11.02.2022 Home to refuel and recharge before our next tour. It was great to see some 'repeat offenders' (tongue in cheek!) back on tour again this time, and to know that a few will be coming back on tour again next year! We look forward to re/making more friends in the Outback!

31.01.2022 And now Griffith. We feel we can lay claim to some of the rain: it seems to have followed us, but no one seems to be complaining! The beautiful gardens of Piccolo Family Farm , a tasting at Calabria Family Wines and the fascinating Aquna Sustainable Murray Cod.

25.01.2022 There is something about the light in the outback that makes every day something special. We had some memorable evening meals last week Lake Paika Accommodation and The Palace Hotel, Broken Hill while enjoying the evening light.

25.01.2022 We are happy to consider ourselves practically farmers under the expert tutelage of Bruce and Julie Corynnia Station. The Outback Beds motto "stay in the Outback with friends" is certainly true here.

25.01.2022 Di and Ian at Lake Paika Accommodation have done a wonderful job of creating an interesting garden haven around the homestead with lots of quirky paraphernalia everywhere you look. And then there was our wonderful lake-side dinner! Another wonderful Outback Beds location!

25.01.2022 From the majestic Bungaree Station (I've never met a shearing shed I don't love!) to the wonderful Clare valley wineries (we see you Sevenhill Cellars and Jeanneret Wines) and the grand Martindale Hall, the Clare Valley has plenty to keep us fed, watered and amazed!

25.01.2022 Enjoying the best of SA this week. So much to see and do... care to join us?

23.01.2022 You cannot go past the very beautiful Yondah Beach House and Seafire Beach House for the perfect base to explore the Yorke Peninsula. From the glorious sunrises to the amazing sunsets at your doorstep... with a postcard eclipse thrown in for good measure.

23.01.2022 Many long and winding roads and pathways found to explore at Dhilba Guuranda-Innes National Park

21.01.2022 A lot of farming history to be enjoyed around Carathool and Hay. Always worth stopping for a look.

20.01.2022 Thank you David and Geoffrey of Depot Springs Station for helping with a shredded tyre episode coming back from Arkaroola last week and entertaining our group of travellers. You can expect a thank you 6 pack when we're passing through again in 2 weeks

19.01.2022 Burraburoon Farmstay 's picture perfect waterfront location and great hospitality make for another wonderful visit. Its amazing what you find touring the outback with friends! (Outback Beds )

18.01.2022 Great to be back on the road and enjoying the wonderful Yorke Peninsula

17.01.2022 Getting our merch on!

16.01.2022 Well that could have been tricky (in a non-Halloween way)! Doesn't take much rain to require a change of plans. Thanks for the help Barb! (Bindara On The Darling) Back to Lake Paika Accommodation and another glorious sunset.

16.01.2022 Looking forward to next week's tour.....

15.01.2022 We thoroughly enjoyed the production tour at Sunny Hill Distillery. Emergency hip flask now in place!

14.01.2022 Our next Outback Beds stop last week was Burraburoon Farmstay between Hay and Balranald. Great food and company made Burraburoon an excellent experience (and we loved the sentinel emu flock)

14.01.2022 Looking forward to visiting Mungo this week https://www.facebook.com/679713548709828/posts/3793691020645383/

12.01.2022 "We're on the road to nowhere..." who's with us?!

11.01.2022 More pics from our stay at the award winning Redwing Farm. We loved the 1850’s stone cottage, the spacious converted barn and shearers quarters. Redwing Farm was was named after a ship which sunk off the coast of the Yorke Peninsula. Nearby is good diving for Blue Swimmer crabs at Port Hughes or abalone and scallops at The Gap. We'll be back!

10.01.2022 Sitting in rainy Adelaide re-visiting our recent fact-finding tour of the Yorke Peninsula: (sigh, lighthouse dreaming in the fabulous Innes-Nationalpark)....Innes National Park is definitely one for your bucket list. At the foot of SA's Yorke Peninsula: rugged coastline, secluded beaches, shipwrecks and a walking and biking trail that follows the coast for the entire peninsula. Come with us and take a look: amazing!

09.01.2022 There is wonderful history everywhere you turn in Outback NSW. In September 1940, 2542 ‘enemy aliens’ from Britain disembarked HMT Dunera in Melbourne and Sydney. Most were Jewish refugees who had fled Nazi persecution in Germany and Austria. They were interned in camps near Hay and Orange in NSW and Tatura in Victoria. The ‘Dunera Boys’, as they became known, included musicians, artists, philosophers, scientists and writers. Following their release in 1941 many chose to remain in Australia, making a significant contribution to the nation’s economic, social and cultural life.Their arrival in Australia after a 57-day journey in appalling conditions was seen as the greatest injection of talent to enter Australia on a single vessel. Hay, NSW

09.01.2022 We dont like to brag (who are we kidding: yes we do!) but we cooked a mighty fine murray cod fresh from the Aquna Sustainable Murray Cod farm last week. Delicious and wonderful to see how they are helping preserve and sustainably farm these iconic native fish.

07.01.2022 Ready to hit the frog and road? We are too! Where will we go?

07.01.2022 Thoroughly enjoying scouting for a new diving tour to Yorke Peninsula. Shout out to the fun biologists who named the delightful pyjama squid, dumpling squid and nudibranchs! My favourite Exterior Design Award goes to the Leafy Sea Dragon. The bottom part of the Yorke is called the Ship Wreck Passage, so we will be diving off jetties in search of sea wrecks such as the Willyama.

07.01.2022 Peter and Rosa Piccolo of Piccolo Family Farm made us feel very welcome again last week as they showed us through their orchard, vines and gardens. A lovely lunch (and a great coffee from Peter's 'mobile' machine!), not to mention a delicious breakfast for the train. The type of hospitality you can expect in #outbacknsw.

06.01.2022 What's not to enjoy about wine tasting with this view? Yarran Wines have a lovely relaxed cellar door but really know their stuff. And cheese board? Yes please! #outbacknsw

03.01.2022 A lot of farming history to be enjoyed around Carathool and Hay. Always worth stopping for a look.

02.01.2022 What will the day have in store for you? We are getting ready to do some touring: yippee!

02.01.2022 Last week's road trip took us to South Australia's Yorke peninsula scouting some accommodation options for our new diving tour. Everything from stone houses to spacious barns and cute refurbed caravans (check out Little Patty the caravan!). Redwing Farm

01.01.2022 Our investigator trip to the Yorke Peninsula included finding perfect side trips for when we are not diving. First on the list was a visit to Olivia at Sunny Hill Distillery. Sunny Hill distill gin, vodka, whiskey and rum (not to mention hand sanitiser!) using the grains they grow right on the premises. The view from their large sundowner deck takes in the entire farm. Then it was off to Watsacowie Brewing Co at Minlaton (the Yorke Peninsula is the home of Australia’s barley industry after all). Now to find someone to cook the abalone and scallops that we plan to collect diving!

01.01.2022 Well that was fun! Last week we loaded up the van and hit the road with our trailer kitchen. First stop historic: Bindara On The Darling. The guided walk along the river by our host, Barb was a hit, passing Aboriginal canoe trees and other trees hanging on to the river bank. Afterwards, hanging around the camp fire and camp kitchen while someone else did the cooking: Perfect! (Another great Outback Beds experience!)
