14.01.2022 This is potentially the biggest thing we have heard to secure Tenterfield's Economic Future which is super exciting.... but we need your help for 1min.... Tenterfield Shire Council is looking to diversity and revitalise its economy by creating an Adventure Tourism hub centered around the CBD and hinging off new world-class mountain bike trails. The development would represent the largest mountain bike trail destination in Australia and the Angry Bull Mountain Bike Trails (Fin...al Name for the Trails is yet to be Determined) would feature the following: 150kms of single track and trails in a picturesque environment surrounded by National Parks, Forests and Farm Land The longest downhill track in Australia A 400m gravity track close to the town centre A pump track in the Tenterfield CBD Links back to the CBD for riders to access accommodation, meals and shopping An Adventure Tourism Hub offering other activities, such as bush walking, horse riding, rock climbing, fishing, fossicking, farm stays and cultural and heritage attractions. With the assistance of Regional Development Australia (Northern Inland NSW), Council is conducting a feasibility study into creating a mountain bike destination in the shire and is seeking input from riders to help gauge the market appeal for such a destination. To complete the online survey (takes approximately 1 minute), click here and help inform the study by sharing the survey link with your mountain biking & sporting friend contacts: www.surveymonkey.com/r/AngryBullBMTs If you have any queries regarding this survey, please contact David Thompson, Senior Project Officer, RDA - Northern Inland at [email protected]. 12.01.2022 Good morning Friday from Rouse St Tenterfield and hello weekend again! 11.01.2022 RM Williams ownership is set to stay in Australian and will continue to be made here in Adelaide thanks to Andrew Twiggy Forest who has just bought the brand back off an American private equity firm! Exciting news for the RM Williams brand and those that love Australia Owned and Made! When Louis Vouitton took over the brand, they removed lots of country store accounts so let’s hope this new direction will ensure towns like Tenterfield can stock these great boots and clothes ...again in some of our great retail stores. https://www.google.com.au//920eb858-6d6e-4fe2-9f15-c70a715

11.01.2022 Better Homes & Garden comes to Tenterfield! What better way to get Tenterfield on the national map and in front of 500,000 primetime viewers than to have one of Australia’s best TV programs on Channel 7 come to town about Gardening, Decorating, DIY Projects, Food and all things good! This week, some of the cast and crew focused on two very special offerings in Tenterfield in that of White Cottage which is one of Tenterfield's hidden gems, an oasis in the country and a must vi...sit for all lovers of cottage gardens, flower farms and vintage and farmhouse wares. The other was one of Australia’s most popular former journalists turned pecan farmer, Annabel Hickson who is based in the Dumaresq Valley west of Tenterfield in the Tenterfield Shire which she lives with her husband and three children. Annabelle is a keen cook, photographer and blogs about her love of food and flowers especially those that she sources from around the Tenterfield region. Galah is a new publication that Annabelle is producing that focuses on country life from a creative perspective, through a flagship quarterly print publication, as well as podcasts and newsletters and social media Some of the food supplied to the cast and crew was done by Lara Flanagan one of Tenterfield’s most scrumptious cooks, photographers and bloggers about all things food and lifestyle, rounding off what we hope was an enjoyable few days for everyone in town. Exciting stuff! We will let everyone know when the episode is due to go to air as we are sure it will make for some great viewing to make everyone aware and proud of what Tenterfield has to offer!

10.01.2022 Nearly 140,000 people have been reached through the Facebook post of ours on Tuesday relating to bringing a network of Mountain Bike Trails to Tenterfield to create a sustainable long term economy for the town! The number of surveys done has been record amounts according to Regional Development Australia of over 2,500 at last count and the messages of support from outside the region has been overwhelming to say the least. We will be keeping everyone posted on the outcomes ov...er the coming months should the business case be successful with next steps been and a feasibility study by a trail network company who designs these world class trails. Thanks to each and everyone of you for this support and the people in Tenterfield who have embraced this opportunity as it has no doubt given the project team working on this a real boost. Thanks also to one of our locals Shayle who sent us this photo yesterday when out riding... just made our day and depicted riding in Rural Australia so well!

08.01.2022 A Failing Rural Health System..... well if it takes 60Minutes last night and Liz Hayes to shed some light onto an issue that so many rural towns like Tenterfield have been screaming about for years, then so be it! Last nights show for those that didn’t watch, shon the light on what is evident in so many rural towns like ours in that our main stream health services of the last 40 years have been in steady decline. From staffing and facility issues at Hospital, having GPs that... stay in our towns, limited quality of extended medical services like physio, mental health, dental, rehab and the list goes on. Why... because out towns don’t make financial sense and the mighty dollar and data crunching in our state governments and the plethora of many regional medical departments is drowning in red tape and beaucracy... and it’s getting worse. There are more organisations, more departments, more governance than ever and yet we have more problems! How do our powers to be not get this... that old saying of too many chiefs and not enough Indians certainly resonates in this debate. The government are talking about decentralising our propulation and post COVID lots more people are going to want to move to regional and rural areas so we wonder when the penny is going to drop for the government to stop number crunching and provide the necessary funds to rural towns. They waste so much money in other areas...Often millions and millions, sometimes billions of dollars, so why are they number crunching our health! The most important thing we all have... our lives! The communities of rural towns need to speak up and as the NSW Governor General the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC QC said when she came to Tenterfield this year, this needs to be a priority for our town to fix... she knows we have a problem... but what’s getting done? Unite as a community and get a voice for the people to hear is what she said! The fear of retribution for speaking about what’s wrong needs to stop... especially when lives matter and it’s the right and moral thing to say something! Thanks Liz.. let’s hope this coverage assist to start some much needed change! https://www.google.com.au//3d7cbddc-08df-481e-807e-c83a87e

07.01.2022 A Building that actually plays music! Seriously, have you ever heard of one that does! Well welcome to The Piano Mill at Harrigans Lane Willsons Downfall in the Tenterfield Shire in the northern part of our district near Liston. This architecturally designed dwelling was purpose-built to house sixteen reclaimed pianos in a tower structure. The instrument is designed to have the sixteen pianos played, is a unique architectural feature, homage to the musical history of outback... Australia, and an outrageous musical instrument all in one. The square structure clad in copper, is designed by architect Bruce Wolfe (Conrad Gargett) and is purpose-built to house these sixteen pianos eight on the first level and eight on the mezzanine. The walls consist of large-scale louvres, which can be opened and shut to alter the Mill's acoustic. Sixteen pianos have been sourced from the Brisbane, Stanthorpe, Warwick and Toowoomba areas. Many are quite serviceable, and even reasonably in tune, while a few are more dilapidated, with wonky keys and bung notes. The concept is that the pianos be kept in the original, "found" state, to evoke the weathered sound of the outback. Bruce and Jocelyn Wolf the owners of this amazing asset have got some exciting things on the horizon as we see restrictions ease. And with the the newly created Harrigans Lane Collective, hopefully 2021 is going to mean some exciting times for artists and visitors alike to embrace this amazing location and what The Piano Mill has to offer! Just another great thing in the Tenterfield Shire to enjoy! Harrigans Lane Collective 323 Harrigans Lane, Willson’s Downfall NSW 2372 https://www.harriganslanecollective.com.au/
