25.01.2022 JUNIOR TENNIS We’ve taken names for junior tennis this season, approximately 15 so far. But we need someone, or a few people to run it. We had a successful AGM last night but unfortunately there was no one present with kids who are playing juniors. So if anyone is keen to either take on the role of running juniors, either on their own, or preferably as a sub committee with a few others please let me know so we can get junior tennis up and running.

25.01.2022 Tonight’s scores Prince 11 sets 85 games def Wilson 4 sets 64 games Babolat 11 sets 81 games def Head 4 sets 48 games

25.01.2022 Round 7 Friday night saw round 7 matches completed between 4 teams who were yet to play each other this season as their round 2 matches were washed out. Babolat v Head Babolat who were soundly beaten last week were keen to bounce back with a win, while Head had the same intention after also losing last week. The Babolat men had a good night winning the men’s section by 14 games, while the Ladies section was also 1 sided in Babolats favour with a 13 game win. This therefore... gave them a 27 game lead going into the mixed/extra doubles. The last section was a little closer with Babolat winning there by 6 games. Three set winners were Dylan Davis, Luke Summerhayes, Isaac Scott and Ellen Morrish all playing for Babolat. Scores Babolat 11 sets 81 games def Head 4 sets 48 games. Wilson v Prince Prince are proving to be the team to beat sitting nicely on top of the ladder undefeated with a healthy percentage. Friday night it was Wilson’s turn to have a crack against them for the first time this season. The men’s section turned out to be a reasonable battle with Prince coming out in front there by 11 games. The ladies section was incredibly close with all 4 matches there being tie breakers. Prince just came out in front there by 2 games which gave them a 13 game lead heading into the mixed/extra doubles. Prince were able to increase that lead by a further 8 games in the last section of the night, giving them a 21 game win over all. Three sets winners were Esther Manly (all tie breakers) Laura Hayter and Joel Grace all playing for Prince. Scores Prince 11 sets 85 games def Wilson 4 sets 64 games. Ladder. Pts. % Prince. 20. 147.5 Babolat. 14. 100.6 Head. 12. 89.4 Slazenger. 6. 90.1 Wilson. 4 79.0 Round 8 This Friday night sees Babolat who had a good win in round 7 take on Wilson who are yet to notch up their first win. While Slazenger come back from the bye will be looking to inflict Princes first loss for the season.

23.01.2022 Round 10 A perfect night for tennis greeted us for the second last round of home and away before finals. Going into this round of matches it looked like 2 interesting matches would take place with the 2nd placed Head playing 3rd placed Wilson, while 4th placed Babolat played 5th placed Slazenger. Head v Wilson This looked like it’d be a good match between two teams close on the ladder, and with Head still a chance to get to top spot. But unfortunately it was all one way ...traffic in Wilsons favour. The Wilson men and ladies both won their sections by 21 and 20 games respectively, while the mixed/extra doubles was a much more evenly fought out contest ending in a draw at 26 games each, but the damage was done with Wilson winning overall by 41 games. Three set winners were Brad Parsons, Joel Monaghan, Trent Crook, Dom Leach, Joel Grace, Esther Manly and Lilly Cattanach. Scores Wilson 12 sets 86 games def Head 3 sets 45 games. Babolat v Slazenger This was an important match for Babolat in them trying to get away from 4th place, while for Slazenger it was a match where just pride was at stake with the wooden spoon firmly theirs. All sections were close with Babolat winning the mens by 1 game, and Slazenger winning the ladies by 5 games, and a tie of 24 games each in the mixed/extra doubles. So this gave Slazenger their second win for the season, and anchors Babolat into 4th place. Babolat could rue the fact that their winning sets weren’t more convincing with 3 of them being tie breakers as well as a 7/5 among them. The set count was 9-6 in Babolats favour. Three set winners were Samuel Mead and Fel Cua for Babolat and Bec Vallance for Slazenger. Scores Slazenger 6 sets 75 games def Babolat 9 sets 71 games. Ladder. Pts. % Prince. 20. 124.2 Wilson. 16. 108.3 Head. 16. 91.4 Babolat. 12. 98.6 Slazenger 8. 83.3 Round 11 So this brings us to the last round of the season before finals, and it’s actually the round 3 matches that was washed out earlier on the season. Prince will play Head and Wilson play Slazenger In Slazengers last match for the season. With Prince now unable to lose top spot and Babolat position of 4th not going to change as they have the bye this week, the semi finals are also set. They will be Prince v Babolat and Wilson v Head. Don’t forget the week after the grand final (March 2) will be club championships night. We are aiming to have a 14 and under, 18 and under as well as senior mens and ladies competitions. Then of course it’s tournament weekend after that. So still plenty of tennis to be played this summer. Happy hitting.

