14.01.2022 The US Space Force Will Develop a Surveillance Telescope in Australia. It is designed to monitor and spot satellites and debris for over 22,000 miles above Earth. It is also anticipated to begin its operation by 2022. The telescope will be operated by the RAAF (the Royal Australian Air Force) and the USSF (the United States Space Force). Washington was able to sign an agreement with Canberra to base the surveillance telescope in Australia. The recent US space project is not the first one developed in Australia. Currently, there is Pine Gap, a command surveillance base 18 KM southwest of Alice Springs. There’s also a site in Darwin utilised by the US Marine Air-Ground Task Force. 13.01.2022 At the Security & Government Expo in Canberra, ASIO T4 head was asked When it comes to government security threats, what’s worrying you most at the moment? Answer: It’s the cloud-based technology it seems an unnecessary requirement to merge devices with Bluetooth with Wi-Fi or any other sort of communication. We’ve seen communication move away from traditional paths and we are now starting to lose sight of where data is going that’s the bit that scares us most. www.sectechroadshow.com.au

12.01.2022 Thermal body temperature cameras are proving central to the battle against the COVID-19 epidemic, with government, commercial and industrial end-users eager to implement BTM technology in order to detect elevated body temperatures that indicate fever. BTM cameras provide a rapid, non-invasive way to measure temperature that does not slow flow of foot traffic.

01.01.2022 Authorities impose new safety standards on quad bikes. The new standards will require new quads to be fitted with rollover devices and meet minimum stability requirements in a bid to reduce on-farm deaths and serious injuries. Three major overseas manufacturers - Honda, Polaris and Yamaha - have announced they will pull out of the local market when new safety standards are introduced in October next year. July 2020 A 12-year-old boy has died after a quad bike crash north of Alice Springs. The boy was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Emergency services were contacted by a family member who located the boy unresponsive and some distance from a quad bike he had been riding earlier.
