24.01.2022 "New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has dedicated the East River State Park in Brooklyn to Marsha P. Johnson, making it country's first state park to honor an LGBTQ person, according to the state. Cuomo made the announcement on Monday, on what would have been the transgender civil rights icon's 75th birthday" Whilst it is wonderful that Marsha has been commemorated and we recognise the reason we live today with more rights and freedoms is because of people like Marsha P. Johnson, we must continue their fight against inequality whenever we see it. With eternal gratitude for your bravery, we say thank you to Marsha P. Johnson. Never forget.

13.01.2022 The drummond street community are devastated after learning that our member of staff, Basant, and his two young children are mourning the death of their wife and mother after she died in a tragic accident. Basant's wife, Rosy, a 38-year-old mother-of two fell from the Grampians. Rosy and Basant have given so much to community, with Rosy working as a community worker and Basant working with drummond streets FOODS program, feeding and delivering material aid to vulnerable and d...isadvantaged people. Now it's time to give Basant and his two young children some community support. Without family in Australia and now being a single father, the costs of raising a family, funeral costs and bills are going to be hard to meet without the support of others. We know this year has been challenging but if you can we strongly encourage you to help Basant and his 2 children. If you can't afford to give, please share.

03.01.2022 For the LGBTQI community, where many individuals already face significant social isolation, this comes as welcome news Karen Field CEO of drummond street services told Star Observer. Since entering into stage 4 the impact on peoples mental health in particular has been unbelievable. We have had a trebling of those who have some form of suicidal ideation or poor mental health. Being able to set up some form of peer support from someone who can be inside your bubble is so vi...tal to us being socially connected. Its pretty tough when you lose not only your health supports but also social supports too. The 5km travel limit will not apply to travel bubbles between single person households, however, the 9pm curfew will and concerns surrounding how these new arrangements will be policed still remain. The one thing that is missing, in the surveillance and the policing of this is that its not just about police knocking on someones door but also about neighbours understanding that some people living alone need this kind of connection, Field explained. People need to hold compassion for one another and understanding the really tough run it is for some people.
