24.01.2022 "At the end of the day, what it is is bringing the kids back on country, it gives them the self-identity, gives them the time to self-reflect without the pressure of town life." Patrick Cooke, Mona Aboriginal Corporation.

24.01.2022 Now, perhaps more than ever, a growing number of visitors want to engage with and explore the intact and pristine environments that are on offer in national parks. 21.01.2022 Our Living Outback welcomes the Queensland Government's $36 million for national parks and nature refuges in today's State Budget. This funding will go towards creating new national parks and supporting more private landholders to protect nature on their patch. Before the 2020 election, Queensland Labor Government released an ambitious plan to protect and maintain Queensland's natural heritage. But such an ambitious plan needs ambitious funding. And today we haven't seen that.... Queensland is growing our protected area estate at a snail’s pace. It's time to fund our national parks and protected areas as Queensland recovers - for our wildlife, for our tourism and for our regional jobs. #Budget2020 #itsinournature #BuildBackBetter

19.01.2022 With the effects of climate change, changes in land use and increasing introduced pests, people and nature are bearing the brunt of changing fire patterns. Well-managed national parks and protected areas on private land can be part of the solution.

Good to see our Premier appreciating our natural assets as Queensland welcomes visitors from New South Wales and Victoria. Seeing as our national parks are in such high demand, we reckon it's time the Government funds them better so we can grow and better manage national parks for all visitors to explore.... www.ausleisure.com.au//queensland-government-launches-maj/ : Tourism and Events Queensland.

12.01.2022 "Mapping gamba grass using satellite imagery unlocks the potential to frequently map large areas so we can get a better picture of where gamba grass is across northern Australia, and how quickly it is spreading. Managers can then target areas that are the highest priority for control, such as biodiversity-rich areas or culturally important sites." -- Associate Professor Samantha Setterfield, The University of Western Australia

11.01.2022 It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! And more and more people are visiting Queensland's beautiful national parks and protected areas. 08.01.2022 With the global pandemic lingering, our incredible national parks are set to contribute to Queensland's tourism industry well into the future. With the heavier reliance on domestic tourism under the COVID-19 travel constraints, our parks will be making an even greater economic contribution to many Queensland regions. Dr Richard Brown, UQ School of Economics. The impact of the COVID trauma is driving a greater focus on core values the essentials of life and appears to make us all yearn for a bit of peace and quiet...What better place than a national park to find just that. Daniel Gschwind, CEO Queensland Tourism Industry Council.

07.01.2022 Inasmuch as there is recognition of climate change as a driver of biodiversity loss, it must also be realised that conserving and sustainably managing biodiversity is right at the core of climate action. As we continue to face the challenges of biodiversity loss and climate change, business as usual should no longer be acceptable. Theresa Mundita Lim, ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity Executive Director. Let's keep the ball rolling right here in Queensland! It's time to protect at least 17% of Queensland's land through national parks and protected areas on private land in line with global commitments and support those working on the ground to keep them resilient for future generations.

02.01.2022 Something to keep in mind if you're getting out and about over the festive season
