24.01.2022 You may have seen people on Wednesday with a black patch on the forehead. The patch was ash in the form of a cross. That person is a Christian who was observing Ash Wednesday. Ash Wednesday is the first day of the Christian season of Lent and is a time of preparation for Good Friday and Easter. We will enjoy the mid-semester break from lectures and tutorials at Easter and the Christian Feast of Easter is the reason behind the holiday. Roy, the chaplain on campus, is open to d...iscuss this further if you come to see him in the Student Support Unit. Ask for Roy at Reception and you will be shown his ofice, or if you prefer make an appointment to see him at a time convenient to both of us, on Tuesday to Friday..He is, of course, open to discuss anything concerning your welfare at any time. Your "like" and "comments"on his posts are much appreciated. See more
14.01.2022 Hi, everyone in isolation, This is Roy, the chaplain with another message. I am trying like you, to work from home or as someone posted You are not working from home. You are at home in a time of crisis trying to work.. How true I am finding this post! Like you I am studying onine and am finding it so different, frustrating at times, challenging on others and requiring strict discipline to accomplish anything from the online bit. We are living in times and conditions that... we have not previously experienced. I am still thinking of you, caring about you, praying for you and am available to you if you wish to speak with me on the phone even if I am just another voice for you to hear if that helps your isolation. Send me an email addressed to [email protected] including your phone number and I will return your call. Don’t stress on your own when you can share it with someone else or with me knowing that it is always confidential. Here are a couple of points to remember and do: 1. Have plenty of rest, sleep well 2. Take time out from the screen every couple of hours 3. Stretch, walk and do a little exercise 4. Pray or do a meditation 5. Maintain contact with some classmates by phone or other social media sources 6. Attend lectures online and keep up your studies. 7. Be happy working from home in these different circumstances. 12.01.2022 Hi, everyone. It is Roy, the chaplain, who writes again in isolation to all in isolation and those able to return to campus. We are now almost on the home turn in relation to this semester. Make sure you maintain your routine of study, attending lectures on line, finishing assignments and all the other things that must happen while at home. My best wishes and prayers go out to all of you. If you would like to talk with me, send me an email including your phone number and I shall return the call. Please continue to "like" the messages I send each week. Take care, stay safe, eat healthy foods. be cool.
05.01.2022 Hi, everyone. It is Roy again in our isolation and on our online learning.I trust that by now you have worked out a disciplined routine for your study and listening to lectures etc. in addition to all the other things that may be happening in your household. Try to make sure that you have a study space that is yours and that when you enter it your brain knows what is your purpose at that time. I am trying to maintain this routine for myself and I know how difficult it can be to preserve. Even though you do not see me around I am still thinking of you, praying for you and hoping to see you again on campus soon. You can still contact me with an email at my usual address [email protected] with your telephone number and I shall give you a call. Take care, stay well and keep up your studies.
04.01.2022 A message from the chaplain: Roy was asked last week not to come on campus for the sake of his health and the health of those around him. He is in the most vulnerable age group to contract the coronavirus. Consequently, you will not see him on campus, but this does not mean that he does not care for your welfare. You are constantly in his thoughts and above all else his prayers. Should you feel the need to talk with him, please send a message to his email address:([email protected]) including your phone number and he will willingly respond with a return call. We are living in life-changing, scary times with help available to you in various ways. A chat with me is one way to have someone with whom to talk. Take care of yourselves, your own physical, mental and spiritual health. Talk soon!
02.01.2022 Roy, the chaplain, has an office in the Student Support Unit building. You are welcome to pay him a visit. Simply ask for Roy at the front desk and you will be pointed in his direction. Wherever he is on campus, either in the office or walking around he will be wearing a blue polo shirt with CHAPLAIN on the back of the shirt.he will listen to your joys and accomplishments as well as your problems and anything else about which you would like to talk. He has spoken with students in the office and around campus during the week. This is a joy to him. Enjoy your time as a student at UoN and catch up with the chaplain. May you have a good, enjoyable and peaceful week-end.
