22.01.2022 3d printer assembled yesterday, tried a couple of tests, no good. Couple of adjustments this morning and testing on 'benchy' looks ok so far
22.01.2022 My auxiliary battery died a while ago and I've been procrastinating about whether to stay with the cheaper, heavier and not as much useable power of an AGM or lash out for a lifePO4 lithium. Decided to lash out and get a Solarking 100ah Lithium, now to clean up some wiring while I'm at it.
21.01.2022 Inserts, outserts/collars and a bloody mechanical Always thinking how i can improve or design something that i can make here in Australia. All are projects i have in mind to do here at some stage, as well carbon shafts, which are still in the works, waiting on tooling to get some prototypes made.
21.01.2022 Saw these on a forum and thought i'd post it up here. Kmart have these campmaster butane stoves for $49 at the moment. Here's a few pics compared to my Jetboil Flash.... It's a bit bigger and seems to be ok, time will tell. The cup that comes with it won't fit inside with the gas bottle and burner though. They also have the 230 gram butane canisters for $4, very cheap. Update, did a boil comparison with 750ml Campmaster for the win 4:15sec Jetboil - 7:15
20.01.2022 Benchy completed.
20.01.2022 3D Printers, who's got a suggestion for a good quality but not too expensive one? Looking at the Prusa i3 Mk3s or the Artillery Sidewinder X1 V4 Will mainly do prototype stuff, storage tubs for drills and mills etc.... Maybe even quiver mods or rest mods. Would like to be able to do multi colour at some stage, so can use a Pallette 2 Pro for either or the Prusa MMU if i go that way. Better off buying here or direct? Clones also get some good reviews, probably from the same place anyhow. Suggestions?
17.01.2022 Good to see people out and about, having success, great looking country there too #Repost @adam_mills_archery @download.ins --- First hunt with a fresh set of arrows and broadheads. 17.01.2022 The old man got a laser engraver for his work, thought i'd try a blade in there. Might 3D print a jig up to hold a dozen or so and see if it's worth it. I may mark the collars on my arrows when they are in production, or i could engrave them on the lathe to save handling them again.... The prototypes are very very close to arriving.
16.01.2022 Stealth getting the job done in the USA.
15.01.2022 MERINO PRE-SALE!!!! 250GSM and 180GSM (Grams Square Metre) Righto guys and gals, ... This is the only way I'm going to be able to do this 100% Aussie Made, grown, dyed and manufactured Merino Clothing. Got a few other things going on too, Aussie Made carbon arrows for one. I need to get a minimum order to go ahead with it, for each colour AND weight. Due to them having to make the colours especially for me. Time frame is 6 weeks (just after christmas if i get enough orders quickly) I need about 60 orders for each to get it up and going. Colours are Olive Green and a Cinnamon brown at the moment, plus black and white, which I don't need a minimum order for. Camo is an option in the future, but then there is either designing one or licensing a pattern. There will be the Outback Broadhead logo in orange on the chest too, nothing too obvious. I've attached a pic with the colours, compared to some First Lite ASAT camo. I have also attached the size charts for men and women. In my experience, go one smaller if you are borderline. I have set up a separate email address for paypal and a separate paypal account so all the money is kept apart from my day to day business account. I couldn't set up a pre sale account through paypal as they require all the goods to be delivered within 20 days, these are 6 weeks, so didn't meet their requirements. When you order, in the notes please put all your colours and sizes, plus whether 180GSM or 250GSM along with your name and delivery details. If i am short on a certain colour or weight i will let everyone know and see if you are willing to change. If the numbers aren't met, i will refund everyones money 100%. I'll take a bit of a hit with fees but it is what it is. Paypal address is - [email protected] PRICING Unisex Short Sleeve Crew Neck $75 Unisex Long Sleeve Crew Neck $85 Unisex Long Sleeve Zip Front $90 Unisex Long John Pants $75 Postage will be $9 flat rate for all orders. Appreciate it guys and gals, lets keep some manufacturing here in Australia, we have the resources, the skills and can certainly keep the prices competitive with overseas made gear. Any queries, questions or something i've missed, send me a message or an email. Cheers Luke PS - Share it around please, that'll help get the numbers up faster and in turn you'll get them quicker too.
14.01.2022 3d printed an adapter for my quad lock charger to a ram ball for in the truck. They don't make one so had improvise, pretty cool little machines. Also did some knobs with a press fit nut for mounting some recovery boards plus aheap of other little things.
