25.01.2022 Sweatin' it out in Western Qld (39+ degrees ) checking out some Silo art along the way back to SA....#hotdays #Thallonsilos #Yelarbonsilos #westernqld

24.01.2022 Weekends in the Valley.....highly recommend Magpie & Stump Hotel in Historic Mintaro. The Stump Burger with Pikes Pinot Grigio was a hit! #magpieandstumphotel #pikeswines

24.01.2022 Crossed another border into NSW (enemy territory....yes I mean State of Origin)....detoured a bit, away from those awful Highways! In Lockhart I loved the shop fronts especially, the old style leadlight which they've kept in good shape. We once went to a Tractor Pull in Lockhart! That's something to tell the world about! I had read a bit about [ 240 more words ] http://ontheroadphotos.com.au/2019/06/10/museums-murals-mud/

22.01.2022 Word of mouth can be a good thing, especially when it comes to food. Heard about a good pie shop in Dunedoo, NSW called Dinky Di Dogs Eyes (the name in itself was worth the visit!) Well, they were pretty good on a cold winters day. Then B had to make it even better by getting dessert at another pie shop nearby. 21.01.2022 Just realised it's been ages since my last blog after arriving back on Da Block. Been very busy (will explain next blog). I've started to compile a few pics of places we've been in our new adopted state of SA. On our way home our last overnight stop was Manna Hill Rest Area. Donation with toilets available next to the pub. [ 124 more words ] http://ontheroadphotos.com.au//sa-places-of-interest-mann/

21.01.2022 Recently Clare (SA) has had two new Cafe's open in Main North Road. After visiting both I think Clare is lucky to have both of them! Café 1871 - Cafe 1871 is a light, airy and open café with a servery on one side for quick orders and sit down inside. I thought my Savoury muffin & coffee was nice (warmed up would have been good) & one of the staff asked how my coffee was. Nice touch! Daily Grind Coffee on Main - Daily Grind coffee on main Is a bit daunting walking in, black d...écor with New York/USA images, dark. Coffee & warmed Bagel (won't have again) as this substituted for their Special (ran out). Had to wait to order (staff talking) but would be ok for takeaway coffees. Good luck to both of them!

19.01.2022 In this time of uncertainty and anxiety, maybe we need to enjoy the small stuff and live life for today?! #livelifenow So I am trying to learn how to bake , grow pumpkins from my compost bin (of course I did that on purpose ), hubby cuts wood ready for chilly autumn nights and enjoy a sunset with a beverage overlooking content sheep in the paddock (who don't care about viruses) Stay home, stay safe and #slowthespread

18.01.2022 After a hard day of sleeping, walking, playing rope, head butting pet lamb, rolling in excrement from said lamb and generally doing nothing on Da Block, my humans like to drink this! (Blatant promo for a noice beer) #blueybeer #leavemealone #toastyinfrontoffire

18.01.2022 Before fires & winds plagued the south east of Queensland, we took a day trip to my hometown of Redcliffe (north of Brisbane). Wow! It has really changed. Finally the train line has reached Redcliffe (my Mother would have been so happy as she fought for this with Councillors for years)! One thing I wasn't that happy about was the lack of Dog Friendly Beaches. Drove over half way round the Peninsula before we could find a beach for Jeda to have a swim and roll in the sand! Sad to say it, but I don't like all the high rises along the waterfronts. But I guess that's 'Progress'? In life, nothing stays the same. :(

17.01.2022 Just thought I'd mention the Kingston-SE RV Park; as far as I know it may be the only RV park in SA with a ticket machine. For $10 you can camp for $10. Toilets are close, the town a short walk, the jetty straight out in front, dump point front of park & potable water nearby, no power. Whilst we were held up in Naracoorte, we did a few day trips. 17.01.2022 Just a few pics of what's been happening on Da Block here in the Clare Valley! Temperatures aren't too bad, cooler nights and warm days....the BEST time to visit the Valley!!! Don't ask me what I've been doing, but VERY VERY BUSY!!! http://ontheroadphotos.com.au//beginnings-of-autumn-on-da/

16.01.2022 This will be my final post on my Facebook page. Thank you to those that have followed me. My website will continue (www.ontheroadphotos.com.au). We had a great Easter weekend with good friends visiting Da Block. The weather was a bit average, but we managed to slip in some wine tasting & lunches! ... Must recommend #Stonebridge Wines & their pizzas.....especially their dessert pizzas!!! Shortly we'll be 'on the road again' so I'll be posting our travels on my website. Cheers.....Sue, B & Jeda (our Bluey)

16.01.2022 Giggle moment on Da Block! Giving the sheep and Alpacas a small snack when it became a 'sheep fight' Manu quickly sorted it..... Moral: never get between an Alpaca and his food!