23.01.2022 A fantastic final day to rap up a great weekend. The winners and runners up photos from today.

23.01.2022 Covid Restrictions!!! Please be aware these are the current Covid restrictions in place for us to play community based competition tennis. *The clubhouse will be closed. No one is allowed to congregate in the clubhouse. Please stay out unless going to the Toilet. Drinks and bar sales will be available from outside. There will be no meals. *No sharing of equipment. If you have more than one racquet than it’s a good idea to bring both in case you break a string. *Masks shoul...d be worn at all time, except when exercising excessively (which includes playing tennis) or eating and drinking. *No spectators, it’s players only at the tennis under current restrictions. Sorry to anyone who likes to come up and watch. *Social distance rules must be adhered too!! Keep your distance of 1.5 mts from each other. *Also in the interest of keeping everyone seperate we ask that if your match is being played on the North courts please only rest between your matches on the North side of the clubhouse, and if your match is on the South courts please only rest on the South side of the clubhouse. We want to get things started by 6.30 at the latest, and when you’ve finished your matches it’s time to leave. The basic rule is come play, then leave. There will be no bar sales when the last match is finished, and the lights will be turned off not long after. Hopefully restrictions will ease soon so we can get our social aspect of the club going again, but right now these are the rules we have to follow. Remember it’s a privilege to be able to play tennis, there are many sports which cannot be played (in fact no sports in Melbourne) so please don’t abuse our privilege!! See more

23.01.2022 A fantastic rap of the tournament. Very well captured by Barry Gregg.

22.01.2022 Round 5 It was back to our normal Friday night schedule with 2 interesting matches being played for round 5 matches. Babolat v Slazenger Babolat went into this match with one win on the board, while Slazenger were looking for their first win of the season. The Slazenger men got their team off into a good position with a slight 4 game win in their section. While in the Ladies section it was Babolat who were to good for Slazenger to the tune of 8 games. So this gave Babolat a... narrow 4 game lead going into the mixed/extra doubles. Babolat came home to strong in the last section of the night winning that by 9 games, and therefore giving them a 13 game win overall. Three set winners for Babolat were Samuel Mead and Jade Eames, while Jai Grayling won his 3 sets for Slazenger. Scores Babolat 9 sets 76 games def Slazenger 6 sets 63 games. Head v Wilson This turned out to be another reasonably close game. The Head men got their team away to a good start on the scoresheet with a 6 game win their, while the Ladies had a close battle with Head just coming out in front with a one game win in their section. So this made the difference just 7 games heading into the mixed/extra doubles. The mixed/extra doubles turned out to be another close battle with Head winning there by just 2 games and therefore giving them a 9 game win overall. Three set winners for Head were Ryan Vallance and Imogen Hastings, while Ash Morrish was a 3 set winner for Wilson. Scores Head 8 sets 71 games def Wilson 7 sets 62 games. Ladder. Pts. % Prince. 12. 152.4 Head. 12. 112.3 Babolat. 8. 99.5 Wilson. 4. 81.0 Slazenger. 2. 81.4 Round 6 With the ladder starting to take shape, some teams will be looking this week to strengthen their position on the ladder, while others will be looking to get their seasons first win on the board. Prince will play Babolat in an interesting game between first and third, while second placed Head will be eyeing off top spot with a win against Slazenger who are yet to notch up their first win. Wilson have the bye.

