25.01.2022 AUSLAN IN EMERGENCIES - Our Year 6 students have been learning First Aid and Emergency signs in Auslan lessons. The ability to sign to a deaf or hearing impaired patient and assist a doctor or a paramedic could potentially be lifesaving in an emergency situation. Awesome work Year 6!

23.01.2022 NAIDOC WEEK Always was, always will be, was the theme for this year’s NAIDOC week. Children have had the opportunity to be involved in traditional Aboriginal sports and games at lunch time, they have engaged in Aboriginal art activities and listened to Aboriginal stories. We were fortunate to have both Ashley Humes, a Miss Naidoc finalist and Katelan Stack, Miss Naidoc 2020 talk to our students.

14.01.2022 REMEMBRANCE DAY - Our school community gathered at the eleventh hour hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month to acknowledge those who lost their lives and the profound contribution of of Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander people who volunteered to enlist, standing side by side other Australians to answer the call of duty/

11.01.2022 REMEMBRANCE DAY November 11 is a day to remember the service and sacrifice of our fallen men and women who gave their lives in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations.

11.01.2022 SCIENCE WEEK - The theme for Science Week was Deep Blue ... innovation of our oceans. Each class made a sea creature and the staff were treated to a special morning tea and a quiz.

10.01.2022 PURCHASE HATS FROM THE OFFICE Our Lady of Mercy Primary School has a No Hat No Play policy, and as we move into the warmer months it is essential that all students attend school with a hat for recess, lunch and all sport classes. The athletics carnival is next Thursday, 24 September at Hudson Park Oval. All students MUST attend with a hat. We now have hats available for purchase from the Admin Office for $10.50 each. Cash and Eftpos facilities are available.

10.01.2022 Thank you P&F for arranging the disco - we all had so much fun! Funds raised go towards purchasing resources for the school.

08.01.2022 NAIDOC WEEK - Inspiring role models Melissa Billy-Rooney (Transforming Lives Engagement Officer) with Katelan Stack, Miss Naidoc 2020. We were also fortunate to have Ashley Humes, a Miss Naidoc finalist, join us. Both young ladies spoke of their passions and encouraged our children, especially our graduating Year 6 students to follow their dreams, to have a growth mindset and to believe that anything they put their hearts and minds to, is possible.

07.01.2022 BRING CRUNCHY VEGETABLES ON MONDAY On Monday 21 September we are taking part in the Great Veggie Crunch during crunch & sip. We will all be taking a big bite out of our vegetables at the same time, so see how loud we can crunch!

04.01.2022 Congratulations to the children on their First Eucharist Celebration. We thank Father Sam for the beautiful Mass.

04.01.2022 ENCHANTED TERM FOR YEAR 1 We have had an enchanted Term 3 in Year 1! We discovered a magic porridge pot which led us into writing our own narratives with magical characters and items. We delved into fairy-tale art pieces, one of which was creating our own dream catchers. We explored the wonders of God, focusing on the seven days of creation and met our new friend Olman, who shared Aboriginal stories, dances and items with us.

03.01.2022 HAPPY FATHERS DAY We celebrate Fathers Day and give thanks for all our dads, as well as those who take on the role of fathers in our lives. Fathers Day is a time to celebrate fathers and the many sacrifices they make for children and families, in ways both big and small. We also remember fathers who have passed or are absent; grandfathers and uncles, brothers and cousins, teachers and coaches. We think of you all today.
