24.01.2022 I found the perfect flow for our workshops and built strong connections with the students, being able to personalise the content in ways that were applicable to them. Lincoln from the Griffith University India Community Internship group shared his lifetime experience from celebrating Indian Republic Day to painting murals, and finding ways to effectively communicate with the students. Gifts were exchanged and beautiful goodbyes were shared. Until next time! #griffithindia2020 #goglobalgriffith #newcolomboplan New Colombo Plan

21.01.2022 Welcome to the team Eve! We are super to excited to introduce our newest team member, Eve who will be our Regional Operations Manager based in Thailand. She brings with her over 15 years of working in student mobility and it will be fantastic to have someone in the team based in Asia year-round to host and support groups. The reason I love working in study abroad is that I love speaking with different people, being part of different cultures, showing people to see my bea...utiful country and I enjoy learning languages. Plus I love going back to help people who are struggling in the same environment I experienced as a child. My favourite experience is working with Universities, international students, local authorities, hospitals, schools, communities and villagers. Some of you have met Eve on placement before so please give her a warm welcome! See more

21.01.2022 Last week, the world celebrated #MandelaDay and the annual lecture Tackling the Inequality Pandemic: A New Social Contract for a New Era delivered by Antonio Guterres, United Nations Secretary General highlighted how COVID-19 has demonstrated the fragility of our world. It has laid bare risks we have ignored for decades: inadequate health systems; gaps in social protection; structural inequalities; environmental degradation; the climate crisis. These are the exact reasons why Nineteen Degrees was established as a social enterprise and why our programs focus so strongly on following the UN #SustainableDevelopmentGoals. As much as the facts are hard to hear we hope this speech inspires you to keep motivated and extend yourselves in your studies/careers and personal lives to help create positive change!

18.01.2022 Traffickers, Western donors and families desperate to educate their children. In Nepal, this dangerous mix has created a trade in fake orphans. Tonight at 8pm AEDT ABCs Foreign Correspondent looks at when orphans are not really orphans in the segment Paper Orphans. As most of you know we are proudly part of the ReThink Orphanages Australia network and tonight this episode features one of their members Forget Me Not. 10.01.2022 Gorgeous words from Aina Satake, an international nursing student from Griffith University that completed a recent placement in Laos! Through this placement, I learned again the importance of reaching out to those in need, and the medical, economic and educational disparity in developing country. Someone says volunteering in developing countries as watering the desert (a wasteful behaviour). Surely, supporting with new technologies and things is not always a good thing, a...s it can break existing cultures and habits. But I think medical and educational volunteers are about increasing their life choices, which is beneficial to people, especially young people...Also, this placement was a good opportunity to reconsider what I want to do and what I can do in the future. Wishing you all the best for your future nursing career Aina! Thanks for sharing! #griffithlaos2020 #goglobalgriffith See more