22.01.2022 Here are the teams for 2020/2021! Wilson have the bye in Round 1, and remember there won’t be any dinners due to the clubhouse being closed. All players should arrive at 6 pm so we can be on the courts playing by 6.30 pm. Memberships are due now, and can be paid by cash, cheque or credit card!... Please make sure membership is paid by the third week. 21.01.2022 Tonight’s scores Slazenger 9 sets 80 games def Head 6 sets 68 games Prince 12 sets 84 games def Babolat 3 sets 44 games

21.01.2022 Round 6 Friday night saw us reach the one third point of the season with teams playing each other for the second time after meeting in round 1. Head v Slazenger Head got the win in round 1 between these 2 sides by just 6 games, and with 2 even teams on paper this match looked like it might be another close one. The Head men had a close 6 game win in their section, while in ladies section Slazenger had strong 11 game win and giving them the upper hand by 5 games heading... into the mixed/extra doubles. The final section of the night was a close one with Slazenger winning there by 4 games and giving them their first win for the season. Three set winners were Ash Morrish, Kate Stone, Jai Grayling and Evan Comrie all playing for Slazenger, while Deane Munro was a 3 set winner for Head. Scores Slazenger 9 sets 77 games def Head 6 sets 68 games. Babolat v Prince It was a one sided game when these 2 sides met in round 1 with Prince being comfortable winners, and unfortunately for Babolat playing with a few fill ins, this time around turned out to be the same. The Prince men had a good night winning their section by 13 games, while the ladies saw Prince win there by 12 games and giving them a commanding 25 game lead heading into the mixed/extra doubles. The mixed/extra doubles was close with Prince winning there by 4 games and giving them them a 29 game win overall. Three set winners were Ben Mole, Nick Vine, Laura Hayter, Raelene Vine and Mia Hulland all playing for Prince. Scores Prince 12 sets 84 games def Babolat 3 sets 54 games. Ladder. Pts. % Prince. 16. 159.5 Head. 12. 101.5 Babolat. 10. 89.6 Slazenger 6 90.1 Wilson. 4. 81.0 Round 7 This Friday night sees Babolat take on Head while Wilson will play Prince. Slazenger has the bye.

21.01.2022 And the winners are Head. Head 8 sets 72 games def Slazenger 7 sets 63 games

21.01.2022 We are very happy and excited to announce that we have a new junior Coordinator. Bec Vallance has put her hand up to take on the role with much enthusiasm. She is looking forward to getting things started with a very exciting season for the juniors. So let’s get behind her.

21.01.2022 Barbecue For tea this Friday night. No need for salads as we have enough left over from the tournament. Duty team is everyone. Anyone can pitch in and help out with the barby or in the kitchen this week... regular spectators too.

20.01.2022 Attention!!!! All tennis for this afternoon and tonight is cancelled!! Due to forecast thunderstorms and rain, and our lack of shelter. Sorry to all.... If children will now be taking the bus home, that would have been previously staying in town. Can you please contact the school to let them know. Hopefully next week we will have sunny skies again!

19.01.2022 Tennis practice hit this week will be Tuesday afternoon from 5.30pm All welcome!!Tennis practice hit this week will be Tuesday afternoon from 5.30pm All welcome!!

19.01.2022 Great news today from the State government. As of midnight tomorrow night (Wed 16th) non contact sport will be allowed for all. There are now 3 courts lined and ready to go for anyone who is keen for a hit from then on.

