21.02.2022 And just like that we are done for another year. And what a day it was! The 2021 Outback MPM Annual Ram Sale saw 159/159 Rams sold for a 100% clearance, to a top of $3,500 for Lot 128 and an average of $1,794. One lucky buyer snatched up all six Lots of commercial ewes lambs for an avg of $400.... Highlight of the day was Lot 4, our charity Ram, raising $2000 for RUN DIPG. He is heading to a great new home up in the New England region. A big thank you to our valued clients, both old and new, for your support and we wish you well with your MPM rams. Thank you also to the hard working team at Nutrien Livestock, particularly Brad Wilson & Richard Thomas. Last, but certainly not least, thank you to our team here at Outback MPM - it’s a small team but it’s the dream team! 06.01.2022 LOT 4 FOR A CAUSE - RUN DIPG We are donating all proceeds from the sale of Lot 4 to RUN DIPG. RUN DIPG is a charity dedicated to improving outcomes for kids and families facing the most deadly paediatric cancer - Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma or ‘DIPG’.... Josephine Laura Dun, beloved daughter of Matt and Phoebe, and sister to George, Harriet and Henri, was diagnosed with DIPG in 2018 (aged 2). Josie’s father, Dr Matt Dun is a biomedical scientist and cancer researcher at University of Newcastle, Hunter Medical Research Institute. Upon Josie’s diagnosis, Matt and his team established a program of DIPG research in Matt’s lab. Using a specialist technique ‘phosphoproteomics’, Dr Dun attempts to understand the spectrum of proteins that control the tumour’s growth and survival, as well as looking for ways to control or impede the cancer. Sadly, Josie passed away in December 2019, 22 months post-diagnosis, forever four years old. Unfortunately, most patients do not survive nearly as long; median survival is just 9-10 months post-DIPG diagnosis. In light of this, RUN DIPG is committed to raising awareness, advocating for improved clinical outcomes and financially supporting DIPG/DMG research to reduce the suffering of DIPG patients, their families and the communities supporting those affected by this, the most devastating childhood cancer. I have known Matt since we played representative rugby in 2007-09. I am devastated for Matt and his family’s loss and hope this contribution will go some way in helping Matt and his team to continue their important research.
