25.01.2022 The battle over by-laws is brewing - OCN calls for communities to have the democratic right to decide ... on pets, parties and all manner of activities that impact their communal amenity - https://www.smh.com.au//nail-in-the-coffin-of-democracy-it
25.01.2022 Bravo, NSW Building Commissioner!
24.01.2022 Did you know the first public electric vehicle (EV) charging station was installed in City of Sydney back in 2010? Since then EVs have soared in popularity and the question now for strata residents and owners corporations is when, not if, EV charging will need to be installed in strata communities. Discover the key things you need to know at OCN’s upcoming free on-line webinar, ‘Gear Up for Electric Vehicles’ on 2 December from 1pm 2pm. Find out what’s on the agenda and register to attend here https://ocn.org.au/events/

21.01.2022 Another example of Airbnb doing too little too late. Bad behaviour will continue until this industry is effectively regulated. https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-53849920#
21.01.2022 OCN is pleased to see the NSW Government allocate $1 Billion towards interest-free loans and technical support for the replacement of dangerous flammable cladding on high rise apartment buildings. Many strata owners and owners corporations have been struggling to budget for the rectification of their buildings, as the cost can amount to several million dollars which is not covered by any warranty, builder’s insurance or other support. Read the article about the budget measure here https://ocn.org.au/interest-free-loans-part-of-1b-program-/
05.01.2022 With tourism at a low ebb, Lisbon, Barcelona, and other cities are moving to bring balance back to their housing market. So why is NSW forging ahead with plans to open residential homes to tourism?
02.01.2022 The ongoing failure of developers and regulators to fix the legacy of poor building practices continues to impact the lives of strata owners and occupiers in Mascot Towers and in other defective multi-residential towers across the country. As those interviewed in this week’s ABC Australia 7.30 Report story said, too many apartment owners are still left in limbo. https://www.abc.net.au//mascot-towers-apartment-o/12916882
