25.01.2022 Oysterhouse is ideally located for your visit to the first three of the 19 Best Places in Tasmania.
22.01.2022 From Oysterhouse deck at dusk.
22.01.2022 Sand Boarding at Crescent Bay on the Tasman Peninsula.... looking for something to do with the kids these holidays - then this is it Located just after the tu...rn off to Port Arthur, these dunes are some of the largest in Tassie! They are also fast and you can reach up to 60 km/hr on your ride down the "runway"... plus go all the way into the waves. You walk in to Crescent Bay from the Remarkable Cave car park and it takes just under an hour. Once you reach Crescent Bay it is like "waking up on Christmas morning". Crescent Bay is home to 100+ metre sand dunes, crystal clear water and pure white sandy beaches. It looks like it belongs in a remote area of the South West Wilderness but it is right here on Tassies south east coast Getting there: From Hobart head over the Tasman Bridge and continue on the Arthurs Highway (A9), turning right at the main intersection in Sorell (sign for Tasmanian Peninsula). Continue for 70km until reaching the town of Port Arthur. Take the first left once leaving the township onto Safety Cove Road. Continue along this road until its end at the Remarkable Caves carpark. The walk begins 20m back up the road on the eastern side. #Tasmania Thanks to "The Point of Inflection" for sharing their adventures. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHieeBqZNRYdcpUE3RAoULw

15.01.2022 "This heart of mine was made to travel this world" - and there is no better place to explore than Tasmania. Today we share 20 of your pretty special captures fr...om all over our beautiful State. One of the coolest natural formations you will see (with the Milky Way thrown in), the most amazing rainbow every captured from high above Port Davey in our Southwest National Park, a magical night-time shot of the Milky Way from the Bay of Fires, a stunning scene from the Tarn Shelf at Mt Field and a pre-dawn blue hour shot Cradle Mountain, alongside a classic boat shed. Its always good to see things from a different perspective (high above Miena in the Central Highlands), a spectacular sunrise from Mt Barrow, a gorgeous Scottish Highland Cow really striking a pose, the aptly named Mermaids Beach at Bridport on Tassies north-east coast and Tulips are the most awaited flowers when Spring arrives in Tassie Oh and did we mention its always time to return to takayna/Tarkine and Tasmania has its very own Wanaka Tree. We love to share your Tassie videos, photos and stories with the world You can inbox us or post to our wall. 15.01.2022 This shaped island.
15.01.2022 All set for todays guests.
15.01.2022 WOW... This mornings beautiful sunrise from the Brooke Street Pier on the Hobart waterfront thanks to Katy Morgan The new Brooke Street Pier is a four storey... floating pier. It is both a building and a boat. It was constructed in 201415 at a cost of A$13 million. It weighs 5,300 tonnes (5,216 long tons) and was Australias largest floating building upon completion. The pier is primarily a ferry terminal key tenants are Navigators (operator of the MONA - Museum of Old and New Art ferry) and Peppermint Bay Hotel and Cruise. There are also a public space and a market area for other tourism operators and suppliers of Tasmanian produce, such as seafood, dairy, wine and whisky. #TasmaniaGram #InstaTasmania #Tasmania
15.01.2022 David Attenborough presents a must-see documentary on Tasmania to be aired this Sunday on ABC TV at 7:40pm. Attenborough narrates the story of a vast island wil...derness - ancient forests, pristine rivers & spectacular coastline. Seasons vary from dry heat, strong winds & cold bringing wombats, wallabies & platypus out in daylight. Tasmanias Black Devil Productions director and cinematographer Max Moller said David Attenboroughs Tasmania is a realisation of a dream come true and a gift for the people of the Apple Isle. https://www.examiner.com.au//sir-david-attenborough-docume
14.01.2022 Some added Oysterhouse luxury in the form of a new soft top king sized bed.
14.01.2022 Oysterhouse at dawn.
14.01.2022 Southern Right Whales frolicking on the Tasman Peninsula - truly beautiful footage Thanks to Damo and Susie from Wild Ocean Tasmania who says "Amazing to ...witness these two Southern Right Whales frolicking freely in their own space, time and place! ....its heartbreaking to think that 3.5nm away a major effort is under way re-establishing an old fish farm lease, despite the evidence from other places within Tassie that fish farms like these create dead zones, affecting the precious local marine life." #Tasmania You can also follow Wild Ocean Tasmania and find out about their spectacular tours via instagram and their website www.instagram.com/wildoceantasmania https://wildoceantasmania.com.au/
12.01.2022 "When you go out there you don’t get away from it all, you get back to it all. You come home to what’s important. You come home to yourself. ~ Peter Dombrovski...s Tasmania where being in the wilderness is getting away from it all and coming home is returning to the real world. Today we share a breathtaking view of our Milky Way and amazing skies over Ben Lomond National Park, we take the path that goes ever on and on to Solomon’s Throne in the Walls of Jerusalem, we gently interrupt a wombat having a snooze in the convict barn on Maria Island, discover the best view comes after the hardest climb to Cape Raoul and the spectacular Friendly Beaches on the Freycinet Peninsula is where we would rather be most of the time. Barn Bluff in the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park is a breathtaking sight, the crystal clear waters at Fortescue Bay are a must visit destination, the path that leads you to the ‘Edge of the World’ is a very special place, you won’t believe the view looking back at Lake Tahune from the slopes of Frenchman’s Cap deep in Tasmania’s south-west wilderness and Cradle Mountain is probably the most recognisable peaks in all of Tasmania and for good reason! Oh and did we mention we come face to face with the most adorable and first seal pup of the season on the Tasman Peninsula and we capture a unique and stunning take on one of the most iconic trees in Tasmania perched on the unmistakable orange lichen-covered granite boulders at the Bay of Fires. 10.01.2022 Tassies cutest animal... a platypus having a scratch in the Hobart Rivulet. Thanks to Steven who came across this little fella yesterday. Steven says: "Cant t...hink of too many cities in Australia that have platypus in their CBD... so when youre walking around the city next time you might just run into one." #Tasmania The platypus is widespread in the eastern states of Australia. In Tassie you can come across a platypus all across the state and are common in the lakes of the Central Highlands as well as the rivers and streams of the south, south-west and north-west coasts. Platypus are semi-aquatic and require access to freshwater habitats to forage, and earth banks to dig their burrows. Ideal platypus habitat includes rivers or streams with earth banks consolidated by the roots of native vegetation, abundant invertebrate prey, cobbled or gravel substrates, overhanging shady vegetation and a sequence of pools and riffles. However they can also occupy lakes and farm dams! You can also follow Steven via instagram: www.instagram.com/anamnesis30
