25.01.2022 Check out this view! It's easy to think we're in a faraway island resort but this gorgeous seaside pool is located in Geelong's Eastern Beach - and totally free to enjoy! (Just a few dollars for parking.) While the pool is a designated children's swimming area (60cm to 1.2m deep), parents are welcome to join their kids for a dip or lounge beneath the umbrellas on the side while keeping an eye on the little ones. There's a playground, public toilets and electric BBQs here... too, along with sheltered seating areas. Beyond is a gated (shark proof) sea pool - great for everyone who likes deep, clear water swimming and snorkeling (plenty of fish to see here!) with diving boards and floating decks provided. In all our years living in Melbourne and visits to Geelong, we hadn't discovered this place until a few days ago! After spending a few glorious hours here, we're definitely keen to return in Summer!

17.01.2022 How cute are these little beach shacks?! There are 82 in total, each differently coloured and ALL of them adorable! Just 20 minutes from Melbourne's CBD, these iconic Brighton Beach bathing boxes are a popular addition to thousands of selfies (including ours), enticing locals and tourists since the early 1900s. It may be hard to believe (my mind was blown) but these tiny wooden huts cost a massive amount of cash to purchase and are some of Victoria's most expensive real estate. The record winning bid for a single beach box was a staggering $285,000! As much as we'd love to own one, we'll settle for enjoying them for free - admiring their beauty and charm with a stroll along the beach is pleasing enough for us!

12.01.2022 During one of our trips to the sunny shores of Queensland's Gold Coast, in search of a place to do some snorkeling, we were delighted to have discovered Snapper Rocks! 34km from Surfers Paradise, close to the border of NSW, this stunning section of Rainbow Bay in Coolangatta has sea pools sheltered from the waves by the surrounding rocks. Filled with crystal clear warm water, a variety of beautiful fish can easily be seen from above and below the surface. For a few hours, ...I felt I'd entered a mermaid's realm - this place is truly magical! We had a fantastic day snorkeling, swimming and exploring the nearby Froggy Beach and Point Danger before relaxing on the shore to watch the gorgeous cotton-candy sunset. We couldn't ask for more! Had we brought food with us, we would have eaten on the grassy area by the beach where there are benches and picnic tables (with a view!) but instead we enjoyed a meal at Rainbow Bay Surf Club Bar - it was a delicious end to a busy day of fun in the sun! If you're in the area, we highly recommend checking out this little slice of paradise for yourself - it's better than the photos!

03.01.2022 Trentham Falls (90km from central Melbourne) is the highest single drop waterfall in Victoria with a flow length of 32 metres. The waterfall, situated amongst ancient basalt columns and the surrounding bushland, creates a tranquil setting for hiking and picnics, with a toilet block, tables and fireplaces provided. Camping is not allowed here but it's a beautiful place to spend the day relaxing with the sound of flowing water and crackling fire (check local/online fire perm...its as this varies depending on seasons/weather). We were delighted to find a curious Echidna strolling along one of the walking trails, accompanied by very many beautiful birds, including wrens, kookaburras, cockatoos, galahs, rosellas and more - keep a look out for kangaroos, lizards, snakes and other wildlife - so many amazing creatures call this place home! Trentham Falls is an impressive sight to behold from above and below - while there are fences in place at the top, there's a long, winding path to the base of the falls through thick scrub and bushland for the more adventurous types (such as ourselves!). This is one of our favourite locations in Victoria, a place we'll never tire of admiring. Can you see why?

02.01.2022 Do you have a favourite city? We've always preferred nature (still do) but we fell in love with Surfers Paradise, especially being so close to the beach and surrounded by gorgeous waterways! Plus all the beautiful palm trees, plants, birds, bats and flowers throughout, it's truly our definition of a "concrete jungle"! The night comes alive with bars, clubs, street performers and balmy weather, plus spotlights on the beach illuminating the waves and fairy lights hung in the palms and parks. This city has so much to offer, whether it be the scenery, watersports, river cruises, food, leisure activities, shopping, casino, parks, gardens or beach (of course), there really is something for everyone to enjoy - and we sure do!