18.01.2022 Semi finals An extremely strong south wind made playing tennis on Friday night at a good standard extremely difficult for our semi finals. Top team Head went in as hot favourites against fourth placed Wilson, while 2nd and 3rd place Slazenger and Prince were set for a good contest. Slazenger v Prince Slazenger went into this match as favourites after some good wins towards the end of the season, but Prince came out and gave it a red hot go. Prince won the men’s section by 7 ...games, but then the Slazenger Ladies got their team back in front by winning their section by 10 games. So this gave them a 3 game lead heading into the mixed/extra doubles. The last section of the night proved to be close all the way through with the overall margin being just 1 game when the last set went out to play. Fortunately Bec Vallance and Darren Latta were able to get the job done there with a 6/2 win giving Slazenger a 5 game win and a grand final berth. Three set winners were Bec Vallance and Chloe Latta of Slazenger and Scott Brady and Tim Vine playing for Prince. Scores Slazenger 9 sets 74 games def Prince 6 sets 69 games. Head v Wilson Going into this match Wilson had a tough job ahead of them to knock over the top team. The Head men got their team away to a good start with a 7 game win in their section. The match was pretty much put beyond doubt in the women’s section with the Head Ladies winning their by 17 games. The mixed/extra doubles was a lot closer with Head winning by just 4 games, this gave Head a strong 28 game win. Three set winners were Deane Munro, Ben Mole, Nic Monaghan, Lyndal Munro and Esther Manly from Head, while Jay Curnow won his 3 sets for Wilson. Scores Head 11 sets 84 games def Wilson 4 sets 56 games. Grand final So this sets up a grand final between clearly the best 2 teams this season, Head will go in as warm favourites but Slazenger will go in with a lot of good wins behind them particularly since the Christmas break. The two teams have only met twice with one match being called off due to Heat, Head came out winners in both those previous encounters. We thank Wilson and Prince players for their season and hopefully you all enjoyed your summer of tennis. See more

17.01.2022 For anyone wondering what restrictions have changed regarding us and tennis, basically not much. We’re still unable to open the clubhouse except for toilet use and bar service. Spectators are still not allowed, unless supervising. Sharing of equipment is still not allowed.

17.01.2022 Just a reminder for junior tennis tonight. The clubhouse will be closed, except for the use of toilets, or first aid. The bar will be closed, so please either have a snack prior to tennis or bring a snack, and also drinks and a hat as per normal. Also a reminder spectators are not encouraged to be there, but on court supervision is allowed (and strongly encouraged, give Bec a hand). So please parents stick around and jump on the courts with the kids and help where you can.

16.01.2022 Tennis this Friday night. No doubt we’ve all seen the forecast, it’s a hot Friday coming up. Currently the plan is to push the start time for the senior comp back to 7pm. Juniors will be cancelled. Once the sun goes down on this sort of temperature it’s generally not to bad. The clubhouse is now open, and air conditioners have just been serviced (thanks too Ouyen Plumbing). So the club room will be cool. Spectators are also now welcome too (if anyone wants to venture out for a look). Of course all current COVID restrictions are still in place. With the start time being pushed back it’s important to keep the night moving along. If you see empty courts don’t anyone be shy about checking the sheets and seeing who can go on. It’s everyone’s job to keep matches going out on court so we’re not finishing to late.

15.01.2022 Ok we are starting to take names for the seniors and juniors for the upcoming season. We will hopefully kick things off for seniors on the 9th of October, this is depending on Covid restrictions and committee approval at the AGM. We are planning for a 15 week season plus finals culminating in March. Please comment below, or message me (Paul Dean) or text me 0400 941 404 to get your name in. Please remember if you are planning on playing in any of our comps, or use the courts regularly (e.g more than 3 times) it is imperative that you pay membership. Playing on Lawn courts is a privilege, and an expensive privilege. Freshly mowed, lined and green tennis courts don’t come cheap and all regular players need to contribute to this cost. If you feel it will be financially hard, we can work out a payment plan to help.

