21.01.2022 Today we are attending the Down the Track Forum. Congratulations City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder for your Go Bold, MoveToKal initiative :)

20.01.2022 ''About the time we can make the ends meet, somebody moves the ends.'' I've heard this said many times and had no idea that it was a Herbert Hoover quote! It seriously blows my mind that someone who lived in Leonora, visited Kalgoorlie to chat up a barmaid, went on to be the 31st President of the United States.

19.01.2022 Hey Esperance, Our Gems WA is in town for a few today to tell you more about the Gems Project. The website showcases everything to see and do in the Goldfields-Esperance region. Are you on it? www.ourgems.com.au

19.01.2022 I've been struggling to get out of the office lately, so it was lovely to have a long overdue catch up meeting with Tara from Evolution Mining last week. :) It's always good to find out what projects, other people are working on and I got to tell Tara all about the ABCD workshops we have coming up in November.

18.01.2022 *** ESPERANCE - ABCD WORKSHOP *** Discover the power. Focus on your town’s assets, capacity, and opportunities instead of your town’s needs, deficiencies, and limitations. Let’s discuss these three vital questions:... What can communities do that organisations cannot? What can organisations do that communities cannot? What can communities do with organisations that neither can do alone? The relationship between organisations and communities is changing and this change is going to require a shift in behaviour from both officers in organisations and residents in communities. Peter will demonstrate why he believes that the traditional customer segmentation and needs analysis approaches are the way of the past, and that a focus on assets and strengths is the future. This workshop includes morning/afternoon tea and lunch. Join us for the Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) Masterclass with Peter Kenyon About the Facilitator Peter Kenyon - Bank of I.D.E.A.S. Peter refers to himself as a community enthusiast. He is motivated by the desire to help create caring, healthy, inclusive, connected and enterprising communities, where all community members feel ‘they matter, belong and can contribute’, and where communities discover and mobilise their strengths and transform themselves. This workshop is a partnership between the Esperance Volunteers Centre, RDA Goldfields-Esperance and Our Gems WA. ABCD (Asset Based Community Development) Workshop 9.15am 3pm Esperance Yacht Club Tuesday 17 November 2020 $25.00 TICKETING - https://bit.ly/3n42OvT

16.01.2022 Yesterday I posted a 3D video of Land Sailing in Kambalda, but did you get the whole viewing experience? Hold your phone up and spin around while watching. Or better still, sit in a chair that swings around and move in a circle as you watch the video. Give it go, go on

15.01.2022 Another room full of people for the second last Peter Kenyon presentation. Thanks City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder for partnering to make this happen :)

15.01.2022 Excited to be watching the WA Ballet Youth Dance Collective at the Goldfields Arts Centre. Congratulations, it's so great to see our local kids being mentored by WA Ballet

14.01.2022 I didn't know too much about R U OK day until I met Kathy and the Mates 4 Mates Goldfields team. 'THERE'S MORE TO SAY AFTER R U OK?' 2020 has been a challenging year for everyone and circumstances have made it even more important for us all to stay connected and, for those who are able, be willing to support those around us. In the lead-up to R U OK? Day we’ll help Australians know what to say when someone says they’re not OK and guide them through how they can continue a c...onversation that could change a life. You don’t have to be an expert to keep the conversation going when someone says they’re not OK. By knowing what to say you can help someone feel supported and access appropriate help long before they’re in crisis, which can make a really positive difference to their life. There is loads of information on the R U OK website so don't hesitate to download any of their resources.

13.01.2022 Anyone attending the Ravensthorpe Wildflower Show 2020 this year? It's running from the 7th - 16 September and they have this fantastic programme of events so that you don't miss anything. :)

13.01.2022 Looks to me like the clouds can't decide what the weather's going to be today. :) 50% chance of a nice clear day and 50% chance of it being cold and overcast. Either way, have a great day!

09.01.2022 Heritage Walk Trail Kalgoorlie Cemetery Throughout the Eastern Goldfields of WA, the only remains of many mining townships are the small abandoned cemetery's silently telling their stories. The 32 graves featured on the Heritage walk are just a random sample of the countless histories in the Cemetery, but they tell of early exploration, gold finds, mining accidents and heroic rescues. They feature not only our civic fathers and the men of commerce but also the women who stood alongside them. The ravages of typhoid, the strength of the Lodge movement, the importance of music and bands and the background to the 1934 race riots, are all stories to be found in the histories on this walk.

09.01.2022 Time to clear the mind.

08.01.2022 Someone is excited about today's road trip to Leonora and Laverton :)

07.01.2022 Early morning networking in Norseman before this mornings Peter Kenyon workshop.

06.01.2022 Devonshire Tea anyone? I met some lovely visitors yesterday who were kicking back in the sun, at Warden Finnerty's in Coolgardie, enjoying homemade scones and a cuppa. The scones are made while you are walking around the house so they are served hot and the coffee machine was churning out cuppa's like there was no tomorrow.... If you're looking for something to do over the school holidays, this is fun for everyone. :) #OurGemsWA #CoolgardieVisitorsCentre #WardenFinnertyHouse

06.01.2022 There are some great opportunities coming up around the region.

06.01.2022 Spending a few hours at Esperance Community Arts this morning. There's so many things to look at, so pop in next time your down.

05.01.2022 Apparently, this is all the tourism attractions we have? Should we be doing this kind of advertising differently? If we cant find you, we cant support you.

05.01.2022 I have a love/hate relationship with Facebook. I love reliving memories but then get sad when I realise how quickly time flies :) One year ago today I was heading up to the NG Lands for what turned out to be an experience of a lifetime. It was a bit scary (from the stories I had heard) but I was well looked after by some wonderful people.

05.01.2022 I feel like I have done a slow blink, and three weeks have passed! The Our Gems office has been busy over the last few weeks with lots of work being done on the website, organising some great workshops, writing a couple of funding applications and attending a couple of fabulous workshops. Throw in a trip to Perth, some productive meetings and some unproductive meetings, and BINGO! Three weeks have gone by. ... Hoping things will slow down a little bit in the next couple of weeks. If they don't my next post might be Merry Christmas!

04.01.2022 Valentines Day is coming up. Keeping with the Shop Local theme, think about all the amazing artists around the region.

01.01.2022 There are still a few seats available for tonight and tomorrow in Kalgoorlie. Why don't you come along :)
