25.01.2022 Pacan Landsborough passed his vet inspection today for The Grey Advantage sale in Roma on September 19th. Youngest bull in the sale, but well worth a look; you'll find him as Lot 15.

24.01.2022 We have a quality young cow for sale, Pacan Karalee PAC K13 with her first (heifer) calf at foot Pacan Nightflower PAC N19, by Pacan Landsborough. Karalee is a large-framed, very friendly female (weighed 690 kg on 18 June), with her whole breeding life in front of her. Price is $2500 (no GST), and delivery may be available depending on distance.

23.01.2022 I had a post on 8 July last year about the sale of Pacan Lyndhurst to the Crawford family at Kumbia. We knew that he would be well looked after, but I think he may have received blue ribbon five star service the whole time!

23.01.2022 It's always rewarding to be able to offer quality cattle for sale, whether it's through the yards commercially, by private sale or through a seedstock auction sale such as The Grey Advantage sale at Roma saleyards on September 19. We have only one entry, Pacan Landsborough (the youngest bull in the sale, but showing enormous potential as a herd or stud sire).

22.01.2022 Pacan Lyndhurst is for sale. Details as follows : Pacan Lyndhurst PAC L4 (Arki ET x Pacan Favourite) born 25-11-2015. He was weighed on 17-04-17 at 594 kg, Frame score 6. Sire was Senior Champion in Brisbane in 2011; you can see the photos of his dam on this page. Lyndhurst has good feet and legs, good temperament, and excellent testicular development. He has been vaccinated with 3-germ and 7-in-1 (we are in ticky country at Mt Kilcoy). The price is $4000 (no GST) and we can deliver within reasonable distance. Phone or email if you are interested. Bull sold - see later post.

21.01.2022 I finally managed to catch up with Pacan Favourite this afternoon, having ridden and waded through Setaria pasture up to my armpits, to find her calf. Turns out she's done it again, and has had twin bull calves, one grey, one silver. The grey calf would be a big calf if it was a single birth, and the silver fellow is a fair bit smaller, but both are healthy and active. Favourite has now calved four times, and has produced six bull calves - time for a heifer, old girl!

21.01.2022 We had a calving date for Pacan Camellia as she was AI'd last year to Pacan Brave Heart (photos on this page some months ago). When I checked her Friday, it was obvious she would calve overnight, so it was back out to the paddock early Saturday (it's not easy to find silver cows in frosted grass with a thick fog). Camellia has had 3 sets of twins, but this time it was just one bull calf born six days late, and about the same size as twins would be if you added them together. Her last Brave Heart calf was Pacan Florentine who was Grand Champion at Gatton Show at ten months of age, and went on to Reserve Senior Champion at Beef 2012 in Rockhampton, so we're keen to see how this 'little' fellow goes. (Apologies for the quality of the photos, but it's only a cheap Windows phone.)

20.01.2022 I'm very pleased to report that Pacan Landsborough has found a new home at 'Burwood' St Lawrence. Congratulations to the new owners on selecting this versatile young sire, and best wishes with your purchase.

20.01.2022 Remember Pacan Camellia - with the twin heifer calves born at the end of May? Here she is again, with the calves both doing very well, considering the very dry conditions. She is a very attentive mother, always wanting to know where her calves are, and that they are safe - and she's always a little suspicious of any odd human activity!

19.01.2022 We had three females due to calve in late April - by my calculations April 13, April 22 and April 26, so it was something of a surprise to have them all calve overnight April 18th. Favourite is still keeping her silver bull calf hidden, but I managed to catch up with Pacan Jordan (grey heifer calf born on the same day as her heifer calf last year) and Pacan Camellia (silver bull calf) whose 2016 calves - twin heifers - are not quite 11 months old. All calves this year sired by Pacan Landsborough (only 13 months old at time of service).

17.01.2022 We weren't able to sell Pacan Landsborough at the Grey Advantage Sale at Roma, so he has come home, and is still available. He's settled in again well after travelling over 900 km in three days and seems none the worse for the trip. It was a beautiful afternoon, so I took a couple of photos.

14.01.2022 It doesn't want to rain properly for us - we've had total overcast for four days and nine millimetres, but it seemed a good time for a photo of Pacan Lyndhurst (Arki ET x Pacan Favourite) at not quite seven months of age. So far, he has good feet and muscle pattern and great temperament.

11.01.2022 it's only a cheap Windows phone, but I thought the way it picked up the rays of light late in the afternoon was interesting. This is Pacan Jordan J28, who has temporarily escaped from the child-minding centre, and is having some 'me' time. I have no doubts her heifer calf will track her down when she needs to, probably complaining all the while!

11.01.2022 Some breed enthusiasts have recently found a photo of Pacan Brave Heart (from 2009 I believe). While we no longer have the bull, he was always a favourite of mine, so here's another photo for those who like looking at 'cow pics'!

10.01.2022 We don't have cattle at the Ekka this year - haven't for some time, but I'm starting to think about next year with this fellow. Pacan Palatine, at 5 weeks is by Brave Heart out of Pacan Camellia (so he's a full brother to Pacan Florentine, who was Reserve Senior Champion at Beef 2012).

09.01.2022 We've been waiting for our 2017 calving to begin, and watching Pacan Kismet K18, who was by our calculations, to be the first to calve. On Thursday last week, I found her with a strong grey bull calf - her first, and also the first calf by Pacan Landsborough, who was only 11 months old at time of service.

08.01.2022 We now have four calves by Pacan Landsborough, all sired before he was twelve months old. It's always a concern to have young calves in the paddock during really hot weather, and with temperatures as high as 45C, we were really worried. A great relief to find that the calves have joined forces, and are spending their days in the shade of a couple of big camphor laurel trees. (As a rule, I hate camphor laurels, but they do provide wonderful shade for the cattle!)

07.01.2022 We're very pleased that Pacan Lyndhurst has been sold, to the Crawford family from Kumbia, who have been using Pacan bulls for some years now. It's a great feeling to know that the bulls you sell will be well looked after, and we're confident this fellow will do a great job.

04.01.2022 Pacan Lorelei was AI'd last year while she was at Kilcoy High (thanks Kym Harrison). I must have driven 1000 kilometres going up to Mount Kilcoy twice a day for the last fortnight checking in case she calved early. She finally calved last night in the middle of a crashing thunderstorm; a beautiful grey heifer calf. The photos show Lorelei a couple of days before she calved, and the calf in the shade late this afternoon. Mum and bub are both doing well.

03.01.2022 Sometimes you just have to be patient, and the photo you want will come along. There's nothing more contented than a mature cow with both her calves suckling at the same time!

02.01.2022 As a reminder to never think we know pretty much everything about cattle, here's Pacan Camellia again (see my post from three days ago). She's a beautiful big silver cow by Lindsay Vinnie V15, and is 9 years old. She's also had ten calves (yes, ten - four single births and three sets of twins). What has me intrigued about this time is that the second calf was born three days after the first. At least, they are both heifers, so the issue of freemartins will not arise.
