25.01.2022 Our Pump and Heavy Rescue responded to a Unit Fire this evening with Mortdale Fire Station. Quick thinking by the occupants prevented what could have been a tra...gic outcome. When a bar heater was found on fire in a toddlers room, quick extinguishment and evacuation prevented fire spread and injury. Firefighters ventilated the unit and checked for fire spread as well as provided first aid prior to the arrival of an ambulance. #ProtectTheIrreplaceable #firefighter #firetruck #unitfire #fire #fireandrescuensw @frnswmedia

25.01.2022 Did you know that when you are asleep you cant smell smoke? A working smoke alarm provides a critical early warning, giving you and your family time to escape in the event of a fire in the home. Apart from regular testing of smoke alarms, they also need to be replaced every ten years or sooner if specified by the manufacturer. Expiry dates will often be on the rear of the alarms. #overwatchfireservices #smokealarmfacts #onlyworkingsmokealarmssavelives

18.01.2022 Important information.

18.01.2022 Home fire safety tip: With the cold weather and home dryers being used more frequently, when did you last clean the lint filter on your dryer. Check lint filters on clothes dryers to prevent fires.

18.01.2022 Fascinating work being done by traditional owners.

16.01.2022 During this cold snap, be sure to be home fire vigilant: 1. Never leave cooking unattended. 2. Keep items away from heating appliances. 3. Never leave children unattended near heating appliances / slow combustion heaters.... 4. Maintain fireplaces. Your wood heater should be serviced once a year and you should have your flue cleaned regularly by your local chimney sweep. Fire Blankets: Before putting your electric blanket on your bed make sure you dust it off. Check for frayed cords or damaged wiring because they could cause your blanket to short-circuit and start a fire. Heat Bags: Never overheat them because they can catch fire. When heating them, leave a glass of water in the microwave to keep the bag moist. Dont place in confined spaces like your bed because the bag can overheat and catch fire.

15.01.2022 Correctly working residential smoke alarms save lives. Pushing the button alone only confirms there is power to the alarm and does not test the full functionality of the alarm. Overwatch Fire Services offers a full comprehensive testing and inspection service of residential smoke alarms, including providing a conditions report.

15.01.2022 Always make sure your chimney is clear.

15.01.2022 Important information from Federal Health.

15.01.2022 During these challenging times, its important to support local business. Thanks Ross Granata Motors- Mudgee for the outstanding customer service in the delivery of our new business vehicle.

14.01.2022 Dont have an unexpected visit from the big red truck this long weekend. Most fires involving barbecues are due to leaking gas bottles, faulty connections or a build-up of grease and fat. The following steps can reduce your risk of fire:... 1. Inspect the cylinder for damage. Always exchange damaged cylinders with a reputable supplier. 2. Inspect hose, regulator & connections for damage. Spray hose & regulator with soapy water from a spray bottle. If soap bubbles appear, you know gas is escaping. 3. Check your BBQ is clean. Excess grease and fat can cause a fire. Never use a BBQ indoors or up against buildings. If a fire does start from a gas leak, DONT try to extinguish the flames. Turn the gas off at the cylinder, but only if safe to do so. Any fire that cant be contained , call 000 immediately.

14.01.2022 At Overwatch Fire we love servicing the fire and safety needs of country businesses. We make sure our pricing is very reasonable as we know its challenging times. #overwatchfireservices #mudgee #firesafety

14.01.2022 This is a great example from the Country Fire Authority in Victoria why you should have your Chimney cleaned at least once a year. This is excessive carbon build-up, which can lead to an unwanted fire. #getyourchimneycleaned #firesafety #overwatchfire

14.01.2022 Volunteers are amazing people. Particularly our emergency services volunteers

13.01.2022 When was the last time you cleaned the filters on your kitchen rangehood? Oils and grease can build up creating a fire risk! We can assist with this along with many other home fire prevention services. www.overwatchfire.com.au #overwatchfireservices #homefiresafety #kitchenfires #safetyisourprofession

10.01.2022 A great demonstration from the BBC why you should NEVER use water on a fat/grease fire.

08.01.2022 If youre snuggling up in front of the fireplace this winter, make sure youre aware of the risks involved. House fires can start in the fireplace or chimney an...d can be easily avoided by following these simple steps: Keep your fireplace, wood heater and stove clean Place a metal mesh screen around open fireplaces Use only seasoned (old and dry) hardwood Never burn cardboard boxes or rubbish in a fireplace Never leave an open fire unattended Dispose of ash correctly Extinguish fires completely by smothering it with ash before going to bed or leaving the house : Fire and Rescue NSW Station 411 Oberon

08.01.2022 **** NOISE WARNING**** The new apple iOS 14 update has a pretty cool feature. It’s sound recognition capability allowing a notification to flash on the devices screen if a smoke alarm activates within range of the device. Like all technology, this alone SHOULD NOT be relied on for anyone with a hearing impairment. To activate , go to : settings > sound recognition > turn on > smoke alarms. #SmokeAlarmsSaveLives #overwatchfireservices

08.01.2022 Thats how easy a fire can start.

06.01.2022 A good example why you NEVER use water to put out an oil fire in the Kitchen.

05.01.2022 Solar panels are a very popular addition to homes, however fires involving solar panels have increased dramatically- almost 80% in the last five years. Solar pa...nels were found to be the cause of four fires in the last week alone and are up more than 20% from this time last year, with solar isolation switches causing almost half of all solar panel-related fires. NSW residents can play their part in ensuring solar panels are as safe as possible by making sure their solar panel system complies with Australian standards and using a qualified installer. Its always a good idea to do a license check with NSW Fair Trading before any work takes place. Remember, calling Triple Zero (000) for a fire emergency can be the difference between life and death, or a building or other property being saved or destroyed. For more information on solar panel safety, visit the Fair Trading website here: https://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au//during-th/solar-panels

01.01.2022 The leading cause of home fires is unattended cooking. Dont add to this statistic. Stay in the kitchen while cooking and turn off the stove before you leave. #PreparedForAnything #ProtectTheIrreplaceable #MoreThanFire
