18.01.2022 Biodiversity action #5 as part of Biodiversity Month, September..... Only put water down the drains. Things like oils and chemicals may start at the kitchen sink but end up in our waterways and seas and can affect animals and plants living in streams and rivers. Instead of using commercial cleaning chemicals try using white vinegar and bicarbonate of soda. https://www.sercul.org.au/our-pro/clean-drains-river-gains/

10.01.2022 Action#11, choose a mascot animal to get behind and help from becoming extinct. At OSB we love the Mountain Pygmy Possum, it's the emblem of our school. Help us keep this animal from becoming extinct from the wild. https://www.zoo.org.au/possums/

08.01.2022 Biodiversity action #7... When you’re sailing, don’t get too close to whales and dolphins. Worldwide, whales, dolphins and porpoises face many threats, from being directly hunted to being caught in fishing nets. Ship strike, pollution, climate change, ocean noise, tourism, discarded fishing gear or other rubbish may also affect the population. They can also be loved to death by overenthusiastic whale watchers. http://www.environment.gov.au//species/cetaceans/index.html

07.01.2022 There's an old saying "think global, act local" that is great but it's old and was coined before the massive connectivity the internet and global travel has brought us. It's now possible, says JP, to "LEARN GLOBAL, ACT GLOBAL", with our actions and behaviours. For more resources.... https://www.zoo.org.au/fighting-extinction/global-programs/

05.01.2022 Do you want to see more done for Biodiversity in Victoria or Australia. Get involved and find your voice or written word and communicate with your local members for parliament. - Remember to always be well researched and respectful in your language. - Offer solutions not just problems. - How can you help?... Here is an example of a letter.... there are lots available on the internet, be sure to read up and use a parent or guardian as your editor to help keep the language polite, respectful and on point. https://natureecoevocommunity.nature.com//49181-write-to-y