15.01.2022 Another great night of tennis to finish the year off. Well done everyone. Scores Slazenger 8 sets 73 games def Babolat 7 sets 69 games. Head 13 sets 92 games def Wilson 2 sets 68 games

15.01.2022 Who’s keen for a Friday night hit?? This Friday the 15th. A few of us are keen to hit the courts. There’s some chooks in the freezer that need to be won by someone. So we’re having a round robin doubles competition. ... Open to anyone, just need to turn up. We will draw for partners. Starting from 6pm!! If anyone is running a bit late comment below or shoot us a message and we will put you in. See more

15.01.2022 Don’t forget today’s chook challenge!! Be there at 11 to be in it. Open to anyone who is keen for a hit!!!Don’t forget today’s chook challenge!! Be there at 11 to be in it. Open to anyone who is keen for a hit!!!

14.01.2022 Okay, with tennis being washed out tonight a couple of us have come up with an idea for anyone who is keen for a Sunday hit. This Sunday 11am. Round robin doubles. $5 entry. Winners will win a chook each. ... Whether we have men’s and Ladies doubles or just one combined comp will depend on numbers. It’ll be a draw for partners. (So don’t organise yourself a partner) Basically whoever is there at 11am will be in. There will also be a junior competition, so juniors if your keen get a long. See more

13.01.2022 Just a reminder about the working bee on Sunday. Kicking off from 9.00 am. Hope to see a few there.

12.01.2022 Hi all. Just updating everyone with where we are (as much as we know) regarding a tennis comp this year. The state’s government plan released on Sunday didn’t really give us much as far as when it will be allowed to start tennis. However we will be ready to swing into action when we get the green light. First thing we need to do is have an AGM. This is planned to happen via Zoom on Wednesday September 30 at 7.30 pm. All will be welcome to it, we will post the link to join w...hen it gets closer. So keep an eye out for that. Hopefully by then we may have an idea on when we can start playing. There are as always a few jobs to be filled. We will also be taking names soon, with no footy and netball this year I’m hearing there’s plenty of keen players. So fingers crossed, hopefully we can get out there sooner rather than later. Thanks everyone, Paul See more

11.01.2022 Annual General Meeting Ouyen Lawn Tennis Club Wednesday September 30 7.30 pm Via Zoom Please check Ouyen Lawn... Tennis club FB page for link. To be followed by a general meeting. 08.01.2022 A big thanks to everyone who turned up for this morning’s working bee. We got the job done, courts should hopefully be in great nick for the start of the season. A steady stream of names are coming in, numbers are looking good, if you’re keen for tennis, don’t forget to let us know.

07.01.2022 Just a reminder, tennis starts this Friday night. Teams will be picked Wednesday night and posted on FB. So keep an eye out. I’ll also say which teams are playing on Friday night. Still room for a couple of more players if you haven’t got your name in.

05.01.2022 Thanks to everyone who attended our first ever online Zoom AGM, it was a great success. I (Paul Dean) have been voted in as president for another season. I’m also very happy to welcome in Melanie Grant as secretary, and Tania Doyle as treasurer. It’s all systems go for a season start on Friday October 9 (next Friday) teams will be picked Wednesday prior to that.

05.01.2022 Who’s keen for a casual midweek hit? Mark, Gus and Scotty are keen for some midweek practice, and also keen to pass on some tips to some younger players. It’s open to everyone, and it’d be great to see a few get along and pick up some great tips from these 3, and Also any other number 1 or 2 players who may come along. The format will run something like this. Play 4 games with a partner against another pair, then rotate partners, and do that again, and so on. This will give everyone a chance to have a hit against and with a A grader, with pauses so they can help your game with tips. So no teams, or commitment, it’ll be just worked out from whoever turns up. It’ll be Wednesday with a 5.30 start, and basically finish when everyone has had enough.

