24.01.2022 Freedom of information documents unearthed by the Wilderness Society have revealed that the iconic Swift Parrot is in real trouble logging and invasive predat...ors are destroying its summer breeding ground in Tasmanias forests. Last year, the Tasmanian Government quietly changed its rules to allow the parrots breeding habitat to be destroyed by logging and withdrew from the Recovery Team the national multi-agency expert group tasked with saving the species. "They dont want to be involved in the Recovery Team, principally because Forestry Tasmania operations are causing substantial damage to Swift Parrot habitat," said Wilderness Society campaigner Warrick Jordan. But Sussan Ley says anybody considering it should "proceed with caution".... "It has to be tested, trialled, to be proven safe," she told reporters in Geelong on Wednesday.
