10.01.2022 Following our very friendly Legless Lizard encounter on the recent hike we have been asked a lot what sort of snake it is. So if anyone is interested in the differences here is a guide ... admittedly they can still be tricky to tell the difference without getting close and it’s always best to admire from a safe distance. - Pru https://www.mentalfloss.com//5-slithering-differences-betw

09.01.2022 It’s amazing how much you can learn in such a short period of time. However, it’s not like riding a bike, these skills need to be practiced in order to keep them fresh and useful.

03.01.2022 This mornings devastating drowning at one of our local beaches in Coolum was a stark reminder about Surf Safety. I did some looking and though I would share this - great to show kids too, especially leading into summer. Be safe all - Pru https://beachsafe.org.au/surf-safety

03.01.2022 Our ancestors climbed trees for a number of reasons: To catch possums, lizards, snakes and other native animals. (These animals were also r...emoved from trees by lighting a fire below and smoking them out. Our ancestors collect eggs and young birds from nests, collected fruit and seeds from high branches. Our ancestor elders were that clever they also collected native beehives for honey and wax. Beeswax was used as a seal on water containers, as a resin when making weapons, and as a fixative when making body decorations. They also chopped and stripped long sheets of bark to be used for canoe-making and shelters. Throughout much of Australia, a Bulieng (Stone axe )with a stone was used to cut toe holds into trees to assist in climbing. Tree climbing technique demonstrated, Queensland, 1897.
