14.01.2022 Melbourne Marathon Festival. 13th October, 2019. I think it’s so wonderful seeing runners out on the streets and trails doing their thing in the Winter months. It tells me that they’re probably training for a goal, and that what they are chasing requires a level of commitment some might see as crazy, but for me has become the norm for so many Winters now. If you are thinking that this may be the year you’d like to give a Melbourne event a serious nudge, why not consider some ...help along the way? I offer Training Programs for 10km, Half and Full Marathon distances. Rather than being the generic programs we’ve all used via magazines and the web, my programs are personalised to suit your lifestyle and schedule, taking into consideration such things as: your current run fitness level, holiday or work commitments, plus your regular weekly activities. Regular feedback and correspondence is part of the package. If you’d like to chat about your MM19 goals, I would love to hear from you! Alternatively, why not try some Group Running? I offer Weekly sessions around the Rosebud area on Wednesdays at 6pm, as well as Tuesday & Thursday sessions at 6am, at Ballam Park in Frankston. These sessions really do help in keeping my runners motivated and focused, in a supportive, friendly, and positive environment. They involve Interval type training, and I generally offer a short (5-10km), medium (21.1-30km), or long (42.2km +) option. If you’re Goal focused, and are prepared to work hard to achieve a Targeted result, these sessions could be for you. Enjoy your Running! Chris.

12.01.2022 Out & About Running 101, Free Coaching for Beginners! By way of introduction, Out and About Running is the name of my coaching group, and I conduct group sessions at Rosebud, Frankston and Mornington. Well, up until a few weeks ago, anyway. My aim is to provide support for you to gradually build running fitness, whilst minimising injury and maximising enjoyment. I’ll help you discover the joy of running and introduce you to a Community of great local people.... If this interests you, Please Read On! So here’s a thought, then: I’m out running around Rosebud, and I’m seeing a lot of family groups, solo dog walkers, gym exiles, and what I’ll assume to be Beginner Runners. So, what if anyone who’s now discovering a bit of a love for exercising (in particular, running) in the Great Outdoors, might want to take the opportunity of exploring this running caper a bit more. Can’t hurt, eh? The streets are quiet, the weather is mild, a lot of us are waiting around for this whole crisis to be over, and so why not begin the journey of doing a really positive thing for yourself? To be TOTALLY up front, I’m looking for future members of my Mornington Peninsula running groups. Within these groups the focus is to run faster than we normally would, over shorter distances, in order to make adaptations in both pace and endurance. In short, to make us better runners. As many of you probably know, this is called Interval Training. However, before a beginner starts Interval Training, a solid period of Base Training should be completed and logged. This is probably the most difficult and frustrating period for a Beginner. This is where I’d like to help. So, I’m looking for an initial group of about 10 to 15 people, who would like to join me, and each other, in overcoming those difficulties and frustrations at the start of your running journey. I’m proposing a Beginner/Novice private group page in my main Out & About Running Facebook page, where together we can share the journey, and get to the point where we can one day all head out for a run together. What I’m asking: Express your interest, via inbox/messenger Be willing to Register with Out & About Running Have a go! What I’ll do: Provide an environment and catalyst in your journey to become a Runner Offer support, encouragement and advice Welcome you into this magnificent Community I do not intend to charge anyone anything, until we are back in our groups, to run our intervals, and beat our best. I look forward to hearing from you, Chris.

Details of tomorrow night's sessions can be found in the Group Page.

05.01.2022 So we've all heard about this run. If you've been thinking about it, and you're able to get to McCrae this Sunday by the somewhat civilised time of 9am, why not get on board? Entry is easy, then just turn up on the day. Should be a great morning.... Sunday, the 19th of Jan, we shall run to help raise money for Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund. In conjunction with @strava @bartlettconstructions and @mccraeyc you can either run or walk 5ks or run 21.1ks. Starting at 9am from McCrae YC, there will be a Sausage Sizzle afterwards. Should be a good morning for a desperate cause! Jump online to enter, link below. Look forward to seeing you there! Mel https://reliefrun.com.au/about-relief-run

Group Training Sessions Commencing: Wednesday 5th February @ 6am at the brand spanking NEW Mornington Athletic Track, Civic Reserve, Mornington (enter off Dunns Rd). PLEASE let me know if a 7am session would also suit, as I’m quite open to a Wednesday Double Each session will include a variety of sessions, for those wanting to train for a 5km event, up to the Marathon distance and beyond. These sessions will be Encouraging, Positive and Challenging. Cost is $5 per person, per session (with a maximum of $15 PCM). HOWEVER! I would so love to help. Let’s get the Mornington Crew happening! ALL ABILITIES WELCOME Please Share, Tag, Like, or just come along! I’ve personally come from a somewhat old school running attitude of predominately running solo. These days, with the group and social running I do, I know what I prefer! We Share the Journey. It becomes a Pleasure. Chris.

02.01.2022 Attention Mornington Peninsula Runners! Fun, supportive and challenging Group Running Sessions are happening in Rosebud and Frankston. As we do most weeks, the Rosebud Crew will meet again at Rosebud Bunnings rear carpark, ready to go for a 6pm start, this Wednesday 15th May. This group has been established for about 10 months now, and is comprised of runners of many different experience levels. Beginners will be made to feel encouraged and motivated, whilst the more experien...ced amongst the Crew will also be challenged to meet the session goals, to the best of their individual ability level. If you're wanting to train for maybe a 5km parkrun PB, a speedier 21.1, or your first (or 50th!) marathon, a variety of different sessions are available each week. For the Early Birds, I currently run morning Sessions at Ballam Park Athletic Track, Frankston, at 6am on both Tuesdays & Thursdays. I would definitely consider 7-7:15am Sessions on those days also. If anyone is interested in these type of group training sessions, but can't make it for the listed sessions, I'm happy to consider other days/times. For Shift workers, RDO's or post School drop offs, Mondays are excellent! Please enquire. Feel free to Message through any enquiries.

02.01.2022 Well it wasn't quite Field of Dreams, but doing some early warmup laps at the new Mornington Athletic Track last Wednesday, and seeing all those headlights coming in, certainly put a smile on the dial! Well done to all who took the time, made the effort, and who had a go, with Out & About's first Mornington session. The really good thing, though, is that this Wednesday, at 6am, we get to do it all again!... And remember, of course, that for February, it's all free! Let me help make those 2020 goals a reality. Thanks again, Chris.
