22.01.2022 In honour of R U OK Day today, one of the events in the Oxley Olympics is the Kindness Project. This event encourages Senior School students to do something positive for someone in the community. Students have risen to the occasion and we have seen many displays of kindness through creative acts, including cooking meals and putting together care packages for elderly neighbours and friends, writing letters of encouragement, and connecting with friends. Also, one Junior School student made 100 origami hearts, each with a handwritten note of thanks on the back, to give to very appreciative healthcare workers at St Vincent's Hospital! #ruokday #kindness

22.01.2022 In a year when so much is different, one thing that hasn’t changed is our opportunity to bless a child in Cambodia, the Philippines, or Papua New Guinea. Each year Oxley Christian College, LMC, and Oxley Kids contribute around 600 Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes to be distributed to vulnerable children, who would otherwise go without. Along with the gifts come a message of hope and further support, such as assistance with water filtration, medical and educational facilit...ies, training, and resources. We hope as a community that you will join with us again this year, to ensure these children are not forgotten but instead more than blessed! 21.01.2022 Welcome to the second week of the Oxley Olympics! Competition is fierce, with all teams displaying enormous energy and enthusiasm by participating in all events, certainly making it a very close race. In fact, each House has been in the lead at one point! The first challenge this week was the Baked Decorating. Year 12 student, Callum Bish, entered this masterpiece for his team, Zion Crusaders (Blue House). It's a parody of the swimming carnival. The cake is double-layered chocolate, covered in fondant icing. Blue ganache features in between the layers with the bleachers and podium also made of cake, and the pool water made from jumbled blue jelly. Could this be the gold medal winner? 20.01.2022 The countdown to official classes ending and VCE exams commencing for Year 12s is underway! This morning as students arrived, they were greeted by brightly decorated lockers containing personal messages of encouragement and artworks. A BIG thank you to our Junior School students for their thoughtfulness Year 12s were really blessed!

15.01.2022 What a full week it has been so far! It started with the much-anticipated return of our Year 8 to 10 students. We are so pleased to have them back! We also celebrated the Year 12 Final Assembly. Led by Senior School Captains, Erin and Liam, and Vice Captains, Chloe and Joshua, this wonderful occasion epitomised the teamwork and unity of the cohort. Year 12 students had a fun and memorable Final Day yesterday as they dressed up in costumes and a day of activities including the traditional House Competition which ended with the hotly contested Year 11 versus Year 12 basketball game. Year 12 were the winners which was a brilliant way to end the day! Congratulations Year 12! We are so proud of the way you have shown resilience and overcome so much disruption this year. We pray for you all as you now prepare for exams!

13.01.2022 The Oxley Olympics have now come to an end with a stellar closing ceremony to mark the end of two weeks of incredible competition. If ever there has been an event that tested and forged the Oxley community, then this has to be one of the best. The Oxley Olympics gave our Senior School students a much-needed boost during Term 3, as well as the opportunity to compete for points to determine the 2020 House Trophy. Well done to all students who entered into the spirit of the Gam...es and used the opportunity to stretch themselves and try something new. 10.01.2022 We are pleased to announce that one of our dedicated and hardworking staff, Susan Hamilton, has been recognised in this year's Australian Teacher Aide of the Year Awards! Susan has been highly commended for her outstanding support to students with disability and learning difficulties, for the past twenty-one years. With Susan’s support and encouragement, some students have gone on to achieve their VCE and successful further study and careers. 06.01.2022 VALE Wilfred Gordon 1937 - 2020 It is with sadness that we inform you that Wilfred Gordon, a past teacher at Oxley Christian College, passed away peacefully on... Sunday afternoon, aged 83. Our love and prayers go to his wife Dulcie, and two daughters, Bridgette Odd and Mary-Ann Odd, and their families, during this sad time. Bridgette commented that although it is very sad, it is also a wonderful release. "Dad would be visiting with Daniel and Pastor Oxley and his parents and siblings already, no doubt! He loved gallivanting all over the place. Mr Gordon’s teaching career spanned 44 years of very distinguished service, with over 19 of those at Oxley in the Junior School. He and Dulcie, also a teacher at Oxley, both commenced in 1981 and retired in 2000, to spend a fulfilling retirement together. Mr Gordon will be remembered fondly by many staff and past students.

06.01.2022 Junior School students and staff recently completed a colourful display entitled 'You Grow Through What You Go Through'. It was a visual representation of a challenge or something they missed, during the period of remote learning. Then, they had to think of an area in which they had grown during this time. The challenge was represented by a water drop, with growth represented by a flower. They then reflected upon the fact that it is often the challenges, the difficult times, which are food or nourishment for our growth. A big thank you to Mrs Claudia Weller for running with this idea and seeing it through to its beautiful fruition!