14.01.2022 Playing with fusion 360, the back end of a ferrule done for practice, which i can use for all the different models. This one, with a couple of holes would almost be heavy enough for a 200gb SGB
13.01.2022 Drew up some plans to get a couple of poly fuel tanks made for the Oka too. Standard tanks are 110L each, these are about 190L each, plus i ha e room for another where the spare used to be, already got 240L of water on board in a S/S tank under the tray, plenty for extended stays somewhere. Printed a latch for the Travel Buddy oven door too, save having food fall out when i open the canopy door.
13.01.2022 Heat treating some Supreme blades. Each rack holds 250 blades, I'll do 2500 blades today and possibly another 2500 tomorrow, then a day of tempering and send them off to be black oxide coated. #aussiemanufactured #aussiemadeandowned
11.01.2022 1 or 2 bunnies enjoying the grass out the back of the workshop
11.01.2022 Finally got a few 200gn Compass heads made up. They are on the website now.
10.01.2022 I like new toy days. Picked up a new Stoeger M3000 straight pull, 20" barrel. Decided i needed a shotgun after catching the tailend of a fox drive with @matti_webb @bjornmair and @alexo447, actually shot one on the first go too.... Also got a new folder for EDC, I'm pretty hard on them so didn't want to fork out a heap, not sure if the real deal or a copy of a Hoback Warhorse, but feel bloody good. Usually not a fan of tanto tips on knives, but don't mind this one.
07.01.2022 Finally, new slitting saws arrived, only a month late. These are what will put the slit in the ferrules for the blades. 20mm o/d, 0.5mm, 1.0mm and 1.2mmthick, 2 different tooth counts, for aluminium and for mild steel and stainless.... Solid carbide and cost as much as the 3d printer i want. Now to send them down so the lathe can finally be programmed and i can go and pick it up.
06.01.2022 Bench failed when the roof was about to start, bad first layer. Another slight adjustment, bottle opener worked and another benchy happening.
06.01.2022 53rc bang on target. Now to do the next lot so they can be sent off on Monday for black oxide.
05.01.2022 Got a few issues in the store with orders for NZ, i probably stuffed something up adding Express post a few weeks ago, my numpty IT skills strike again. Got the master IT guy Andrew Maughan onto it, should be right a bit later today. Sorry for the hassle guys, appreciate your patience.
05.01.2022 Little buggers know where to be to stay safe, with the highway in the firing line. Luckily there's a better angle, from out a window, lol. Counted 39 out the window the other day, got 5 with CZ 457 before they got too spooky. Plenty more to go, the damage is starting to really show, might need to park the Oka somewhere to get a better angle for those others.
04.01.2022 I was looking forward to the warmer weather. Last saturday it was t-shirt weather, now it the temp is 'feels like' negative 5 celcius.
04.01.2022 100% Aussie made merino thermals in Brown amd Olive Drab, who would be interested? Seeing as the only other comparible gear is all made in Asia, Moroka30 being the exception, this would be a great alternative. The pics show the colours compared to First Lite dark earth and the ASAT they used to do.... It would be 240GSM double knit interlock fabric. Merino wool grown here, knitted here, dyed here and the garments made here. 100% Aussie Made! There will also be my logo on the chest in orange. I would be able to do the following, with approx pricing. Short sleeve crew neck $75 Long sleeve crew neck $85 Long sleeve 3/4 zip $90 Long johns $75 There would be a few details needed from you guys for preferences, such as either a cuff on the sleeves or thumbholes, personlly i would prefer cuffs, without them, sleeves tend to fall down when you don't want them to, like gutting or dressing an animal. The tops can be used as an outer layer when warm enough, camo isn't really needed, i've hardly worn it for years. I'm waiting on a response about camo if the demand is there though, but that comes with a lot more issues about patterns etc. If i can get enough interest, i will probably do a pre sale, as i have a minimum order requirement etc. Let me know and please share it so i can gauge whether it is something to forge ahead with. PS - still got Aussie Made arrow shafts in the pipeline, should have prototypes very soon. Thanks guys and gals Luke
01.01.2022 How good is this for service from Black Oxide Metal Finishers in Melbourne. Sent my blades Monday afternoon, he got them Tuesday morning, all blades done and sent back that afternoon, got them back this morning. Awesome service like that is appreciated, wish i had done it from the day i bought Outback Broadheads.
