Hailing from the picturesque ocean-side Newcastle suburb of Bar Beach, it’s no surprise that both rugby and maritime life have run through these fellas blood since the day they were born. Their relationship has flourished over many years, bonding over shared interests like rugby union, beers, footy, blondes, rugby and leadership. There are even reports out of Oysters winger and fellow housemate Hamish Lorang that the trio will be downsizing to a two-bedroom apartment next year - such is the symbiosis of their partnership. Like any good relationship, there is a lot of give and take. For example, we all know Lachy’s adoration and love for his girlfriend, while we’re unsure if Gus has ever felt those emotions in his life. We know Gus can provide a healthy supply of beer, and we know Lachy can drink it all. We know Lachy can cross the line for a try, while Gus seems a bit more hesitant. We know Gus can bark orders, and we know Lachy can scream them. Despite the debate over the exact conception of the Oysters still raging, there is no doubt that these two are at the core both on and off the field. Consistently playing 80 minutes and never afraid to put their crustaceous shells on the line, these boys typify everything that an Oyster aspires to be, and we are proud to follow them into Finals battle this year.

Time to well and truly sweat off the Christmas ham you told yourself you were going ...to in January (last year), to postpone chasing that illusive sub-36 golf handicap, to stop telling Hinge dates about the ‘unprecedented form’ of yesteryear - and get to making a little history once again. And it all starts with the Mahi then the treats In anticipation of the next campaign, decorated veterans, crusty clubsmen and new oysters alike are invited down to Clovelly this Saturday morn for a bit of low-key touch footy and a swim.
