25.01.2022 Temporary Sponsored Parent Visa - Bill not passed The Department originally announced that the new five year Temporary Sponsored Parent Visa would be introduced at around this time. However, the Bill enabling the new visa to come into effect has not yet been approved by the Senate.

Applicants applying for a Skilled Australian Visa must obtain a minimum of 65 points to apply from 1 July 2018. This legislative change impacts all applicants on 60 points who have not yet received an invitation to apply for a skilled visa. 14.01.2022 New skilled regional provisional visas to commence in November 2019. - Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) visa: for people sponsored by an employer in regional Australia. This visa is expected to have almost 700 eligible occupations. - Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa: for people who are nominated by a State or Territory government or sponsored by an eligible family member to live and work in regional Australia. This visa is expected to have approximate...ly 500 eligible occupations. These new visa will be granted for a period of up to 5 years. Migrants will be required to live and work in a regional area of Australia for at least three years before they are eligible to apply for permanent residence. The definition of ‘Regional Australia’ for all skilled visas will be simplified and expanded to include all of Australia except for the following metropolitan areas: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast and Perth. 07.01.2022 Did you know, that any Australian visa can be refused if the Department tracks any fraudulent documents submitted in relation to previous visa applications in the previous 10 years? The amendments to visa ban legislations were added in November 2017. 12-months ban was changed to 10 years in relation to all the applications lodged as well as all visas previously granted.

07.01.2022 Strengthening the Requirements for Australian Citizenship Bill failed last week. The Turnbull Government was unable to get its proposed citizenship reforms through the Senate. But as Immigration Minister Peter Dutton said that he was committed to strengthening the integrity of the citizenship program and would continue to work with the cross-bench. While the proposed legislation was hanging fire, the number of citizenship applications awaiting processing has jumped from 81,000 on 27 June 2017 to nearly 120,000 on 15 October. The government hasn't commented on the backlog of applications caused by the freeze on processing since April.