04.01.2022 Round 4 After round 2 and 3 were both consecutively washed out, the weather forecast wasn’t looking good for the scheduled Friday night round 4 match’s. So rather than risking missing another round the decision was made to switch it to Monday night, cup eve. The Monday night weather turned out to be perfect for the 2 matches of tennis. Babolat v Wilson This was Wilson’s first hit for the season after having the bye in round 1, and with a few not getting the memo that tenn...is was on Monday night a few last minute fill ins were needed to get this game happening. Thanks to those who answered the last minute call up to help out. The Babolat men gave their team a nice start with a 6 game win in their section, while the Babolat women were able to increase that lead with a 5 game win. This gave Babolat a nice 11 game lead going into the mixed/extra doubles. Babolat were too strong in the final section of the night winning that by 9 games and therefore giving them a 20 game win overall. Three set winners were Matthew Hill, Jacob Coe and Jade Eames all playing for Babolat. Scores Babolat 11 sets 82 games def Wilson 4 sets 62 games. Prince v Slazenger Some great sets of tennis were played in this match, with some good match ups. The Prince men were slightly to strong for their Slazenger counterparts with a 7 game win in their section, while the Ladies had a close battle with a 2 game win to Prince there. This gave Prince a nice 9 game lead going into the mixed/extra doubles. Prince went on with the job with a strong finish in the last section winning that by 12 games and giving them a comfortable 21 game win. Three set winners were Jack Cook and Mia Hulland from Prince and Liam Munro of Slazenger. Scores Prince 9 sets 73 games def Slazenger 6 sets 52 games. Ladder. Prince have the bye.

04.01.2022 Keep this in mind for February

04.01.2022 Below are entry info for the Red Cliffs senior tournament. Who is keen to head up the highway??

03.01.2022 Weather is looking good for this Friday’s matches, second last before the Christmas break. Prince v Head and Wilson v Slazenger. Babolat have the bye. Don’t forget tomorrow afternoons great opportunity to have a practice hit. 5.30 pm. Get along and have a hit with and against an A grader. I don’t want to say back in my day.... but back in my day everyone had a midweek practice hit... so if you can... get along!!

02.01.2022 A committee meeting was held last night. Preparations have begun for organising the tournament. Fingers crossed it will go ahead in these uncertain times. Other things to come from the meeting include membership. Most people have paid their membership fees, that is terrific and thankyou everyone. There are still a few however yet to pay, so if you’re one of those please do ASAP. Membership forms are in the clubhouse, you can either pay in cash, or directly into the bank, de...tails are on the form. Also court etiquette. It was brought up last night that this is slipping, mainly with a few of the younger boys (not naming names). Poor etiquette includes trying to play trick shots, clowning around with your mates while on court, not trying your best in a match, among a few other things. If you’re deliberately doing any of these things you’re actually not showing respect towards the other people on the court with you. So please keep in mind we all like to be shown respect in whatever we do. If anyone wants to clown around etc than the courts are open every other day/night of the week. So go your hardest. Other then that, the forecast is looking good for a warm one tomorrow night. So we will see you all then. See more

02.01.2022 Round 1 The first round of matches was played on Friday night to kick off the tennis season in the Ouyen Lawn tennis club competition. This followed after a very well attended practice hit of juniors. It was great to welcome some new players, and it was also really good to welcome back a few players who haven’t played for a few seasons. Once again we were able to get 50 players signing up to go into a team, which enables us to have 5 teams of 10. Babolat v Prince Both mat...ches on paper looked like they would be fairly even, but unfortunately this wasn’t the case with this match on the courts. The prince men were rock solid in their section scoring a pretty much perfect 36 games giving them a 13 game lead. While in the the ladies section Prince were also to strong winning by 9 games and giving them a insurmountable 22 game lead heading into the mixed/extra doubles. Prince went on with the job winning the last section by 12 games and giving them an overall 34 game win. The highlight of this match was the match up of Samuel Mead and newcomer Mark Woodhouse. Mark is new to town and has played tennis at a high level as a junior. Their first match was a marathon tie breaker with Samuel teaming up with Dylan Davis to just get the win against Mark who played with Nick Vine. We look forward to seeing a lot more of Mark and his tennis skills throughout the season. Three set winners from this match were all Prince players and they were Ben Mole, Ryan Mckay, Jack Cook, Jarn Clark, Chelsea Jeffries and Joel Grace. Scores Prince 12 sets 87 games def Babolat 3 sets 53 games. Slazenger v Head This one also looked like it would be a close game on paper, but unlike the other game that’s exactly how it turned out. The Slazenger men got their team into a good position with a 6 game win in their section. The Head Lady’s reduced this lead with a win in that section by 4 games and therefore giving Slazenger a 2 game lead going into the mixed/extra doubles. Head came home like a steam train in the final section winning that by 8 games and therefore giving them a 6 game win overall. Three set winners were Scott Brady of Head and Jai Grayling of Slazenger. Scores Head 8 sets 66 games def Slazenger 7 sets 60 games. See more

