23.01.2022 Yesterday I said goodbye to Bryon Bay, beginning earlier than expected as I trek towards Coffs, resting for 2 nights here in Ballina. Reaching a distance so far of precisely 99km, (according to Google ) tomorrow morning I will depart for full a week ahead. Finally cooking the bags of oats!!
22.01.2022 Moruya Heads With less than 200km of the NSW Coast to go, I was stoked to spend the weekend at one of my favourite spots as I continue to head South. Today I head for Narooma!
22.01.2022 This week I was able to speak to the The RiotACT about how the journey is going and where it's headed. https://the-riotact.com/queanbeyan-mans-hike-for-hu/443082
17.01.2022 The truth is, without the kindness of others such as strangers, friends and family, I wouldn't have made it this far. This ice cream bought for me by a Trail Runner and was the pick up I needed walking from Moruya Heads to Narooma.
16.01.2022 From park benches, bus stops, homes, hostels and not forgetting my faithful tent, it's safe to say I’ve slept in awkward spots. However my most memorable ‘bed’ was on Wednesday night under a tree on a towel at 230am, beside a highway pass Eden. Just close your eyes and hope for the best is the trick to a good night sleep in the middle of nowhere.
16.01.2022 Yesterday became the longest day so far. Finishing up 20hours later, having had to find shelter and rest because of the heat. However with the encouragement from a sweet family and their dog Wilson, I was able to continue on the to complete the 54km hike to Harwood. Staying overnight here tomorrow the trek to Coffs Harbour continues.
15.01.2022 Also, this week I was able to share with the Numbacca Guardian. https://www.nambuccaguardian.com.au//some-nambucca-hospi/ That said, thank you to those who have opened their homes and those who have shown me kindness along the road, not forgetting those who've donated to OzHarvest!! ... These simple acts go along way in accomplishing the campaign!!
14.01.2022 UPDATE After three months trekking down the NSW Coast from QLD to Vic, I've found myself back in Canberra as the Hike For Hunger Campaign takes a new route! Keeping it much closer to home this winter, I will aim to walk around the ACT border. Following the Mountain Ranges that wrap around CBR, it's an adventure that I look forward it! ... While I'm home, I hope to continue the conversation about food wastage with OzHarvest, as it is the heart of the whole Campaign! Stay tuned!
14.01.2022 Finally passing the 100km mark!! I settle tonight at a Park in Woodburn across the road from the ’Rod n Real’ pub. Sleeping on a bench overlooking the Richmond River, tomorrow the trek to Coffs Harbour continues!!
13.01.2022 Eden I was able to tick a box yesterday, by catching a South Coast sunrise. Call it bias, but after seeing Sunrises from Tweed Heads to Eden, I'm pretty confident in saying the South Coast has still got it.
10.01.2022 I think the Navy Seals will be my next calling as I've my adventure has added obstacles and then some! From swimming across inlets, bush bashing to avoid highways, running away from storms, going to the toilet in the most awkward spots, following the railroad and getting lost in a State Park. However, what is an adventure without adversity? ... Arriving last night in Kempsey on the Mid-North Coast, here I'll rest and ready myself till Sunday for the trek further south.
04.01.2022 Well passing the 250km mark, I say goodbye to Coffs Harbour after sheltering here over the weekend for some much-needed rest! The places I've seen and the people I've met so far, add so much more to the trip! I will start my journey towards Kempsey today hopefully arriving by Wednesday!
