04.01.2022 Tayla Barber, who won the 12-17 age category in last year’s Waste to Art competition, is keeping her 2020 entry under wraps until the exhibition opens in Novemb...er. It’s a bit of a surprise! the 13-year-old Xavier Catholic College student said. What we can tell you so far is that her entry relates to her passions for marine life and recycling. Every time we go to K’gari (Fraser Island) I collect rubbish that’s washed up on the beaches, she said. I’ve always tried to reduce my carbon footprint on Earth by using less plastic materials when I can. Pictured is her winning entry from last year, which hung in the Council Customer Service Centre at Hervey Bay for some time. Don't miss your chance to enter the 2020 Waste to Art Competition, entries close Sunday 18 October. Categories range from under 8's to over 18's, with cash prizes on offer. More details are available at www.frasercoast.qld.gov.au/wastetoart

01.01.2022 Fraser Coast Regional Council are seeking Expressions of Interest from artists with experience or an interest in community based contemporary street art for various mural projects on walls and pathways within the Fraser Coast Region. Proposed locations are: 40-metre pathway at Lupton Park in Maryborough Wall facing the Torquay Road Skate Park in Pialba Repco building wall facing the Link Mobility Corridor in Hervey Bay... We don’t want to stifle creativity, but it has been suggested that the Lupton Park mural could include children’s games such as a leap frog or snakes and ladders. The designs should reflect each area. Read more about the project and how to apply here https://bit.ly/30jrbMe See more
