25.01.2022 Just had a wonderful chat with The General Manager of Club Thirroul Michelle Lipscombe, who praised the work of dedicated members who have given generously to the fire relief. There are heroes in our midst. From a marketer's perspective giving genously is good for the brand. Clubs are in a premium position to do this, as important places for our communities. From the perspective of a member of this community, all I see is that the club gives us a chance to channel our desperation into something helpful. It's authentic. Congrats Club Thirroul #nswbushfires #oursliceofpie #givingback

24.01.2022 A simple idea that connects with most of us innately, but it's good business sense too. From the latest marketing research, here I confirm insights on how to develop an authentic brand and offer advice on how to show you do what you promise https://www.linkedin.com//doing-what-you-promise-penny-ke/

22.01.2022 We just had a nice chat with Violet, owner at Cucina Cucina, about how much she loved joining forces with the other cafes and businesses on the street to raise money for the bushfire relief. Whatever the competitive streak, I love that they came together in a time of need and just pitched in. Violet tells me together the street of businesses and their customers have raised over $20,000 for the Salvos and Vinnies. Amazing. The Mercury did a nice story on the efforts recently. #bushfires #thirroul https://www.illawarramercury.com.au//thirroul-cafes-offe/

19.01.2022 That's it for another semester at UOW. I enjoyed our last tutorial for PR Concepts with the undergraduates. What a pleasure these students are to teach. So enthusiastic, dedicated and interested in the content. Wishing you all the best in the exams! #uow #unilife #ThisIsUOW #business #educationmatters #pr #undergraduates #allthebest

18.01.2022 We spare a thought for our industrious food, beverage and hospitality community as they ride out this wave of uncertainty, by switching to food orders instead of dining in. Here we interview a few local venues who share their experience getting through this tough time and how we can help. https://www.oursliceofpie.com//in-this-time-of-need-it-s-t

18.01.2022 It's been a little while since I've posted, because I am thrown by these global events. I'm feeling for my community of hospitality and food and beverage producers. One positive way they are being supported is this wonderful Facebook site to use to post all the takeaways now available. Check is out! https://www.facebook.com/groups/811515962701525/

18.01.2022 Check this out all! #supportlocal

17.01.2022 What has changed since COVID-19 for your business? A chat with Adrian Giuliani, co-owner from Cin Cin pizza cucina bar and IL NIDO TRATTORIA PIZZERIA, (and home of the amazing Tim Tam and Nutella Calzone!) revealed a focus on family. For us our focus is making sure families with children of all ages feel welcome. It’s about creating an ambience, with good food and good service, that gives a warm feeling. We implemented a COVID safety plan. It’s important the patrons and staf...f feel safe. We now have contactless deliveries as well as QR sign in at the restaurant. We have widened our takeaway delivery area, with more online takeaway options now being offered, including deli items, dry goods and alcohol. We’re always adapting and changing, however we still hold onto the core of the business as taught by my parents and Nonna, said Adrian. Congrats Adrian! #sliceofpie #thirroul #illawarrafoodie

15.01.2022 Who inspires you in the industry? Here Cheeky Taco owner and long-time chef Sosan Marabani sends a big shout out to the beautiful Slavia, owner of Philanthropy Tribe, whose book and coffee shop is an inspiration. Also, Simon Lawson from Agape Organic Food Truck was a life changing mentor. Here’s to a big back pat for Slavia and Simon for your work supporting another great professional in our industry! #illawarrafood

07.01.2022 Great to see Anthony and Belinda again of @fannysfabfare who I popped in on @thejetty_ccbc. They are right now celebrating their Dad’s Day Sunday Session, serving to a relaxed crowd. So come on down and check it out. I featured Fanny’s Fab Fare in the latest edition of @coalcoastmag, which was released this week. That’s certainly something to keep an eye out for. #oursliceofpie #fannysfabfare #thejetty . .... . #illawarrafood #wollongongfoodie #thirroul #coalcoast #northernillawarra #gongeats #gongfoodie #wollongong #southcoast #southcoastnsw #illawarrafood #illawarrafoodie #wollongonghospocrew #foodandbeverage #foodindustryconsulting #digitalfoodmarketing

07.01.2022 Seen the latest edition of Coal Coast Mag? Issue 7 is our now, and what do you know? My article featured, with tips on eating out with kids in the Illawarra. Do hope it’s useful #coalcoastmag

05.01.2022 I enjoyed stepping into The Old South. So did the kids. Love those waffle fries! Co-owner Aaron made a point of sending his good vibes to the rest of the Thirroul restaurants who have banded together to support Aaaron and his team. Nice to hear it’s a tight bunch. Graham from South Sailor round while Aaron was building. Chris from Blackbird Thirroul stepped in to cover a shift in a tight spot. Good to be part of this hospitality community. #wollongonghospocrew

05.01.2022 Here's a nice guy. I caught up with Samaras Omah at Bulli Bowling Greens on the weekend as he set up his food van to locals, operating it like a drive through. Excellent set up, with no contact. There were always five or six cars in a line. That's cause it's so yummy! https://www.illawarramercury.com.au//the-illawarra-food-/
