24.01.2022 I went back to yoga yesterday for the first time in what feels like forever! I definitely felt like a sheep in full wool & nowhere near as graceful as in this picture It was great to get back into a hobby outside of the farm though.... Do you have something non-farm related you like to do? #lifebalance #yoga #selfcare #hobby #offfarmlife #woolyjumper #hobbyfarm #lifestyleblock #smallfarm #smallfarms #mudgee #mudgeeregion #overthefencesmallfarmsupport

21.01.2022 The girls are desperate to cuddle a chook . We have told them repeatedly not to chase them around and they have finally started trying a new tactic . The chooks are slowly venturing further out into the paddock but live up to their name when a cheeky magpie stirs them up and they flee back to their house ... . . . #chooksofinstagram #isabrowns #hobbyfarm #hobbyfarming #kidsandtheirchooks #lifestyleblock #smallfarm #smallfarms #mudgeeregion #mudgee #holisticfarmmanagement #regenerativeagriculture #soilhealth #chickenscandothework #overthefencesmallfarmsupport See more

19.01.2022 We spotted a fox sniffing around the chook pen last night. Thankfully the chooks were safely tucked up in bed.

19.01.2022 I have found wood shavings really effective in keeping the chook pen clean and smell free. . I only need to clean the pen out about once a month now instead of scraping the poo up and hosing the concrete every week. . The shavings & chook poo mix is the perfect stuff to put on bare patches in our paddocks too.... . It’s a win win! . . . . #happyhens #pasturedeggs #holisticfarming #regenag #holisticfarmmanagement #agriculture #hobbyfarm #hobbyfarming #lifestyleblock #soilhealth #healthysoilhealthyyou #overthefencesmallfarmsupport See more

16.01.2022 I am always looking for Farm management/Regen Ag podcasts & other material I relate to as a small farmer. This podcast explains the way I like to look at farming really well & has a few easy things you can implement on your small farm. Running a farm doesn’t have to be scientific & prescriptive. ... Every farm is different, from your soil & plants to your lifestyle. Observation is the key. Let nature be your teacher. Be willing to keep learning, change and grow with the seasons & create the farm you want by adapting farming practices that suit your lifestyle and values. Everything starts from the ground up. If you can grow healthy living soil then the rest will follow. https://podcasts.apple.com//p/transfarmation/id1352767784

09.01.2022 I am a bit late for R U Ok day. I believe every day is are you ok day. Just like regularly checking on your sheep and other animals, make sure you check on yourself and your mates. ... I have found I get a bit wool blind when I’m down. Accepting help or admitting there’s even anything wrong is hard. It makes it difficult for my mates to do anything for me. But they don’t have to help or fix me. A bit of compassion goes a long way. Just knowing there is someone there to remind me it’s OK not to be OK means a lot. It helps me get out the other side and not go deeper into the spiral of shame and self hate because there is something wrong with me. Sending love to anyone out there who is struggling at the moment. You got this. It’s OK to not be OK.

03.01.2022 I know what I’m watching this weekend!!

01.01.2022 St. Johns Wart is coming into flower at this time of year. This woody weed can poison livestock when plants are in full flower. Causing photosensitivity & agitation (really bad sunburn & skin irritation), confusion & depression. In extreem cases St. Johns Wart can cause fertility problems, still birth & death.... Black faced sheep are more tolerant to St. Johns Wart. For best management, slash or spray before St. Johns Wart goes to flower. Take sheep out of an infested paddock before it is in full flower. If there is a small amount in the paddocks that the stock are grazing in, ensure sheep have plenty of shade & other feed.

01.01.2022 Perfect day for a farms skills workshop . . . #farmskills #sheephandling #fencing #windeyer #windeyerpub #connectlearngrow #mudgee #mudgeeregion #overthefencesmallfarmsupport
