thank you Greg for your dedication to our kids and to the continued improvement of OLA.

24.01.2022 Theres only a week and a half left to buy tickets for the disco! Dont forget to put your name on the volunteer roster while youre there - we can only have a disco if we have enough volunteers!

23.01.2022 Please keep our Confirmation candidates in your prayers throughout this weekend, as they take the next step in their journey as Christians.

See you there!

21.01.2022 Tomorrow is Early Childhood Educators Day across Australia. At OLA we have wonderful teachers and assistants in the early years, from Playgroup and Pre-Kindy through to Year 1. We hope they all have a fabulous day tomorrow!

21.01.2022 Well done runners! Congratulations to the kids who placed and to all the kids who participated in todays event. It was wonderful to see so many students running their hearts out for House Points, and even more wonderful to see the team spirit amongst all the students, who cheered on their classmates until everyone made it over the finish line.

19.01.2022 Christmas is soooo close! Make sure your crafty kids know about the Christmas craft club happening in the Library over the next three weeks. We can't wait to see what they create!

19.01.2022 With Fathers Day just behind us, OLA is continuing to support and encourage our dads and father figures with our very own Dads Group, facilitated by The Fathering Project and funded by the OLA Parents and Friends Association. Coordinated by Year 6 Teacher Brian McIntyre, next Wednesday evening will be a great introduction to what the staff have planned for dads and father figures in the coming months. We hope to see you all there!

19.01.2022 Today is World Children's Day, marking the anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of the Rights of the Child in 1959, and the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. 2020 has seen our children grapple with the reality of a global pandemic and the resulting impacts on their lives. On this World Children's Day we acknowledge just how brave our kids have had to be this year and celebrate their resilience!

12.01.2022 It was a busy morning today at OLA, filming interviews with the kids about their experiences here at OLA. Every child was offered the chance to participate in the filming and it was amazing to see that almost all the children (especially in the senior years) wanted to take part. A small selection of the interviews will form part of our next school video, while the others will appear over the coming months on social media and internally - we know youll love them! Thank you to Mr Morris for his expert interview skills - he did a fantastic job and well done to all the kids!

11.01.2022 Thank you to the parents who attended last night's school AGM and to all the staff who came along to hear how the last 12 months have played out at OLA. It was wonderful to learn more about the school's 2020 achievements and future direction. Thanks were also given to outgoing P&F President Nat Cunningham and Board Treasurer Nat Adams. Thank you ladies for your four years of service to the school. OLA would not be where it is without parents like you, who give their time so generously.

11.01.2022 OLA Ministry Groups: Did you know that each year, the Year 6 students are divided into four Ministry Groups? These are - Sustainability, Christian Leadership, Sports and Events. These Ministries provide each Year 6 student with the opportunity to develop their individual leadership skills within an encouraging and meaningful collaboration. The Ministries seek to provide activities for the school that show faith in action and activate the OLA RICE values. SUSTAINABILITY MINISTRY IN FOCUS | The students in the Sustainability Ministry look after the OLA Market Garden, organise Waste-Free Wednesday at recess and lunch, use the worm farm and are about to participate in a project called Mobile Muster, which is a competition to create a video on the recycling of mobile phones. Keep an eye on these environmental warriors!

11.01.2022 This week, OLA has been busy celebrating National Science Week, with our Science Specialist, Mrs Meyerkort, focusing her lessons on the National Science Week theme - Deep Blue: Innovation for the future of our oceans. Each year group enjoyed a lesson based on the Deep Blue, from making waves, creating art, celebrating the magic of the ocean through dance, solving the problem of plastic straws and other plastics contaminating the oceans and creating videos about harnessing wave energy as a renewable energy. If National Science Week is anything to go by, our future is in very capable hands! Well done kids and thank you Mrs Meyerkort for your innovative lessons.
