25.01.2022 We spent the last day of the year with our niece and nephew at the farm. They had a great time on the ride on mower as well as looking after the animals and collecting eggs. Also pulled a few weeds and picked some carrots for themselves for dinner. See you all next year. Have a safe and happy New year.

19.01.2022 Thanks everyone. Was really feeling the love at market today. Glad you all thought of us when organizing your Christmas day. Sorry to those that missed out. It was a crazy first 40 minutes where we sold nearly everything (and yes we brought extra this week). Don't forget, we are there every week. ... Love you all, and thanks for your support with our tiny little local business.

18.01.2022 Having a traditional roast for Christmas? We have plenty of beets, radish and baby carrots you can add to your roast meat and veg. We also have plenty to add into a salad as well (It is meant to be a little hot). Or, mix the two and have a roast veggie salad like I am having tonight. (I do think it should probably have some walnuts or seeds added though). ... So head on down to the Mount Gambier Farmers Market outside the public library tomorrow morning (Saturday)

15.01.2022 We have twins!!! The newest members of Our Veggie Patch born yesterday. Cutest things ever.

13.01.2022 Baby!!! We have our first baby lamb here at Our Veggie Patch. Born today. Such a cute little girl. ... Such a good first time mumma.

12.01.2022 So our property in town is the latest to fall victim to either a fox attack or large nasty cat. Two ducks, six chickens - including our silky mum and her five newly hatched guinea fowl babies, all found dead this morning.

12.01.2022 It's selling fast! Just over an hour in and we are down to this. Spinach, kale, beets and a little Mesclun salad mix left.... An entire table packed up already. Seems you have missed us as much as we have missed you.

11.01.2022 W E E K L Y V E G G I E B O X E S Yes, they are a thing! $20 ($30 coming soon) veggie box of mixed, seasonal, organic, locally grown vegetables from us to you the day they are picked. They can even be delivered to your door (in Mount Gambier) for free. Or you can pick them up from our place in Mount Gambier. That's right, free delivery of gorgeous, tasty food right to your door. ... We have two days available that we pick and deliver (Wednesday and Fridays) with limited places available. Why do we do this? We are passionate about giving people access to fresh, local organic food and believe that once you experience this you will be too. Learning how to eat seasonally doesn't have to be limiting or scary. We can help you with that also. Don't know what something is in your box or how to use it? Ask us. We can help. You can also get regular emails from us while you get your veg that give you ideas on what the food is, how to use it, in what ways they are good for you and a recipe using the veg you receive. If this sounds like something you'd like to try or are interested in, message us and we are more than happy to answer any questions you may have and get you started with your veggie box. These are available from this week (Friday).

08.01.2022 Come on down to the Mount Gambier Farmers Market this morning from 9am. We are back and will be selling a bunch (or many bunches) of delicious, fresh, organic veggies for you to enjoy.

08.01.2022 We are all set up ready for you to come down to the Mount Gambier Farmers Market outside the public library and buy all our yummy, fresh, organic veggies. It certainly was not fun picking it yesterday, but we are dedicated to getting this goodness to you.

06.01.2022 Isn't all that food a beautiful sight? Mesclun salad mix, spinach, baby beets, and sugar snap peas are ready!!! Can anyone guess what that means and where we will be Saturday morning between 9am and 12?... Carrots are about 3 weeks away and beans have started flowering, which means they should be ready next week. Spent today driving up near Naracoorte to get a load of wheat for the chickens and also a few bails of straw to mulch some of the veggies. Do you like Brian's homemade wheat silo? We finally have the hot house up and planted out (we have a second hot house in our backyard for seed raising). Had to chase a wedge tail eagle away from our chickens on Monday. apparently they looked like a tasty snack. eeek. Normally the goss hawks and black shouldered kites keep them away.

06.01.2022 How exciting is this!!! We thought the mumma duck was a casualty in the fox attack the other day, but no, she was just in hiding because her babies had hatched (and obviously didn't feel safe bringing them out). Babies are definitely more than a day old. This duck is the best mumma ever. ... Also, look at the pea flowers and the beets are nearly big enough to pick as baby beets. Not long now.

01.01.2022 We have had quite a lot of interest in the weekly veggie boxes, which is great. We have been getting the same question quite a lot about what veg is in the box as I think a few find it scary that they won't know what vegetables they will receive each week. (That is meant to be part of the fun... challenge). This is what I replied with to one question about what will be in a veggie box and I hope it helps explain a little more what we are doing. ... Pretty much what is in the picture on the original post except beans instead of radish, and snow peas instead of sugar snap peas. We try and keep staples like carrots, spinach (or some other leafy green that can be cooked with), Mesclun salad mix and in a few weeks cucumber, zucchini and spring onion will be added as staples. Peas are nearly finished until autumn. So things like beets, radish, cabbage, tomatoes (a little way off yet) will get rotated through the box. If you change up to a $30 box when they become available you'll get most of those things each week. Potatoes and corn come later in the season then as it starts to get colder we will add things that are good for soups like leek and parsnip and pumpkin. Part of the weekly veg box is to (try) and enjoy the challenge of eating what is in season and learning how to cook with them. We are happy to help along the way. Also, if there is something you don't like we can change it for something else (is easier to do as more things become available). We are also learning how to grow herbs on a larger scale this year so they are likely to go into boxes occasionally as an extra bonus. Hope this helps a little. Tara Our veggie patch The picture is completely irrelevant to the post, but Betty is just too cute I had to show her to you all.
