16.01.2022 As most of you may know, Belinda and I shared 40 days of laughter throughout the COVID lockdown in collaboration with Wyld Tribe. Mostly spontaneous, crazy & random stuff just to break up the intenseness of being isolated in our own homes. We are very lucky here in Perth, WA as now we are free to move as we please around the state and mask free. But others are not so lucky and are having to endure very stressful conditions, our hearts go out to you <3 So we decided to share ...our daily 4.20pm Laughter Yoga during Lockdown sessions via YouTube so they can be watched at any time, anywhere! It's not always easy to laugh BUT it is always good for you! and luckily the body doesn't know the difference between fake laughter & real laughter... you get the same benefits: * great core workout * increases circulation * releases dopamine, ocytocin, seretonin & endorhpins (feel good hormones) * boosts immune system * strengthens the heart So have a watch, do the exercises (even if you feel silly!) and laugh your way to good health.....physically, mentally & emotionally :) We will be uploading 1 session per week over the next 40 weeks, so if you enjoy this one, Hit the subscribe button and follow us on our Laughter during Lockdown journey <3

13.01.2022 Breathing in through the nose and humming produce energy and health-giving nitric oxide. Humming been shown to cause up to 15 times the normal production of Ni...tric oxide gas in the sinuses of the skull [Weitzberg & Lundberg; 2002]. Nitric oxide has many beneficial effects on the body. It is an important signalling molecule that acts in many tissues to regulate a diverse range of physiological processes including vasodilation (expansion of the blood vessel width), neuronal function, inflammation, immune function and in programmed cell death (apoptosis). Nitric oxide has also been implicated in smooth muscle relaxation, pregnancy and blood vessel formation (angiogenesis). Nitric oxide functions as a neurotransmitter in both the central and peripheral nervous systems [Snyder; 1992]. Endogenous and exogenous Nitric oxide possesses anti-parasitic effects on both protozoa and metazoa [Ascenzi et al., 2003]. Nitric oxide has a central anti-stress effect, apparently mediated by limiting the release of catecholamines [Bondarenko et al., 2001]. Bhramari, also known as the humming breath or the bumble bee breath, is a type of breathing exercise (pranayama) that involves audible humming on the exhalation through the nose. This may explain why yogic texts have always regarded bhramari pranayama with high esteem. Note that chanting or singing will produce very similar effects as humming. Note also you can hum or chant in any posture and it is highly likely that even the most subtle and quiet ujjayi pranayama that many ashtanga yoga practitioners use will have the same effect as humming. However, if the ujjayi pranayama (or humming, or chanting or singing) is done with hyperventilation (over-breathing), as is often encouraged in many modern yoga and exercise classes, this usually leads to vasoconstriction (blood vessel diameter shrinking) and will reduce or negate any of the positive effects of the nitric oxide produced. Note also the drug Viagra works by increasing the production of Nitric oxide. Maybe it is cheaper and safer to simply hum!

08.01.2022 In true Lisa form I left it til the last minute to "finish my assignment" so headed to Kitty's Gorge in Jarradale and busted out almost 17km in 4.5 hrs sometimes in torrential rain... so much fun!! Finally completed our Bloody Long Walk and managed to raise $649 towards helping people living with Mitochondrial disease. Massive THANK YOU to all our generous sponsors P.s. We will NOT be doing legs in class this week!

08.01.2022 In 2009 I almost lost my leg after a pretty bad motorbike accident, luckily the surgeons did an amazing job, but I spent the next 12 months on crutches and the recovery was one heck of a journey! I am so so so very grateful to still have the use of my legs (gnarly scars and all!) So I thought I'd put them to good use and raise money for this great cause. 04.01.2022 So this Corona virus has shaken quite a few people up, having to be isolated can be very challenging for many :( Spending time on our own, letting the mind race and fill with uncertainty and fear, which in turn actually affects our immune system :/ not the best thing as we are heading into winter. Yoga is a great way to bring balance to mind & body and can boost your immune system, improve sleep, release stress and strengthen & tone your body. Have you ever tried yoga?