14.01.2022 After morning milk Hey-Ewe was happy to pose for a photo.....but then those Alpacas had to Photo Bomb her shoot!!

14.01.2022 We decided to attend the Tara Festival of Culture & Camel Races held 2-4th August at Tara, in the western downs 300klms west of Brisbane. The lineup to get in was a bit 'average' - 1 1/2 hrs but we kind of expected it as it was the first day of entry for camping. 5 days of camping @ $6 per day - good deal. 14.01.2022 Wow! Its been so long since I posted here! Busy busy!! Thought I'd post a few pics from the last month to try and take my mind off the continuing sadness around the country at the moment. Every over 40 degree day I sit on the CFS app checking where the fires are, it's becoming a bad habit. Stay safe every one every state

13.01.2022 Enjoying the warmth of the Sunshine State and notice the blooms starting around us...bring on Spring!!

13.01.2022 Well the 'C' virus has changed our lives dramatically; made us think twice about where we go outside our home, what we touch, who's touched it before us, how will I stay safe? A lot of businesses are thinking outside the box finding ways to keep afloat. Will our lives be better for this? I think so. Once we ALL understand the importance of [ 136 more words ] http://ontheroadphotos.com.au//05/self-isolating-on-da-bl/

13.01.2022 Quiet days on Da Block. Autumn is bringing some rain, some flowers and more wildlife!

12.01.2022 Dodging wet weather seems to be our main pastime these days. On the sunny days we attempt to do some sight seeing around the Hinterland of Port Macquarie & township. On a drive up to North Brother Mountain, Dooragan National Park near Laurieton we were lucky enough to encounter paragliders (hope I have the term correct?) What a view! Glad it wasn't me jumping off this mountain! [ 350 more words ] http://ontheroadphotos.com.au//motorcycles-koalas-vineyar/

12.01.2022 With the change of seasons it would be a brilliant time to 'hit the road' and travel beautiful South Australia! Well, you'd think that but we haven't! Too busy on Da Block! My travel blogs are much more fun to write than these Block blogs, but as it's life atm ..... boring as bat poop for some - hang in there hopefully we will be 'on the road' again in the future! 11.01.2022 Morning chats with Hey-Ewe. She is growing day by day. Then her two Body Guards photo bombed our shoot!!

10.01.2022 Well, I had a change of heart as to posting on this Facebook site! We will be 'on the road again' soon - look out for posts from my website... www.ontheroadphotos.com.au

10.01.2022 Long time between outings here in the Valley! Recently we were able to 'eat out' whilst socially distancing. I was soooooo happy! Had breaky @ The Smelter in Wallaroo that was yum (plus the only place open!) And a beautiful sunny Sunday @ Simpson Rice Creek in Auburn for lunch. Sitting in the sun after a lovely meal and a tipple , the mini golf was replaced by dessert! As ya do!! Yes, winter is cold here but a lot of the days are just lovely, so visiting local businesses for a wine tasting or meal is a small way we can show our support. Keep up the good work SA!!

08.01.2022 Well, winter has hit with a vengeance! Normally we'd be sunning ourselves in a warm climate now, but not this year Making the most of time here though. Enjoyed watching the changing of the seasons around the district. The colours of the trees were beautiful and the crisp clean air in the mornings make up for the cold wet soggy days. 07.01.2022 Since being back in SA I have managed to check out a few Town Garage sales in the district. Not only is it a good way to find bits n pieces for our block, but a chance to see what these small towns have to offer. The Watervale General Store is a cool place to eat as well as check out their retro collection & décor. [ 204 more words ] http://ontheroadphotos.com.au//owen-watervale-wirrabara-r/

