23.01.2022 Sorry everyone, but Mount Lofty Botanic Gardens will be closed tomorrow as there is a Total Fire Ban. See you next weekend I hope

18.01.2022 Just using a fork to add a little extra crunch to today’s fresh strawberry and rhubarb muffins. Perfect with a coffee after an Anzac Day walk through the Mount Lofty Botanic Gardens. We are there today from 10 until 5. Although the car park will fill up quickly today, you can drive through and drop off your picnic and the family before parking on Piccadilly Oval for a gold coin donation to the netball club. I even have cardboard boxes which are NOT to be used for sliding down the hill.

17.01.2022 Even MORE beautiful this weekend. Just. Come. Now.

17.01.2022 The final day of our Easter marathon at the Botanic Gardens today. It’s been fantastic, a mandolin player turned up and serenaded us for a couple of hours. And yesterday I sat down for 5 whole minutes.! We also have crepes, made by a Frenchman. So if you haven’t called in yet, I recommend you do. Open today from 10 - 5. Day 4 - bring it on!

16.01.2022 Sorry everyone but Mount Lofty Botanic Gardens has closed again this morning. This time due to high winds. It may open this afternoon, in which case I’ll let you know. If so we will be there after 2pm. I must say it’s a mixed blessing for me as my lovely barista, Victoria Grace, who many of you will remember from the O & E is getting married today and I’ll be able to go to her wedding I’ll pass on your collective congratulations!

16.01.2022 Some days are diamonds. The Makers Market at Waratah Cottage, Basket Range on Saturday was certainly one of them. I think we may have finally found a backdrop to the coffee machine that beats the Botanic Gardens. Lovely creative people and such a great vibe. Then we dusted the coffee off ourselves and headed on to this groovy little backyard folk gig with equally stunning views of apple and cherry orchards. Why would you want to be any place on earth other than the Adelaide Hills on a Saturday in Spring.

11.01.2022 I’m sorry to say we won’t be at Mount Lofty Botanic Gardens tomorrow as it’s closed due to a Severe weather warning. Hard to believe as I drove to Ashton through thick fog to collect the coffee this evening! We will be there on Sunday which promises to be perfect hot chocolate weather.

11.01.2022 Tomorrow (Saturday) we will be here from 11-3 in beautiful, beautiful Basket Range. This magical patch of paradise is everything Rundle Mall, Amazon and conspicuous consumption is not. Look them up on Instagram, come, bring children if you have access to them, and create a memory to last a decade.

08.01.2022 I’m afraid Mount Lofty Botanic Gardens is closed again today due to a Severe fire rating, so we won’t be there. However I have cooked up a whole lot of Balinese carrot cake and big honey joys which will be available tomorrow! Served with hot coffee by a French philosopher

07.01.2022 Today is International Chocolate Day. So here at the Botanic Gardens I’ve done a bit of extra baking to celebrate and here’s the line up. Marmalade and chocolate muffin, little chocolate cheesecake, peanut butter and chocolate brownie (gf). All of them wonderful with hot chocolate or coffee. Available all day Sunday too, as I’m sure it will still be Chocolate Day somewhere

07.01.2022 The coffee machine has been having a great week out and about. A beautiful Nature Play event in Uraidla on Tuesday and then a very busy weekend at the Mount Lofty Botanic Gardens. We will actually be at the Botanic Garden all through this week, including Anzac Day, as the weather is so good and it’s school holidays of course. So make the most of the gorgeous weather, the stunning autumn colours and the fact that there’s space in the car park during the week to pop in and see us. Coffee, cake, ice blocks and soft drinks available On Thursday morning we will not be open until 11.30 as there is an activity in the pavilion where we are based, but otherwise open from 10am each day. I love it when the O & E’s customers drop by for a coffee and a chat.

03.01.2022 Fall in love with our Red Velvet Cake. A celebration of the lingering beauty of Autumn, Scarlett O’Hara (and all feisty women), and Piccadilly Valley beetroot (thanks Tara Cobbledick). Available at Mount Botanic Garden this weekend until sold out. Perfect with a hot chocolate made with Dutch processed cocoa and local Tweedvale milk. Sunny tomorrow

02.01.2022 We are popping up tomorrow for a Nature play session at Uraidla Oval out of the Lions bar. So if you fancy a coffee and a rhubarb and white chocolate muffin come on down between 10am and 12. The very sharp eyed among you may recognise Chloe and Christo, my own nature kids and baristas to be at the O & E.
