18.01.2022 Join us on the 23rd of February at Club Savoy for a forum on soil. The day will include a presentation and workshop on understanding soil health and management strategies to improve it, and a discussion on the importance of dung beetles and their benefits. Tickets are only $20 and morning tea and lunch is included. This event is funded through the Securing North East Soils Through Knowledge Exchange project which is supported by the North East Catchment Management Authority, through funding from the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program (Regional Land Partnerships).

Planting new paddock trees is a great way to incrementally increase your shade in paddocks and helps to reduce stock impacts on remnant trees in your paddocks. It is a small act...ion that you can take that can have a big impact on the long term productivity of your property and biodiversity across our catchment. 02.01.2022 Agriculture Victoria is running GrazFert, a farm nutrient management program for farmers in the Boorhaman, Springhurst, Rutherglen, Chiltern, and Indigo Valley area. It provides an opportunity for farmers to access independent support and advice to optimise their soil management with information on interpreting soil tests, minimising nutrient losses, reducing soil acidity and maximising the economic returns from fertiliser and lime inputs. The course involves: 1. Farm visit ...to collect two soil samples to assess a range of soil parameters including nutrients, pH and cation-exchange capacity (late August) 2. Attendance at two local workshops focused on soil test interpretation and nutrient budgeting (October & December) 3. Preparation of a nutrient management plan by Agriculture Victoria staff.
