01.01.2022 There's something wrong here! It looks idyllic - but there's a problem. Can you pick it? It's a section of Middle Creek that Baranduda Landcare and partners ha...ve transformed from a woody weed infestation to a restored native creek line. But rather than a nice red gum - that's a highly invasive Black Willow seedling (2m + on the left foreground). And it's got plenty of mates including lots of Crack Willow (and Box Elder seedlings are popping up too). BLCare continues to add value to the many km's of restored Middle Ck reserve. We've recently engaged a wader wearing contractor to cut and paste regenerating willow in the narrow time window left before these deciduous weeds lose their leaves and before the water gets too deep with the impending Autumn rain break. See some of this at tomorrow's field day (see earlier posts for details). 01.01.2022 Yesterday we hosted a presentation from Fleur Stelling organised by Wodonga Urban Landcare Network. She gave a very detailed introduction to local species identification and production. During her presentation she covered the changing climate and how we can help the environment, how seeds are formed, sowing of seeds, how to strike cuttings and the division of plants. She also highlighted the importance of taking care when pricking out how not to form J roots preventing unhe...althy trees. Thank you to Fleur for the visit and sharing your experience with us. Thank you to Wodonga Urban Landcare Network for organising such a wonderful event. We all look forward to part 2 in December #wodongaurbanlandcarenetwork #landcare #climatechange #future #thankyou #wodonga #albury
