21.01.2022 Short Term Accommodation & Assistance (STA/ RESPITE) Our Short Term Accommodation (STA) Program can help you develop your independence and encourage you to get out and about in the community. Short Term Accommodation is also a chance for your family and carers to relax and take a short break from their daily routine. It’s a great program for those who wish to interact with others and make friends along the way. Our STA Program accommodates both planned stays as well as crisis... and emergency respite for families that require assistance. We have accommodations for adults as well as specific accommodations for children and teenagers ages 618 years old. Supported Independent Living (SIL) Need help finding your forever home? We can help! What is Supported Independent Living (SIL)? NDIA-funded SIL Accommodation provides assistance with and/or supervision of tasks relating to daily life in a shared living environment with a focus on developing the skills of each individual to live as independently as possible. SIL Accommodation can suit a range of clients, including those who wish to live with friends or people they trust, where clients needs can be complex and other options are limited, or where it is a person’s own choice. SIL Accommodation includes gaining access to support workers and skill & capacity builders that clients may need in order to live in a shared arrangement. SIL Accommodation does not include board and lodging or other day-to-day living expenses (i.e. food and activities) or the capital costs associated with a person’s accommodation. Many clients with an SIL arrangement can also have a Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) package, which covers the cost of the physical accommodation.
