21.01.2022 On the New Intercity Fleet, once the train doors are closed, the guards can't hear you shout. That means incidents like Maria's could be fatal. Hers is one of many stories where commuters were able to get the attention of a train guard, who then quickly intervened to stop the train in the nick of time. Preventing guards from performing their role and forcing safety responsibility onto drivers is a disaster waiting to happen. We must tell the NSW Government to ensure all train...s on our network are safe and staffed by qualified guards. Do you have a story of being saved by a train guard? Let us know here: https://ourtransport.org.au/close-call-story/

19.01.2022 Martin Stewart, a commuter who was severely injured when he was dragged by a guardless train, won a promise from Minister Constance that guards would always be retained on NSW trains. Now with the introduction of the flawed and dangerous New InterCity Fleet, Minister Constance is reneging on that promise, and Martin has a message for him: "I am the consequence of getting it wrong." We cannot allow guards to be removed from trains in NSW. Watch the full story from Channel 9!

18.01.2022 Do you want to be on the news? We're looking for people who have been saved by a train guard to help us campaign against the dangerous New Intercity Fleet. Many of our supporters have shared stories of close calls, where shouting to get the attention of staff or an eagle-eyed guard saved a life. But these new trains will make it hard for guards to see you, and impossible to hear you once the doors are closed. It's a risk we cannot take.... If you're willing to share your story with the world, just fill in your details on Our Transport. We'll get in touch if a journalist wants to speak to you!

15.01.2022 Have you been saved by a train guard? Guards help keep our train network safe every day. But the design of theNew Intercity Fleet trains, which are now testing in NSW, prevents guards from properly monitoring the platform from their door, transferring safety responsibilities to drivers instead. We are collecting stories from commuters that showcase the importance of train guards and the dangers of the NIF operating model.... The close calls witnessed by Lynda in her story might have been fatal on the NIF, where the crew are locked in a soundproofed cabin before departure, unable to hear the shouting outside. Send an email to the Transport Minister and Transport for NSW now, and tell them guards must be able to perform their vital safety role on our trains: https://ourtransport.org.au/guarding-our-safety/

14.01.2022 The NSW Government promised that communities would be consulted on the privatisation of their buses. Now it's time to make them keep that promise. Join our online Community Forum next week and help us plan what's next. Register now: https://ourtransport.org.au/community-forum/

12.01.2022 Last week we heard that nine Inner West bus routes are on the chopping block. Now buses in regions 7, 8 and 9 face a similar fate if privatisation goes ahead. People rely on public transport, regardless of whether it's profitable. That's why it's a public service, that needs to stay in public hands! Read the full article in the comments.

09.01.2022 Community advocates have won yet another Parliament debate on the privatisation of our buses today! Michael Daley MP and Marjorie O’Neill - Member for Coogee will oppose plans to slash 16 bus routes in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs. The debate will take place at 4pm today. Email your MP now and tell them to oppose cuts to our public bus services https://ourtransport.org.au/email-your-mp/

05.01.2022 The New Intercity Fleet shifts safety responsibilities from guards to drivers in a stealthy move to Driver-Only Operations. After using the 'simulator', our members reported that the CCTV monitoring in the driver's cab is impossible - with so many screens to watch at once while actually driving the train, it is difficult to spot split-second incidents on the platform outside. That's exactly why we have train guards - and now the NSW Government and Transport for NSW are trying... to remove them at huge risk to the travelling public. If you've witnessed a close call on our train network where a guard was able to intervene, share your story here: https://ourtransport.org.au/close-call-story/
