25.01.2022 Hi Otters TUESDAY CLASSES CANCELLED DUE TO STORM ACTIVITY Unfortunately, due to the building storm on the BOM radar, the time it’s due & the intensity at which it’s building, we cannot predict what will happen this afternoon, so in the interest of swimmer and staff safety we are CANCELLING ALL swimming lessons AND aqua classes today.... We apologise for any inconvenience, but in the spirit of Swim Safer Week, we simply do not want to put any swimmers or staff at risk of lightning strike. We promise the classes will be made up before the end of swimming term. 25.01.2022 Oxley Otters Swimming Club is seeking an enthusiastic person to become the Swim School and Aquatics Coordinator at our after school swim school. The successful candidate will be rewarded with an exciting seasonal opportunity, with flexible hours, above award wages and a fun and happy working environment. The Swim School & Aquatics Coordinator leads and manages all aspects of the Oxley Otters Aquatics Programs including the Learn to Swim program, Squad training, and Aqua Aer...obics and Adult Swim Fitness classes. The successful applicant will be required to have a firm knowledge and understanding of all aspects of a Learn to Swim School program, have great communication skills and be highly organised. Experience in the industry is essential, as is a swim teacher qualification, a current blue card and Provide CPR certificate. Please apply by 31st August ready for a late September start date. 25.01.2022 Hi Otters! This week is Swim Safer Week! We’ll be adding some extra safety and survival techniques in our lessons this week, so please send some play clothes along with your swimmers. We’ll be practising falling into water fully clothed, rescue techniques, and other swim safety routines. Looking forward to seeing you all at the pool, stay cool Otters.

24.01.2022 Hi Otters! Looks like today's storm has passed, and we'll only get rain from now on. Reminder that we DO continue swim lessons & squads during rain - we only cancel if there's lightning. Our swim team are keeping watch on today's weather, and we will let you know if there are any changes to our Thursday program. We're watching BOM radar and our My Lightning Tracker app - we encourage you to do the same. Please check our page if you're unsure - we will post here first if there are any changes. 21.01.2022 And last but not least, Chrissy has been successful at the new role of Swim School and Aquatics Coordinator. This is an extension of her previous role, and will see her now managing the swim school component of Oxley Otters and helping to take the daily load off the volunteers. You will still see Chrissy on pool deck most afternoons scheduling classes, and doing all her usual magic for the customers and will now also see her responsible for helping streamline current processes, reporting to the P&C and the school and helping the coach and swim teachers set up targets with the students. You will also still see her running our aqua aerobics classes. I am very happy we have been able to create this role and get this amazing person to do it for us.

20.01.2022 Hi Otters, The sun is shining again today and we are going to start to fill our 15 minute makeup sessions (or some group sessions where we can) in the spaces we have scheduled. We still have a few spaces left if you'd like to get your swimmers enrolled... Intensives are 5x consecutive days, Monday to Friday, 18th-22nd January, squads commencing at 7am, with Learn to Swim commencing 8.30am. 13.01.2022 Hi Otters! ALL swim sessions CANCELLED today due to severe weather warning & approaching lightning strikes we’re putting our swimmers & staff safety 1st. The weather map looks too unpredictable for us to make a call class-by-class today so in the interest of safety and convenience for all, we’re calling it early. Thanks for your never-ending support of our swim school, we give our utmost to keep our lessons happening, but so far this week Mother Nature is a little rand...om and is making the rules up as she goes. 11.01.2022 Who was lucky enough to meet the amazing Shaola last term? Shaola started work with us half way through the term and proved her self to be an amazing asset in those few weeks before shut down, and is passionate about teaching kids to swim. Shaola will be returning to us in term 4 most afternoons each week to run our learn to swim classes. Schedule and registration details to be announced very soon. Please watch this space.

This season we will be putting her amazing customer service skills and years of experience in learn to swim, education and child care settings to great use, implementing our covid safe action plan and providing general support on deck for all our staff and customers. For new members, Swim club is a fun night if times races where kids swim in short races against kids their own speed, earning points for beating their own best times. All is clear so far, and afternoon storm predictions have been changing throughout the day.... We’re currently waiting for our Covid Safe Plan to be approved - unfortunately we cannot open registrations for swimming lessons until the plan is approved. Fingers crossed - we’re hoping to commence lessons in either Week 2 or Week 3 we'll keep you up-to-date and advise you immediately we get notice of our plan being approved. Our Team Awesome has been working very hard behind the scenes to ens...ure everything will be smooth sailing when we do re-open for swimming lessons. Negotiating your & our needs and safety is foremost in our priorities, and we aim to be operating as soon as humanly possible. Thanks again for your continued support and patience. 01.01.2022 Many of you already know Lee from last season, and we are pleased to announce that Lee will be running all our squad groups this summer. Lee is aiming to incorporate some dry land training into the schedule to help our swimmers work on the correct muscle groups and is focussing her attention on stroke development and helping our squad swimmers reach their goals. The training schedule and registration link will be announced in coming weeks. Watch this space.
