24.01.2022 COVID-19 IMPACT ON 2020 WINTER SEASON To Organizers of Prospective 2020 WINTER Teams:... Given the uncertainties raised by COVID-19, at this time, Warehouse Cricket is facing the challenge of a either a significantly shortened Winter Season or the prospect of no Winter Season at all. As such, Warehouse Cricket accepts that the Winter Season will be significantly delayed and advises the following: 1. Registration of Teams are NOT required at this time. 2. Warehouse Cricket will liaise with those teams which have registered to date and will make arrangements for fees already paid. 3. JUNIOR TEAMS: Clubs/Team Organizers are asked to continue to accept and record expressions of interest from prospective players. Qld Cricket will provide an Expression of Interest facility on MyCricket that allows a Junior Player to indicate they want to play, but no money will be required. (Andrew Keyte of Qld Cricket will be in contact with clubs in the near future.) 4. SENIOR TEAMS: Clubs/Team Organizers are asked to continue to accept and record expressions of interest from prospective players in preparation for play, but DO NOT submit Team Registration Forms. 5. Note: It is not possible at this time to indicate costs for a season format that is known at this time. Summary: Warehouse Cricket will review the prevailing Government/medical expert advice over the next few weeks in order to update Clubs on prospects or the format of play this winter season. We are all in this together and together we will all get through the challenge that is Covid-19. 19.01.2022 OZSRIO BATTING TIPS 1, KEEPING A STRONG BALANCE Maintaining a balanced position is imperative in achieving control even before the ball has been released. The way you distribute your weight on the crease can greatly affect your stance and overall form, so make sure you are comfortable and ready for anything the bowler can throw at you.... 2. BAT LIFT Lift your bat to your back shoulder with a strong top hand grip to achieve a powerful and controlled shot. Keeping the bat straight will aid a comfortable follow through, as well as allowing for an easy defensive shot if required. 3. BEING STANCE READY Timing is everything. Having your stance ready to start playing your shot will be to your advantage and can determine how accurately you hit the ball. Left too late many struggles to get the bat in the ideal spot for an effective response. Quick footwork will help with this skill. 4. QUICK DECISION MAKING One of the most difficult things to grasp in batting is deciding what shot to play in a quick and decisive manner. This can be done by watching the ball closely as its released from the bowlers hand and gradually learning where it will end up, so you can start to play the appropriate shot quicker. 5. TRUST YOUR JUDGEMENT Making your decision early whether to play forward, back or from the crease allows more time to execute and control the ball, especially when facing spin bowlers. Trusting your decision is important in following through instead of second-guessing yourself and being unprepared for the ball. 6. FOLLOW THE BALL Remember to follow the ball all the way onto the bat. Avoid looking up where the ball is going too early, as this can cause you to edge the ball. 7. CONTROLLING YOUR SHOT Keep your head and elbow above the ball and your bat square to direct your shots in front of your person, minimizing the chance of being caught out.