01.01.2022 Round 10 Another perfect Friday night greeted tennis players for the final round before the Christmas and new year break. One very close match was played, while another game that was closer than the scores indicated was also played. It was also a night that had everything, including a Lewis Hahnel tweener. Babolat v Slazenger This was the close one of the night coming down to the last set before we had a winner. The Slazenger men came out in front by 5 games in their sect...ion, while in the women’s section it was Babolat who came out in front by 6 games. So the difference was just 1 game going into the mixed/extra doubles in Babolats favour. Slazenger came out in front in the last section by 5 games which gave them a narrow 4 game win overall. Three set winners were Joe Brady and Liam Munro of Slazenger, while Nick Vine won his 3 sets for Babolat. Scores Slazenger 8 sets 73 games def Babolat 7 sets 69 games. Head v Wilson This was a game between the 4th placed Head, and the 5th placed Wilson who are yet to have a win. The overall scores say it was one sided, but it was a night where one team just couldn’t seem to win the crucial points to win the games that counted. 9 of the 15 sets played were 6-4 or closer, but unfortunately for Wilson 7 of those sets went Heads way. While the other 6 matches were also won by Head. The men’s section saw Head win by 18 games. The ladies section ended in a tie at 23 each. The mixed/extra doubles was won by Head by 6 games giving them a 24 game win overall. Three set winners were Deane Munro, Bailey Pengally, Matt Hill, Liam Vine, Jonty Pengally and Tarryn Brady all playing for Head. Scores Head 13 sets 92 games def Wilson 2 sets 68 games. Ladder. Pts. % Prince. 26. 148.9 Babolat. 16. 99.5 Slazenger. 16. 95.6 Head. 16. 92.3 Wilson. 6. 79.8 So that brings us to the Christmas and new year holiday break with the ladder clearly showing there is one red hot flag favourite, three very even challengers, and one team that would be happy just to have a win. We look forward to seeing what happens when we recommence in early February. Wishing everyone a very merry Christmas and a safe and happy new year.

01.01.2022 Grand final Just filling everyone in with everything that is going on re corona virus and the tennis grand final. At this stage the grand final is going ahead, but bear in mind the situation is changing almost every hour. We have received advice from tennis Victoria that all tennis Victoria comps are too cease immediately, these include Victorian pennant comps, association junior leagues, and tennis Victoria comps. As well as tournaments. However the decision regarding comm...unity play (which is what we come under) has been left to the discretion of individual clubs. We feel we can continue as the people at our grand final will generally be people who mix in our community as it is. We will take measures in the interest in hygiene to minimise the spread of germs. These include no handshakes after matches (you can touch racquets) use hand sanitisers regularly that are in the club, and there will be no meal. It will be a 6.30 for a 7pm start. Good luck to both teams. See more

