19.01.2022 DAY 2: Global Online Congress 23-24-25 October 2020 Our day began with another moving Welcome to Country by Aunty Kali, a Galibal Elder from Australia. Our focu...s today was on CHANGE - how can we achieve our vision? - change ideas that are focused on creating the "rapid, far-reaching and unprecedented changes in all aspects of society" (IPCC 2018), that are needed to reduce C02 levels to under 350ppm and keep temperatures under 1.5oC increase. Some of our CHANGE IDEAS include: * Youth representation and participation in all levels of decision making and government (including fostering their election to government). * Creating community kitchen & healing gardens run by local women, where food is grown for home & community and excess produce sold to give women some income. * Strengthening water resilience by rainwater harvesting and filtration. * Camps and learning programs to inform and empower youth and communities to be resilient and sustainable. * Working with Elders to bring First Nations wisdom to the fore. * Promoting alternatives to single use products such as plastic bags, cans of soft drink. So many precious moments shared including: * Mamadou Babacar Diop sharing stories from Senegal about his grandfather and the way he communicated with crocodiles. * Call to action from Kuntanawa Tribe Amazonia for us to come together to save the world's forests. * Sharing a beautiful song from Namibia with Mama Visolela. * Hearing stories of change for good from all over the world.

06.01.2022 Hi OzGREEN family! One of our YLTW Facilitators (Ali Thwaites) has been working recently with a group of other young Australians, and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), to set up the Australian Youth For International Climate Engagement Working Group. Here's some details about how you can be involved. Are you a youth/working with youth interested in the international climate agenda and think that there should be stronger representation of youth voices in what... the Australian government is doing in these spaces? Over the last few months our team, the Australian Youth for International Climate Engagement (AYFICE) Working Group in partnership with DFAT, has been hard at work building a bridge for the youth in Australia to engage with the Australian government and international climate discussions! We’ve just launched 2 things: 1. Australian Youth For International Climate Engagement Network This is a space for a diversity of Australian youth to come together to share opportunities and discussions relating to the international climate space. The Working Group will also use this space to let you know what’s happening and how to engage, as well as collecting your perspectives and concerns to help feed into the work we do. Anyone interested in the international climate space is welcome! If you want to be part of this, our FB link is here https://www.facebook.com/groups/ayfice/ Register your EOI to the network and mailing list here: https://forms.gle/pXmaGVDbAiNHrDus7 2. AFYICE Webinar: Promoting Collaboration for International Climate Ambition On the 3rd of Dec, 18:00-19:30AEDT, we are hosting an event to discuss how government and youth can work together in international climate spaces. It will involve: - Reflections on the key outcomes from the 2020 UN Climate Dialogues and related processes. - A briefing from Australian Ambassador for the Environment, Jamie Isbister, about the pathway to the 2021 UN Climate Conference and key opportunities for young Australians to engage. - An intergenerational panel discussion between government, youth advocates, and international representatives on How can youth and government work together in the multilateral space to achieve ambitious climate action? The panel will answer questions from our audience to explore the opportunities and challenges of collaborating in the multilateral climate space. Register for the event here: https://anu.zoom.us/webi/register/WN_0G2-TexlRZegZQ37qddssA You can find more information and announcements for the event on our FB Event link: https://www.facebook.com/events/3499433093456695 We hope to see you at our event and in our Network soon!
