20.01.2022 #ThrowbackThursday // A behind the scenes look at the Zero Automotive ZED70 Ti's first visit underground at Carrapateena's Tjati Decline earlier this year. In what was an Australian first, the ZED70 Ti managed to do more than four complete trips from the top to bottom of the mine and back in a single shift without needing a plug-in charge!

This scanner is a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) that will provide data to unlock future ore sorting opportunities via data science. : Williams Metal Fabrications

19.01.2022 We are excited to be trialling this smart headset in collaboration with Telstra Mining Services to look at wearable technologies for mining. Through the trials, we hope to enable a remote expert to see through the eyes of the wearer and communicate directly with them via audio and video to offer assistance and collaboration. The trial will also explore other capabilities for wearable technology, hands free voice driven operations and the connected worker!

18.01.2022 Last month, Sam Hedditch and Kelsea Kurtzer organised a virtual mining tour of Prominent Hill for the Principal and senior students of Coober Pedy Area School. It was great to speak with so many interested students and were glad to see that many are already asking about the different professions in our teams and what it takes to pursue a tertiary pathway forward. Big thanks to Sam, Kelsea and the Prominent Hill team for taking the time and effort to share about their roles and their journey of working with OZ Minerals!

16.01.2022 Hows this for a tale? Our Prominent Hill team recently assisted in the rescue of an unwell wedge-tailed eagle - a female named Edwina - on site. Edwina is currently being nursed back to health at the local Fauna Rescue operator, Josephines Gallery & Kangaroo Orphanage in Coober Pedy. She will soon be transported to a licensed Raptor carer in Adelaide, who will provide her with a permanent home in a large aviary sanctuary!

15.01.2022 Did you know that the word crow is known as "Garnga" in Kokatha language? These crows are regularly spotted near our Carrapateena site, of which the Kokatha people are traditional owners.

14.01.2022 Our people regularly attend Cross Cultural Awareness training with our Traditional Owners, to learn more about Aboriginal culture, beliefs, connection to the land and areas of cultural significance.

As part of this commitment, our Emergency Response Teams (ERTs) undertake regular training sessions on site. The image below was captured recently at Carrapateena, were our ERTs were completing a weekend training session specifically focused on rope rescue procedures.

Students and teachers recently joined us for a virtual unveiling of their project now on display! Each of the panels illustrate a unique period of Coober Pedys history from the prehistoric, Indigenous, early contact and modern contexts. 01.01.2022 SPOTTED at our Prominent Hill site, Ranoidea platycephala, also known as the water-holding frog. Common to most Australian states, they can live for five years without drinking and are known to burrow to depths of up to 1 meter to keep cool during periods of hot, dry weather. 01.01.2022 Registered during the systemic wildlife monitoring work developed by our Environment team in 2019, one of the most commonly spotted native wildlife at our Antas and Pedra Branca, Brazil operations is the Hoatzin (Opisthocomus hoazin). This impressive snap was captured near our Pedra Branca site.

01.01.2022 #picoftheweek // Ixora coccinea, known as jungle geranium or flame of the forest, is a shrub in the Rubiaceae native to Eastern India. Introduced to Brazil in the beginning of the 19th century, it has quickly become a popular ornamental and is often found growing around our Antas and Pedra Branca operations.
