22.01.2022 Longer servicing With car manufactures pushing their service intervals to fifteen or twenty thousand kilometres, what is the end result to your engine? The answer is that the life of your engine is diminished. Over its time in the engine you oil cleans the combustion deposits and keeps it locked up in the oil till it passes thru you oil filter, which filters out the deposits and the oil circulates around again. The longer the oil is working in your engine the ability to cle...an your engine lessens and a thick residue starts building in the engines oil ways. Over time this will block the oil ways and cause major problems and even engine seizer. This can even happen whilst the vehicle is still under its new car warranty. The solution is to reduce the service intervals to ten or even seven and a half thousand intervals or to follow the manufactures severe service intervals. This reduces the time your oil is working in your engine and when its replaced it still has its cleaning ability. Leaving your engine cleaner and helping it last longer. I cant wait to share the rebuild with you. Stay tuned. P.c.

01.01.2022 What is Severe Driving Have you ever read through the car service manual and asked yourself the question, What are severe driving conditions? With 60% of cars falling into the severe service category, only 6% of those drivers realize it. The normal conditions classification used by car manufacturers is usually defined as mostly long highway trips in coolish temperatures, (ie. Burnie to Launceston every day) whereas most vehicles fall into the severe category which can ...be defined as frequent trips of less than 16 kilometers, (ie. from Acton or Romaine to the center of Burnie and back every day), frequent idling for long periods of time such as stop and go driving in heavy traffic, hot weather highway driving, carrying heavy loads and towing, prolonged operation at low temperatures and the most important one for Tasmania, driving on steep hills and mountains on a regular basis. With severe conditions the additive package in your engines oil breaks down long before your oil loses viscosity, so the oil loses the ability to remove moisture and carbon deposits from the internal surfaces of the engine. The carbon saturates the oil which then passes through the filter, prematurely blocking it, causing the bypass valve to open letting unfiltered oil circulate through the engine. My apologies, I digress. In the manufacturers maintenance schedules, they have 2 timeframes for servicing, having the normal services at 10,000 kilometers or 12 months, they then generally reduce the severe service intervals by half and increase the change frequency for certain parts, such as air and fuel filters, spark plugs etc. By making this subtle change in servicing, engines should last longer and give you trouble free motoring. Happy driving Paul Watch this space Summer is just around the corner, what effect can it have on your car?
