11.01.2022 I am excited to play a part in the Botanica Festival through a collaboration with visual artist @georgiahillas where various macrame artists create a design hung from a netball hoop. My hoop, along with hoops by other artists, will be lit up, splashed with neon paint and hung in Brisbane's Botanical Gardens where people will be able to admire our work AND shoot some hoops. What is taking shape in my piece as pictured, is a reflection on my life as a young girl who had an absolute passion for netball. With no netball ring available in my back yard, I used to practice shooting goals through intersecting branches on a tree dodging other branches and leaves. It was quite apt therefore that I be invited to contribute to this contemporary art installation. PS I did become a damn good goal shooter.
