23.01.2022 When I was a young bloke in the 1990's ringing (chasing cattle on horses) on stations in Northern WA, dingoes were rarely seen, and they were revered by most bu...shies I worked with. The odd exception existed though, often some bitter, twisted, poor soul, racist to the bone and who most probably needed an outlet for their hatred, narrowed this loathing for indigenous culture onto the back of the magnificent dingo. There were still dingo trappers working the beat, and even they held the dingo in high regard, commenting on the amazing intelligence shown by dingoes, and the difficulties trappers faced trying to fool them. Most current station owners and blow-thru managers were still chasing each other around the footy change-rooms flicking each others bums with their towels when I was throwing bulls from horseback, and unfortunately they failed to listen and catch on about their requirements to protect the land and our eco-systems. Instead many took notice only of the Government and their mates in the poison manufacturing industry. Many pastoralists now believe they are doing the right thing by attempting to annihilate our dingoes with the most horrid substance ever concocted by humankind. Now a problem that never existed in the first place, has (from hearsay alone) become a problem. If this is so.... and I bloody doubt it is, then they bought it upon themselves, and due to the contempt and ignorance they show to science can only result in the supposed problem becoming worse. The crucial point to remember is this: STABLE PACKS OF DINGOES REGULATE THEIR OWN NUMBERS BETTER THAN WHITE MAN EVER HAS WITH 1080 POISON. THE ALPHA FEMALE IF LEFT ALIVE WILL KILL ALL PUPS OTHER THAN HER OWN. So if you want dingoes to mind their own business like they used to... leave them alone SIMPLE REALLY See more

15.01.2022 When a 5,500-kilometre dingo fence was constructed between Queensland and Western Australia in the late 1800s and early 1900s, the idea was to stop dingoes from... killing livestock in the pastureland to the south. But by excluding an apex predator, scientists believe we may have triggered a "trophic cascade" that has changed the physical shape of the landscape. In research published in the Journal of the Royal Society Interface this week, scientists say the shape of sand dunes on the inside and the outside of the fence is markedly different. Trophic cascades occur when a top-order predator is removed from an ecosystem, resulting in a series of actions that end up remodelling the system as a whole. In this case, dingo numbers on the inside of the fence have been suppressed by state-sponsored culling programs that continue today. supplied: Peter Contos See more

04.01.2022 An estimated 7,000 to 8,000 tigers are being farmed today in China, their bones steeped in alcohol to make tiger bone wine, their meat sold, and their skins tur...ned into rugs for members of China’s wealthy elite. At least 8,000 tigers are estimated to be held across more than 200 tiger farms in East and Southeast Asia. That’s more than double the number of tigers left in the wild. Tiger farms are facilities that breed tigers for commercial sale or trade of tiger.
