11.01.2022 Written permission conditions changing from next week The general written permission conditions will change from next week, giving you more clarity around r...ules for State forest hunting. These are the standard conditions that apply to all State forest hunting. Some changes for pig doggers include: the ability to hunt at night with dogs whilst having a firearm or bows stored securely no longer required to have UHF radio when hunting at night can now hunt alone at night with dogs, no longer need to be part of a group. The conditions also now include information regarding the use of drones while hunting on public land. It is important that you familiarise yourself with the amended conditions before you head out to hunt. You must also read your written permission carefully for any specific conditions relating to the forest you have booked. You can read the full written permission conditions on our website www.dpi.nsw.gov.au//permission-conditions-hunting-in-nsw-s. Please note, written permission conditions published in the NSW Game Hunting Guide are now out of date.

11.01.2022 The Estimates of the 2019 deer harvest in Victoria shows that there were 5,190 licensed hound hunters in Victoria last year. It is estimated that about 46 per c...ent (2,361) of hound hunters actively hunted during 2019, and that an average of 10.5 deer were harvested per active hunter. About 57% of the deer harvested by hound hunters in 2019 were female. In 2018, the research approach was revised to improve the accuracy of estimating the harvest of Sambar Deer with hounds. The report shows an increase in both the number of licensed hound hunters and deer harvested from the previous survey. A special thank you to all hunters who participated in the research and for providing the GMA with important information about hound hunting trends in Victoria. 11.01.2022 Are your vehicle and dog details on your written permission correct? When booking a hunt, you are required provide the following information, which is recor...ded on your written permission: details of the vehicle you will be travelling in, including make, model, colour and registration number details of your hunting dogs, including breed, sex, colour and microchip number. If you encounter a hunting inspector while hunting, they’ll check to make sure the details you provided on your written permission are accurate. If these details change before or during your hunt, you must amend your permission with the new details and download an updated version. You can now easily amend vehicle and dog details your written permission, even after your hunt has commenced! To make these changes on your written permission: 1. Log on to Online Licence Holder Services Portal 2. Go to the second menu option: ‘Amend, reprint or cancel a booking’. 3. This will take you into written permission booking system where you need to follow the booking process steps until you get to the ‘Written permission details’ screen. 4. Follow the booking process like you would when you book a hunt until you get to the ‘Written permission details’ screen. 04.01.2022 On this day, 14th November 1939, the world's oldest dog on record, a Blue Heeler named 'Bluey', dies, aged 29 years. The Blue Heeler is a hardy breed of dog dev...eloped in Australia. Also known as the Australian Cattle dog, the Blue Heeler was developed by colonists in the 1800s by crossing Dingo-blue merle Collies to Dalmatians and black and tan Kelpies. This produced an excellent working dog, capable of driving large herds of cattle through the harsh conditions of the outback. According to Guinness World Records, the world's oldest known dog was a Blue Heeler, appropriately named "Bluey", owned by Les Hall of Rochester in the Australian state of Victoria. Born on 7 June 1910, Bluey died on 14 November 1939 at the age of twenty-nine years, five months, and seven days. Pictured: Bluey. Wikimedia.
