OFFSHORE With the weather easing from Monday to Thursday this week the offshore fishing has been all right with a solid yellow fin tuna bite off Kiama in about 500 fathoms. The charter boat aquila has been fishing in 60mtrs just south of Belambi and reports catches of pan size snapper, mowies and pig fish. Chicken Pete did an afternoon snapper fish starting in 18mtr and finally finding them in 45mtrs off the coal ...cliff bridge and went home with eight snappers to 45cm all on squid strips. Daniel stares and crew fished in 50mtrs from Stanwell park south to the Coal cliff bridge for a great catch of snapper to 2 and a half k mowies and few leatherjackets using squid, prawns and pilies. BOTANY BAY - GEORGES RIVER Silver beach and the middle ground have been producing whiting to 40cm with worms a must. King to 85cm and salmon have been providing some great action for land based fisho’s off the break at the mouth of the cook’s river on squid strips, ganged pilies and 4 to 6inch plastics. There are still good numbers of big trevally in the bay with peeled Hawkesbury prawns the best bait. At the third runway green eye squid has been working on mulloway to 95cm while mullet strips and prawns are working for flathead and big bream in the same spot. The river has been quite but anchoring up and getting a Burney trail happening should produce bream, Tarwine and trevally around Tom Uglys and Taren Point bridges, this method should also work around the bridges in the parramatta river. Kyak fisho’s have been doing well on Flathead to 46cm and bream to 35cm on Cranka crabs and z man plastics up the top end of the parramatta river. AROUND & ABOUT - PORT HACKING In the deeper water around Lilly Pilly snapper to 40cm have been taken on squid and barfish cubes. HAWKESBURY RIVER There has been few hairtail coming from Juno point. Bobby Dean was plagued by chopper Taylor while fishing for hairtail in Jerusalem bay, but he did manage a couple and one 43cm whiting on a set of 5/0 gang hooks and a whole pile. SYDNEY HARBOUR The overseas passenger terminal is still yielding bag limits of leatherjackets using peeled Hawkesbury prawns and beach worms.

15.01.2022 Here is your Friday Fishing Report by Ray! With the weather we’ve had this week it should pay to fish a bit deeper than you normally would and use smelly baits such as mullet gut, and marinated baits. SYDNEY HARBOUR... Drifting with ZMAN 5 Jerk Shads and 4 Paddlerz early morning has been producing good numbers of legal mulloway around Ryde Bridge. Gladesville bridge has been fishing well late afternoon and into the evening with live Yellow Tail amd strips of green eye squid working on mulloway to 90cm. In the same area mixed bags of Bream and Flathead on Prawns, Pillies, and marinated chicken. Staying with the bridge, land based fishos have been catching bag limits of Bream to 32cm on Nippers and Prawns around the Iron Cove Bridge. BOTANY BAY-GEORGES RIVER Land based fishos have had a good run on Flathead around Kyeemagh on soft plastics and bait. Seems most of our Rivers and Salt Water lakes are yielding good flathead not in big numbers but in good size from 70cm to high 90cm. When they have been able to get out Tailer and Bream have ben on offer for Kyak Fishos on metal slicers, Jackall Chubbies Deep and soft plastics. The southern end of Captain Cook Bridge has Bream, Trevally, and Mulloway to 80cm on Prawns, Works, and squid. From Early to mid morning in the same area squid has been producing Mulloway to 115cm during slack water of a night. We’re still getting reports of mud crabs coming from Oatley, Como and Picnic Point. Worms and prawns have been working on Bream and Whiting just up stream of the red post outside Oatley Bay. FRESHWATER Kangaroo Valley is starting to fire up with Bass taking Buzz Baits, Surface Lures and Works. Further south around the Five Islands off Wollongong, pan sized Snapper and some big Mowies have been on offer. Earlier in the week, Bobby from the Charter Boat Aquilla fished in 60m from Belambi South to Wollongong and caught pan size Snapper, Mowies and a couple of Pig Fish. Bobby said the fishing was hard and put a lot of it down to the water being cold and black. BOTANY BAY GEORGES RIVER Prawns and Pilies have been accounting for good catches of Salmon and Trevally near the foreshore drive boat ramp. The mouth of the Cooks River has Kings on offer for land based Fisho’s using whole and big strips of Squid. Whitebait, Pilies and darker coloured Plastics have been working well on Flathead at the front of Woolooware Bay. Drifting between Captain Cook and Tom Uglys Bridges has produced some good Flathead to 80cm. Fishing around the Bridges themselves has also seen good bags of Bream caught on Prawns and marinated Chicken. Black Wall is rewarding land based fisho’s with good bags of Bream, Flathead and a few Mulloway to 88cm. Around the moored boats at Picnic Point and between Como Marina and Oatley Bay are both fishing well for good Bream on Prawns, Worms and marinated Chicken. Alfreds Point has good bags of Whiting to 41cm with Worms the only bait to use. WORONORA RIVER Bread has been working a treat on Mullet for land based fisho’s around the foot bridge. On the down stream side of the old road bridge good Bream and Estuary Perch have been providing some great action on light tackle. PORT HACKING Kings have made a showing behind E.T’s and around the moored boats at Lilly Pilly with Squid the best bait. The wharf at Yowie Bay Ramp has had good bags of Bream on offer of a night on Prawns, Worms and marinated Chicken. Near the sailing club at the front of Yowie Bay, one of our customers caught eight Snapper to 38cm using half Pilie baits. Fishing close to the net at Gymea Baths has Leatherjackets on peeled Prawns. There’s also Squid and Kings in the same area. SYDNEY HARBOUR Cut Pilchard baits have been working on legal Snapper, Bream and Tarwine of a night in Rosebay. Mary’s Reef and just south of Jibbon Bombie are a couple of spots worth a shop for pan size Snapper and good Bream using prawns, Squid and cubes of Garfish. Although there not in big numbers yellow fin Tuna to 60kg plus have been taken off the back of the southern canyons. When the weather permits there is still ganged Pilies and metal slices. Please remember, there is no fish worth not going home for. BOTANY BAY - GEORGES RIVER The oil wharf and the sticks are fishing well for Trevally on peeled Prawns with Berley a must. Off the third runway and land based on kyeemagh boat ramp to the mouth of the cook’s river both have Trevally, Bream and School Mulloway on offer using Prawns, Squid and Butterflied Yellow tail. Once gain do not forget the Berley. Molineux point has been living up to its reputation as trevally alley with big trevally in on shortage on peeled Hawkesbury prawns. Prawns, Kings and Tube Worms have been working for bream and whiting from the middle grounds of a night. Around Woolooware bay and Towra, would be worth a shot for blue swimmer crabs. Taren point and tom Uglys bridges also have bream, trevally and school mulloway on offer for land based and boat fisho’s. The mouth of the Woronora has whiting around 37cm on worms, there not in big numbers but they are a good solid fish. Drifting the edges of the sand banks on the northern side of the river just down stream from Como bridge is producing flathead to 48cm and school mulloway using whiting bait and Squid. PORT HACKING There is still some good Flathead to be had drifting the shallower drop offs on the southern side of Lilly Pilly channel on bait and lures. Marinated chicken is producing great bags of bream fishing around pontoons and rocky shorelines of a night. Whiting fishing has been a bit slow, but we have had reports of a few around 32cm near grays point boat ramp. Lilly Pilly baths and the top end of Gunnamatta bay both have squid on offer with the better ones coming from Gunnamatta Bay.
