25.01.2022 The creeks are flooded coming into Carnarvon Gorge - we expect this to affect Sandstone Park guests for around 1 to 2 days. 65mm overnight with a little more to come!
24.01.2022 REASON #4 - KARINGBAL & BIDJARA CULTURE This week we're sharing our top five reasons to get excited about Carnarvon Gorge. . "each and every one of y...ou visiting into this gorge is making me a proud man" - Uncle Fred . Believe it, or not, but some of Carnarvon Gorge's rock art is as old as the pyramids! . And if that's not enough, archaeologists regard the stencilling techniques found here as the most sophisticated in the world! . Now, we COULD just show you a few pictures, but where's the fun in that? It's something you simply have to experience for yourself. And when you consider that each and every motif, of which there are thousands, represents a ceremony, it truly is an experience to savour. . Present day Traditional Custodians maintain very strong ties to the Gorge's ceremonial sites. If you're lucky, you might just bump into honorary ranger and #queenslandgreat , Uncle Fred Conway (pictured) during one of his visits. Your best chance is school holidays. . . . . . #ausnatureguides #carnarvongorge #karingbal #bidjara #traditionalowner #traditionalcustodian #holidayherethisyear See more

Then, just kick back and watch dawn unfold in real time! Are you keen? Vote Yay or Nay in the poll below!
12.01.2022 Have a look at this beauty !, this is a woma snake ( Aspidites ramsayi) and was spotted this week along Adavale road, they are of the Family: Boidae (non-venomo...us snakes, including pythons and boas ) Conservation status: This species is listed as Near Threatened in Queensland (Nature Conservation Act 1992) and Endangered internationally under the World Conservation Union's (IUCN) Redlist of Threatened Species, which lists species at a global level. It is considered a high priority for conservation under the QLD department's Back on Track species prioritisation framework. This one is a superb specimen and we are fortunate to have them in the Mulgalands of south west QLD.Thanks to Brendo Edwards
12.01.2022 Good morning to all our van park family!!. Well, we have been blessed, over the last few days we have received some wonderful rainfall, up to 125 mm as of this... morning at 6 AM. The whole of SW QLD has received some great falls, which is a fantastic follow up from what we received a few weeks ago. As you can imagine, the gardens have just doubled in size and the Star Gazing garden that Petra planted less than 2 years ago is looking exceptional plus, if you look closely, you may even spot a little pumpkin in the pumpkin patch just before the rain started. To find out more about where the rain has fallen, there is a Facebook page called Who got the Rain, check it out as there is some great pictures and some very happy people. Another benefit of the rain is that we get to trial run our newly enhanced EMS (Environmental Management System) for regional weather conditions and road closures. The big TV in the bar area is now hooked up to support information and data as a live feed , sourced from all Local Councils,Main roads, BOM, SES and Disaster management authorities located throughout outback QLD. This EMS will support you in your travel planning and safety whilst visiting western QLD. Who Got the Rain Facebook page can be found at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/467657666688324/