05.01.2022 Took a day drive north today to Wirrabara Producers Market. (about 1.45hrs north of Clare) Worth the drive Good produce & handmade items. Beaut painted silo there too. And the Progress Assoc did great BBQ breakys. Back road down to Redhill Riverbank Market (bit quiet) but had hand crafted wine barrel furniture (@colescountrycraftsaustralia) and some ingenius iron work art. On the way out we came upon someones front yard that's a testament to 'collectors everywhere'!!!... About time we explored a bit more of our new 'home' state

05.01.2022 Well, this time a couple of weeks ago we probably all thought this 'C' virus would blow over. Sadly not. Now life will change and we need to change with it. Yet life on Da Block is the same. Luckily we live on acreage so 'personal space' is not a problem. Jeda and I keep things rolling along with small projects, gardening & too many ideas in my head! 05.01.2022 After the very disappointing result of Game 3 of 'you know what'....(I can't even manage to type the words!! ) we had a day in Wauchope (west of Port Macquarie) and relived our previous stay and the changes happening in this little town, then we ventured further north chasing the sun. Stopped overnight at the lovely town of Macksville [ 276 more words ] http://ontheroadphotos.com.au///big-rivers-big-blue-skies/

04.01.2022 Last weekend I witnessed the fine art of shearing alpacas! I thought it was just as interesting as sheep shearing, although danger money should be included....they spit, they kick and they are way bigger than sheep!! The two boys agisted here and two others were penned and pampered! The mobile alpaca shearer brings their table and equipment and sets up, and the boys are secured on the table whilst being shorn. [ 92 more words ] http://ontheroadphotos.com.au/2020//06/alpaca-shearing-101/

04.01.2022 Tara Camel Festival (Qld) for the weekend...dog highly stressed racing camels arriving, portaloos ready for action thousands of vans & campers

04.01.2022 From 'On the Road' to 'On da Block'! Back to SA & head down, butt up doing a cleanup of Da Block. Water tanks full, grass long, weeds even longer!! But after some full on days we have it under control. The green is starting to tinge brown now coming into Summer. We've had hot days already, total fire ban days, then back to the temperatures I prefer....and on goes the fireplace!! [ 46 more words ] http://ontheroadphotos.com.au//home-among-the-gumtrees-lo/

04.01.2022 If anyone interested in the Painted Silos, I have put up some pics of the silos we visited in VIC & one in NSW...so far. https://ontheroadphotos.com.au/fun-stuff/painted-silos/

03.01.2022 Across the border to Victoria pushed by an Arctic wind all the way! Rain or shine we decided we'd follow the Silo Trail. Must mention the town of Minyip where we stopped overnight. No silo art but it was the setting for "The Flying Doctors" TV series. It was converted to "Coopers Crossing". The garage is still there, now a cafe along with the petrol bowsers & sign. 03.01.2022 After a long stay in Queensland visiting friends, relatives and generally 'warming up' it's time to head homewards (SA). Looking on our map there aren't too many untravelled roads which makes it tough to find a new road to explore. So after a few days on familiar roads heading out of Brisbane passing through small towns Cecil Plains, Millmerran, Inglewood, Goondiwindi (and finding the bumpiest roads we'd been on in a while) we ended up in Thallon, south west Qld. 03.01.2022 Spent a couple of days in the Barossa Valley (SA) sampling the local vino, brews & market produce.

02.01.2022 Speaking of Social Media....I've decided to take a 'break' from Facebook & Instagram ....going cold turkey! Many reasons. Will check in now & then, but finding it takes up WAY too much time, which could be better used....in front of a campfire for instance! Will eventually close this Facebook page, but will continue my web page for a while longer. www.ontheroadphotos.com.au

02.01.2022 I don't normally recommend caravan parks but we did stop in one on our quick trip up near Mackay, in from Ilbilbie about an hour south (Google it! ) that we thought was impressive. Cape Palmerston Holiday Park. We spent over a week there with the intention of seeing if our Tinnie still floated and our fishing rods could catch anything! 01.01.2022 As we all know, COVID19 has restricted us all to one degree or another. Even in the country. So lots of time to do stuff on Da Block. The fireplace is a constant companion! The agisted sheep are birthing. My Avocado Farm on the windowsill is growing! And the 'live or die garden' is still hanging in during the frosts.
