11.01.2022 It's pumpkin time! We love to make this pumpkin/cashew/parmesan dip. It seems to make everyone who tastes it immediately yell "I need this recipe!" So here it is - Take about 250 grams pumpkin, cut into small pieces and roast it with olive oil until soft and starting to brown. Allow to cool and then add it to a food processor along with 120 grams cashews (preferably raw unsalted), 65 grams shredded parmesan cheese, 1 clove garlic (grated or finely chopped), 60ml olive oil and 10ml apple cidar vinegar (or you could use a squeeze of lemon instead). Blitz together to your preferred consistency (could leave it a bit chunky, or make it smoother).Add some salt and pepper or a pinch of paprika if you think it needs it. Delicious with crackers, carrot sticks, or on sandwiches. #pumpkin #dip #growcookeat
10.01.2022 Goodness, one of our chooks laid this whopping 80g egg! Commercially it may have been wasted as it's over the standard weights and doesn't fit in an egg carton, but we will certainly enjoy it! #offthecharts #waragainstwaste
09.01.2022 "Are you sure you can eat them...you're not trying to kill us are you?" was the enthusiastic response when I advised we were having dahlia fritters for dinner. I used the tubers as a substitute for zucchini in my fav zucchini fritters recipe and they were great! A nice blog post that gave me the idea for fritters is at http://homegrown-revolution.co.uk/buried-/eatindahlia-yams/ . We're still alive...
08.01.2022 It's a new delight having so many eggs! We certainly never had enough to share with family when we had a few Pekins....now we have four cross breed laying chooks, the eggs just don't stop coming! #lovemychooks #fresheggseveryday
07.01.2022 Homegrown star fruits! They're SO much sweeter than those in the shops as they get to fully ripen on the tree. We really rate these juicy fruits. #starfruit
