22.01.2022 CARAVAN SOLAR UPGRADE Even though it the weather was rubbish we still managed to get this sweet little upgrade done. Clients van had installed twin 120ah AGM batteries and just needed some solar to help them get offgrid... We installed 300W of panels and an Enerdrive Pty Ltd DCDC+. Also adding an additional Anderson for an external panel if the van is parked in the shade. As well as connecting in their little inverter in to run their 240v while off grid also. As we are licenced electrical contractors we can install inveters correctly and safely and provide legislative safety certificates once complete. 19.01.2022 Inverters are a great addition to a new or existing installation. This Enerdrive Pty Ltd inverter is being installed into an existing system with a 50A DCDC charger and a 120AH lithium battery. Its main use will be for an induction cooker whilst off grid or on the beach cooking up that freshly caught fish!!

09.01.2022 Old Mate Backyard Electrical We had a call from a customer that had recently purchased a van. The previous owner had undertaken some of their own modifications and fortunately the new owner has had enough exposure/understanding of what is or is not right when it comes to electrical work to know that something was not right with their new van. Upon initial inspection it was noted that there was some electrical work done that was quite dodgy. BUT the more it was opened up,... the worse it got. The previous owner must have thought they were very clever adding an inverter in and wiring so that all of the PowerPoints were live and even adding a switch to switch between inverter and mains. The problem is the neutral was connected together on both inverter and mains supply meaning there is a possibility of livening up the neutral in the van from either source. What was worse was that the earth had not even been connected on the 'new' cabling that they ran to the non compliant single pole switch. In addition there was a number of other compliance issues with the installation. Too many to list really. This installation had the potential to electrocute someone and I am actually quite surprised that nothing had gone wrong. Moral of the story is if you are considering doing your own electrical work because you think you know what you are doing.... DONT. You are 100% putting yourself and your family in danger of electrocution. In addition to this it is against the law to undertake unlicensed electrical work and if your work is the cause of an electrocution you could end up in Jail. Needless to say, this is possibly the worst and most dangerous electrical work I have ever seen.

06.01.2022 Dual Battery system for your 4wd? There are a number of great options available for all makes and models. Including under bonnet as well as rear of vehicle mounted systems. As well as options on battery chemistry with either AGM or Lithium. This system was put into a customers 200 Series Landcruiser as an under bonnet option. With a REDARC Electronics BCDC1225D and vehicle model specific bracket. Installed with a Century Yuasa Ultra Performace 810CCA cranking battery and a Ce...ntury Yuasa Dual Force 90AH AGM to replace the dual cranking batteries. 03.01.2022 Van Tidy Up and Wiring Rectification We had a call from a customer who had picked up a new van and the previous owner had done some 'Modifications'. We found the previous owner had installed the solar reg incorrectly and connected the panels into the load and visa versa. Not really sure how this was ever going to work. ... The battery was in need of replacement and we added a 240V charger as there was not one installed. While we were at it we removed the inverter, and tidied up the 12v wiring. Get in touch

Meaning that we are Licensed, Qualified and Registered to carry out installations, repairs and maintenance on both the 12V side of your toy as well as the 240V side. As most custom electrical installations to Caravans and 4wd incorporate some sort of inverter, it is ultimately the installers responsibility to ensure that the equipment has been installed in accordance with the relevant Australian Standards. The only possible way that is achieved is if the installer has an MRB registration as well as an EC.