01.01.2022 Under a big cloud of uncertainty the OCTA grand final went ahead under perfect weather conditions on Friday night. Head went in as warm favourites having being beaten just once throughout the season, but Slazenger who had some good wins in the latter half of the season weren’t to be written off. The Head men got their team into a good position with an 11 game win in their section, while the Ladies was much closer with Head winning there by just 2 games. One season highlight... for Slazenger was the combination of Bec Vallance and Jade Eames who almost went through the season undefeated, but unfortunately they couldn’t make it a 100% success for the season with their first loss occurring in the grand final. So this made the margin 13 games in the final section of the night. Too Slazengers credit they fought the night out well winning the mixed/extra doubles by 4 games, but this wasn’t enough with Head winning overall by 9 games and taking out the premiership for season 2019/20. Three set winners for Head were Todd Barker and Joel Grace, while Ash Morrish filling in for Slazenger won her 3 sets. Scores Head 8 sets 72 games def Slazenger 7 sets 63 games. So this brings us to the end of another successful season for the Ouyen Lawn tennis club, we would like to thank everyone who makes Lawn tennis possible in our town. Also thanks to everyone who helps us out on a Friday night, and thanks to the captains of each team. Also thanks to the North West Express for publishing our weekly reports and also tournament reports. Please stay safe and healthy over the winter period and we will hopefully see you all again next summer. See more

01.01.2022 Attention!!!! All tennis for tonight is cancelled!!! A hot north wind is blowing in hot weather and it won’t cool down tonight. Stay cool and hydrated everyone.

01.01.2022 Ok it’s semifinals this Friday night, and it’s Head v Wilson Slazenger v Prince. In an attempt to avoid any controversial fill ins for this year’s final we have been keeping a record of what number everyone has been playing each week throughout the season. So if you’re on the lookout for a fill in please contact either Scotty or Paul via messenger and let us know who you have in mind and what number you’re thinking of playing them!! We will let you know yay or nay... the aim of this is to for example not have someone who regularly plays number 1 suddenly filling in at number 3.

So please let me know if you’re playing. There’s always a couple of people who contact us after we’ve picked the teams telling us they forgot to get their name in... please don’t be one of these people!!!

25.12.2021 Round 9 A thundery and stormy Friday night threatened to put a halt to resumption of tennis after the Christmas break, but even though the courts were pretty damp we got through. One match was between the top placed Prince and the third placed Head, while the other was a battle for 4th place with Wilson taking on Slazenger. Head V Prince A win for Prince here would cement top spot on the ladder for them, a win for Head would put them into second place, and just 1 win away ...from the ladder leaders. With Princes number 1 man Lewis Hahnel not taking his place in the team the door was slightly open for Head to sneak an upset win against Prince. The mens section was close with Prince coming through 4 games in front there, but the Head Ladies had a good night winning their section by 12 games which gave Head a nice 8 game lead going into the mixed/extra doubles. The final section of the night was close one too with Head winning that narrowly by 2 games and giving them a 10 game win overall. Three set winners for Head were Tanya Doyle and Kylie Leviston, while Liam Vine won his 3 sets for Prince. Scores Head 8 sets 71 games def Prince 7 sets 61 games. Wilson v Slazenger This match was a must win for both teams, for Wilson the win would cement their place in the four, a win for Slazenger would keep their finals hopes alive. The Wilson men stamped their authority on the night with a good 13 game win in their section, while the Slazenger Ladies had a win in their section by 4 games making the margin 9 games going into the mixed/extra doubles. Wilson came home the stronger team in the final section of the night winning that by 10 games and giving them a 19 game win, and pretty much confining Slazenger to the wooden spoon. Three set winners were were Ben Mole, Joel Grace and Samuel Mead playing for Wilson, while Regan Eames won her 3 sets for Slazenger. Scores Wilson 9 sets 75 games def Slazenger 6 sets 56 games. Ladder. Pts. % Prince. 20. 124.2 Head. 16. 99.3 Wilson. 12. 99.3 Babolat . 12. 99.2 Slazenger. 4. 79.9 Round 10 So this sets us up for a very interesting run home into the finals, look at the percentages of the teams from 2nd to 4th. The battle is on to not be the team to finish 4th and have to play the top team in the semi final. This week it’s 2nd and 3rd playing each other with Head playing Wilson, while the other match sees Babolat playing their only after Christmas home away match against Slazenger. Babolat will want to win this to get themselves away from 4th spot, while Slazenger will be just going out for a bit of fun, and hoping to upset Babolats run into the final.
